  1. You all missed it. It's called density air boys. Hot dry phoenix air sucks, bet your at 5000ft +++ loosing 20% of your advertised HP to start with so your at about 320HP max right out of the box at the flywheel. Throw in the drivetrain losses of another 20% and your at about 260HP at the wheels if it's all properly tuned. Nope, your spot on there dude, get it tuned drive it to sez/dni and see what happens It takes alot of motor to run at altitude.
  2. Sad, so very sad and tragic. Godspeed.
  3. Yours is pretty clear. Uh, let's see spammer?!!! Ding ding ding, I win!!!
  4. You know that is pretty funny but what is amazing is that there are people out there that really are that clueless. Fortunately they don't frequent here on any type of regular basis.
  5. Very true about the desktop dyno IMO. I love the 3.25 stroke. If your going to use the 3.25 stroke, then if I were you I would try to achieve the 4.125 bore or larger and end up with 350+ cubic inches, go the 23 degree AFR head route, probably some 210's and some type of a solid lifter cam and single plane mainifold to utilize the rpm potential of the heads and stroke. With that short of a stroke you can easily use 6.2 inch long rods and with the right valvetrain can reliably spin it to 7500 every day. I'd try to keep the compression to 10:1 or in that neighborhood as I think you will find that it adds very little when compared to good flame travel when spinning it high rpm.
  6. So, phil, do the motocross trophis go nex to the elvis trophies? I think elvis should win a motocross once in his life, afterlife, or whatever. You da man!!!
  7. Not real sure actually, but I'll let everyone know when. Really busy with work right now and both z's need alot of attention. Probably take the boys z this summer and try to click off a 9 second pass or two. Friend owns the track in El Paso and the altitude is lower there so we are wanting to head down there and try that one out. I think the cost of going 18 degree initially is higher but the advantage of bigger power is worth it for an all out car. Now that I have a tig the prospect of building headers is more practical than it was when we built the little z. I don't think it is a good idea for a street strip car.
  8. Yes, Jap tin runs 18 degree heads. The stahl bolt pattern requires an adaptor plate. Custom headers will be required. Pistons for 18 degree heads also required due to valve size and spacing. Make alot of power!
  9. Congratulations there phil!!!!! BTW your a mess!!! Just in case you were wondering. :lmao:
  10. The harmonic balancer has nothing to do with the pulleys or selection thereof because the mounting face is always in the same location. SBC gen 1 either use pulleys for a short pump or long pump, you can't mix. If you have the short pump and are trying to use AC you will have a problem and have to go aftermarket to get pulleys. You can use a long pump, but you don't have accessory holes for the stock location and stock brackets. I have drilled old heads for the accessories, but it's PIA.
  11. Truly a great movie. "Grow some balls and be a man." Love it! Truly one of the great movies of the last few years.
  12. If I were you I'd have an engineer do the design. I'd bet it can be done. I did a 70 foot freespan with 29" wood nailer bar trusses!!
  13. Anything you have actually. I think it would be valuable to have so that myself and others can see what you've done. I would appreciate it. Doc
  14. IMO the 4l80e would be a better choice. That's alot of HP and TQ, but the z is light also.
  15. Post some more detailed pictures of your project would you.
  16. No, carb'ed ala 60's, 2.02 fuelie heads, runs actually. Local mexicanos had it in a p/u but wrecked it. One of them owed me some $$$ so I took the motor instead. I know, I'm a nice guy letting him off the hook like that. Hmm, unopened bag of crunchy cheetos!!!!!........................................................... ...................................................................................................................... How about a 468 BBC 10:1 forged pistons with Brodix aluminum heads, hydraulic cam, steel crank, arp rod bolts in 3/8" rods, balanced. I'll take $4000 complete carb to pan, including dizzy, flywheel, etc. Can hear run! Or $3995 with a bag of cheetos crunchy!
  17. I haven't been answering the phone so its still mine!
  18. Just picked up a 327 chevy out of a vette from a guy here locally. Going to pick it up this weekend and pay him the $100 for the engine. I know, It's all luck what can I say.
  19. You forgot to mention that cool shifting gear sound to John!!! :lmao: Somebody pass me the beans!!
  20. Ain't happening. If you need something edited, we are just a PM away!
  21. It was a questionable call, but we have to stand up for our homies! Your on the inside, or the outside. :lmao:
  22. It's on a jack plate, designed to just let the prop be in the water insead of the shaft housing. Tunnel hull probably weighs about 300 or so pounds. Awesome fun!!! Friend of mine has one, the holeshot was amazing! Could cavitate the prop on demand at low speed by nailing the throttle!
  23. The down side to that is that in the past members have left the site and deleted good info before they left. Double edged sword. The positive side is that if you ask one of us to fix broken link, or correct something it'll get done fairly quickly.
