  1. Looking forward to seeing your updates David. I'm currently running 280ZX rear discs, and may upgrade in the future as well.
  2. To me flush means as far out as possible without sticking out. If they stick out, even just a little bit, you'll need to raise your ride height to allow room for suspension travel. You will need to use adapters or spacers to put your wheels exactly where you want them. Well made spacers or adapters are perfectly safe and are used on many high performance vehicles without any problems whatsoever. Here's info on how I installed my setup: http://mysite.verizon.net/ress1lhb/barts570z/id19.html
  3. I don't have all the answers, but you wire the Opti the same whether you run a carb or use EFI and you will need to use the ECU (PCM). I don't think you can adjust timing if you retain the Opti.
  4. Not without sticking out past the stock fenders. However you can fit 18x8.5's on the front, and all around if you don't want a staggered setup.
  5. i don't understand why you would use 8" springs if you don't want extra clearance or a lower ride height.
  6. Sure, if your definition of ricey means something added just for looks and not performance - but by that definition a nice new paint job is ricey as well.
  7. So I still haven't received a reply from Raceonusa. I went ahead and took the dremmel to it last night and it didn't take too much work at all. Once I ground down the upper corners and outermost tabs it slipped right on. I'm in the process of doing all the bodywork on my car, so I don't have good pic's of the final installation, but I'll be sure and post up when it's all completed.
  8. So what specific modifications did you make? Did you run into problems with the thickness of the panel corners at the base of the A pillars? I sent an email to Raceonusa regarding my fitment issue, so I'll see if they reply or not. I'm planning on starting making modifications soon, but I'd like to hear from them first.
  9. I think moving the radiator back to the upright position is probably more efficient and cleaner looking. Having it laid back took up lots of space and forced the air to change directions in order to flow through it. The air filters are covered by the hood and I don't generally drive in the rain, so I won't install rain shields. The whole system is installed pretty tight to the underside of the hood.
  10. You can still use the Opti even if you use a carb. I think you also have the option of using a traditional distributor if you want to go that route.
  11. So I decided to change may air intake system...again. Third try's the charm, right? So I got the short ram air system off eBay as well as the Z06 air bridge. I put my radiator back in the straight up position with it just slightly lower to allow enough room for the air bridge to fit under the hood. I'm not quite sure about the Corvette emblem, I could leave it, grind it off, or cover it with a custom 570z emblem. So what do you think?
  12. I received the carbon fiber cowl panel last night, and it was really well packaged and looks great. I tried fitting it right away and I did run into a problem. I think the issue is that the new panel is too wide at the upper corners. Here's a not so good pic that shows the new panel compared with the stocker. I think this will be easily resolved with my dremmel, but I'm surprised it came this way. I would think it wouldn't fit on any Z without this modification.
  13. For those that want a smooth cowl, but don't want carbon fiber - therre's a new listing for a fibergalss unit. It's listed at $169.99 with the 'make offer' option. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FRP-OEM-Cowl-Datsun-240Z-70-73-3Dr_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a1Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem350118703308QQitemZ350118703308QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  14. The price is coming down...they accepted my bid for $250.
  15. Spacers will take care of the problem on the back if you have room to spare in the fenderwell. If you want to maintain the position in the fenderwell then you should go with shorter springs in order to allow the lower perch to sit above the wheel.
  16. As posted earlier in this thread, those panels don't include the header - meaning you have to ruin your stock panels in order to install the cf panels. $20 more without having to destroy the stockers seems like a pretty good deal to me. I may have to give this guy a call. Does the $500 include shipping?
  17. I may drop by, but without my car as it is currently in pieces. I think it's a little lame to charge $5 admission and $5 parking just for spectators.
  18. No I don't remember seeing that opening when I removed my stock blower, but now I know I should block that opening off. It looks like a smooth cowl will work just fine for my application.
