  1. hey do u know how much t-top r worth?

  2. There are pleanty of static compression ratio calculators on the net, try google. As for set in stone theories they typically follow 10:1 for pump gas with and aluminum head, 9:1 for an iron head respectively. That is subjective and doesn't take into consideration the cam. I think you have the cart before the horse, typically you build the compression and then choose the cam and it seems that you went the other way. A larger cam bleeds off more compression as such that compression is typically referred to as dynamic. Do a little google search on dynamic compression and you'll see. Being that you have a 6cyl degreeing the cam is somewhat more difficult. I think Braap can help you more there in determining your valve timing events should you have the proper tools. I hope this helps you.
  3. Seen that done before. Yes, there are people that really do that and oddly enough they get to vote as well.
  4. Electrically speaking solder is the only way to go for best conductivity. Get some solder cup ends and a Bernzomatic (sp?) torch some resin core solder and get them soldered for best results. Use the torch to melt the solder in the cup about half full, then tin plate the end of the exposed welding lead and then dip it in the solder cup end and hold. If solder spills out, no biggie just don't get it on you in the process so be wise to that.

    Fail

Yup and to think that they vote.
  6. How many miles did you have on that oil before you changed it?
  7. Your going to want to use the best belt money can buy for starters, make sure that your belt has the proper tension. About 3/4" deflection on the longest run using one finger and moderat pressure. Make sure the pulles are all exactly aligned. And IMO swap out that alt pulley for one of the big 5 inch racing deep groove pulleys. If your turning your engine 5K or above that alternator is doing like about 9K or better. I run the extra small moroso drive pulley, about 3 inches in diameter on the crank. I have never had heating problems but I don't have A/C either.
  8. In there now care to join ?

  9. No, don't really have time. What's up? Do the hbz chat?

  10. hey do you have any real time chat things you use?

  11. I think installing a v8 is pretty easy myself especially if you go carb. You planning on going manual or automatic trans? 300 to 350hp is a breeze with an almost stock sbc or lsx. Plus the torque is higher than with the 6. I vote v8!
  12. Boy that sucks! I hate to hear your troubles but I also hope that it goes away and you get your project done. It would probably be better to part it out, but if it's not costing you anything, why not wait.
  13. If your going to use NOS then you need to stay 11:1 compression or less. You should select the cylinder heads first so you can talke with vendors and get the right pistons to make that work. Best you can get for 23 degree heads is the AFR's, call them and ask them for a recommendation as to which one would suit your intended application.
  14. Typically a shop will vacuum test the ports to see if the valves leak. If it leaks, then there is a problem. If the seats were cut right and the valve (new or not) is concentric and has the seat ground properly and concentric you should be fine. If it leaks I am not sure you have the means to check for concentricity of the valve or the seat but the home method would be to lap the valve IMO.
  15. Running methanol as a fuel or water injection does a pretty good job. The part that alarmed me was the fact that the coating can become too hot and cause pre-ignition.
  16. I have $4250 in the garage and lift total with concrete, rebar and remesh. I have propanel for the sides. It is used and green in color but I got it for $250.
  17. No, not yet anyway. If it was it'd be a no brainer. I think I just need to put the car together, then figure out what to do about fuel. Seems pretty sane just to plumb it in -10 and call it a day whether it's gas or alky or E85.
  18. Well, starting to get all the pieces. Bidding on a tial 60mm wastegate and planning on putting a 5psi spring in that. I was thinking about injectors and what size to get. Pretty tempting just to get 160lb/hr and design the fuel system to run methanol. Then I could run either gas or methanol once I got my maps all figured out. Methanol would be easier, timing map would be straight across the board locked timing at 32 degrees. I guess it is time to wheel the white z around, yank the engine, trans and cut the stock rear end pieces out of it and start the backhalf part. And start on the engine. Need to gap the rings and start assembly. Since it is just a 3.5 inch stroke there are few issues to deal with. I did get another TPI setup complete off of an 86 vette, so now I have 2 TPI setups. I am going to port the base manifold and get it going together. Lots to do.
  19. This is what I love about you Alan. Always have an abundance of information including the obscure facts and chime in at the right time!!!
  20. Well, they wanted a car fast. The automaker said "When", they said tomorrow and he said Dat Sooon?!! hence the name "Dat suuun". When it was delivered on time they had to change the name to "Nissan" which literally translates to "Miracle". In that they actually produced a car Dat sun.
  21. yeah, true. CYFD just left. They recommend counseling for him. His mom refused says she didn't do anything. I can't make him go, he doesn't want to go. But they did say that it took 14 years for him to get where he is and it may take 14 more to get to a point where he even has a relationship with his mother.
  22. CYFD was a no show. Oh, well, time to unload my big JD 790 excavator off the lowboy, wash it, fix a flat and prune my big cottonwood trees with my excavator. Total Slacker!!
