i had the EXACT same problem, try changing ur dizzy cap and rotor, that fixed my idle, it idles like a champ now, cept for the fact that mine doesn't run at all nemore, another thing on the list of failures-now i need another new coil

hmmmmm, mistake number one "I'm going to start searching the forums right after I post this to see what questions I can answer myself." You should search b4 u post, but we all make mistakes.......its all good First off, if your looking for a Hybrid, look under the Buy/Sell Forum, have all sorts of cars that already have sum of the engine choices u want. I don't know of nebody that makes a kit for side-pipes for the datsuns, so u'd b in for sum custom work, but IMO that would look damn hott, the thought never even occured to me till now. And if you get one w/o the V8, then the first thing u should do is goto http://www.JagsThatRun.com and buy the manual, u know wht, even if ur car comes with the V8, get the manual neway, it will help u a WHOLE LOT, unless of course the car that u buy comes with the manual. AWESOME, sum1 else is thinkin of the same thing i am.........when i move the gear selector it always seems that if i let go too quickly, the shift button will pop out. If there is another selector that would fit, that would b kickass-but i like the thing that they put in it-u know how it locks the shifter, so u don't accidently downshift.

or how bout. Can u give me a rough estimate of how much power can the stock rear end handle

well, the Z gods have confirmed-that there is a possibility that i ran out of gas, that could b the reason y my car isn't running-meh, happens to the best of us.....specially if u can't tell how much gas u have. BTW, i'll drive anything with an engine, wheels, power.........and ecpecially if it has that cool emblem on the back, u know the one....it says Z Put it this way, do u have the balls to let me behind the wheel of ur car, if u can find sum place-like a track, i will punch it, no lookin back. if u have the balls to let me drive the car....i meet all the requiremnts for a fast driver.....young.

Well, its an 81 ZX n/a, im not sure if it ran out of gas, but it would not suprise me if i did-i haven't really got a chance to look at it at school lately, cuz of bad weather-but im gonna put sum gas in the tank, and see if that helps it

dont leave, ur being a HUGE HELP. what would cause my fuel gauge not to work-is there like one of those things like the head temp sensore-that screws everyone up, sumthin that u replace a small piece and it works like new. If i hafta clean the contacts and all, where are the contacts i need to clean-i know of the one rite above the cover of the fuel tank in the trunk.

i must have missed sumthin, for sum reason i didn't notice ur post before COZY Z COLE, i must have skimmed over it. Wht is the FSM? What kind of damage could running out of gas cause? And does that starting up/idleing thing make sence to any of u guys?

tell me about it, everyday its a new problem....... When i bought it, it wouldn't start, i was dumb enough to goto a mechanic(there really respected mechanics around here, so i gave em a shot) well-i spent 1700 dollars to replace fuel injectors and connectors, and misc. testing and such, then my fpr crapped out on me, then another, then one more(im on my fourth one, and i have a 5th just in case..if they fail, im gonna get an adjustable NEW ONE) well, then my Head temp sensor went out-had to replace it, then my I/C module went out, and i had to fix that. AND NOW, IT WON"T START....AGAIN, well, im used to it-besides that, besides the engine itself, i've replaced pretty much everything in the car(well, shoot, mayb i should get a new engine, cuz chance r, thats gonna drop out on me soon-i mean SHOOT, i love that SLOW, CRAPPY IDLEING, NON STARTING piece of crap-i would hate to get a powerful V8 or RB motor). wht does that mean exactly, that when i fill the tank-2 gallons goes directly to the pickup-could it b possible that i ran out of gas and the pump shut off so it doesn't burn itself up. Besides a dead fuel pump, or bad wiring-would there b another reason y the fuel pump isn't working? On another note, i recently heard: the gas u use in starting the car is equivelant to running the engine for 20 minuts. i know that this would b give or take depending on the displacement, and idle speed-but does that sound about rite?

ummmmm, well, it decides it doesn't wanna start again..i dont hear the fuel pump. My shop teacher brought up a point-some fuel pumps don't work unless theres gas in the tank, so that way it won't burn itself up. Mite make sence, seeing as how my fuel gauge doesn't work, so idk if i have gas neway. Do the Z's have a pump that shuts off when theres no gas in the tank. What else could this mean?

Trever has a point, make it a convertable-they sell a kit to do that-u basicly cut off the top part of the exterior frame, and replace it with a fiberglass type rear hatch. i've actually done the ghetto rigged vice-grip thing a few times b4, i've gone threw 3 regulators already(all used), if it happens again im gonna buy a brand new one. Well it turns out that i was hyped up over nuthin, i heard the fuel pump working today, and it fired rite up, i think its the injector cooling fan that shorted-no big deal LEAST IT RUNS, AGAIN

well, i've been lookin into getting an ASE certification, and i need to know wht the requirments are-i know that there is a requirment on the hours-but how many hours exactly? What else do i need besides hours?

I tried a seach, and it didn't tell me wht i needed to know-and i can't seem to find the haynes. does the fuel pump wiring go up into the actual engine bay. Cuz i ended up shorting out sum wiring in the engine bay-rite next to the injector cooling fan-and now my car won't start.....i cant hear my fuel pump and theres no fuel pressure, i've gone through several FPR's, so that mite b a prolem, but i crank it a few times and it builds pressure, so mayb the regulator is bad-idk wht the hell the problem is. Does the wiring go into the engine bay?

i've put much thought into that kit, and i think im gonna do it-im gonna make a skid-plate type thing for the turbo and filter so that way rocks won't mess with it 100 posts!!!!!!!
