  1. Welcome. You won't be disappointed in the ellis-juan power potential
  2. Nice! I'm still waiting on some freeway pulls though.
  3. Wow, I actually just wasted like 4 minutes of my life with this pointless post. Put an LT1 T56 and flywheel in the *****, and don't look back! They can be had for like $6-800. If you're squealing about money, you are in the wrong hobby my friend.
  4. Ah, gotcha. The tracks around here are pretty strict, so when I do put a cage in mine, it's going to have removable swing outs, so i can just take the door bars completely out whenever i'm not using them.
  5. This is the exact setup that I'm currently running. However, I'll be getting rid of all my SBC stuff soon, as I have an LS1 sitting in the garage, waiting for a 6 speed . I'll have to check for sure, but my RPMs are roughly 3K going 60 down the highway. Granted this is on a 24" tire. When I get my 26's on there, it will help a bit. The car is a blast to drive though. If you HAVE to have overdrive, (would be nice), you can always go for a 700R4, which is the older, non-electronic version of the 4L60e. These aren't quite as tough as TH350, but they are reliable, and fairly cheap to rebuild, if need be. The thing I love the most about SBC stuff is it is DIRT cheap. Cams and valvetrain cost literally 1/5 of what LS based stuff is, which is where I came from. However, the LS is very reliable, and they can be had for very little $$. I know that locally I can pick up a 5.3 from a junkyard for $400 with accessories, intake to pan, that will make just as good of power as an ol 350, and be 10x as reliable. Then there is the issue of tuning, and wiring. If you have any more questions, LMK!
  6. LOLOL yes, there is quite the story acutally. If you've ever seen the movie "step brothers" then you know about the F*cking catalina wine mixer. Well some of my buddies here did one last year, and one again this year. It was a good little party. 8 kegs, 20 handles of vodka. You can just fill in the blanks.
  7. I've been really busy with finals (college) and just driving the crap outa my cars in the nice weather, so I haven't had alot of time to post up. Here's a quick shot from last weekend, punishing the OLD street tires I added a little bit of fun last weekend also
  8. Sorry for the belated reply! They are exactly what they look like. Cheap headers . The radius is very sharp on the front and rear primaries, so you have to start those bolts first, and suck the header up. This is of course instead of just putting them in, and bolting them all up at the same time. Also, the close-radius holes I used allen head bolts, instead of hex, due to the lack of room. There is a similar problem with the 3 bold collector, but i just used a smaller bolt to remedy that problem. For the $114 I paid for them, I'm more than satisfied. Also, I did have to remove the knock sensor on the passenger side, and replace it with a brass plug. I had to massage one of the drivers' side primaries ever so slightly so it would clear the engine mount. Other than that, They have been good to me! Here's a Before pic And an after pic A quick depth measurement Comparison
  9. Just food for thought, but if you want your cage to be NHRA legal (depending on how strict your local track is) You will have to have a full cage to go faster than 9.99. A 5, or 6 point is required for all cars quicker than 11.49, and this includes door bars.
  10. lookin good! I've been following your thread over on LS1tech also. Good work!
  11. If you're wanting in the 800 horse range, with room to grow, then I guess an F1 might be right for you. Is this thing going to see the strip at all? Because an 800 horse, < 3000 lb car is knocking on the door of 8's. Does the car have a cage in it? I'd almost put one in for a piece of mind. .... .02 Is there a thread about your car?
  12. Good info guys! Keep it comin! Side note: just installed a N.O.S. plate kit on the SBC. The fun is back in the car! Just jetted for a 100 shot...for now!
  13. SOOO, how much HP are you planning on? You don't think you'll have traction problems with a forged 370 and an F1? Lets be real, you can make upwards of 800 horses on a D1. What are your power goals anyway? Pinning the crank is always a good idea if you plan to run alot of boost from a centrifugal. Also, running a 12 rib setup, or even a cog drive. I have about half a dozen friends making 600+ whp, with no issues whatsoever. They drive their cars to the track, and drive them home, (unless the drive train fails ) I know some of my mustang friends (few) with prochargers have an issue of it eating belts, but normally due to the fact that its misaligned.
  14. I'd also like to see some installed pics. Those are pretty sexi man, I admire your patience and craftsmanship.
  15. Just wanting to know, of the LS- 6 speed crowd, who is using what master cylinder. Pro's, Con's... All of my friends swear by Tick Performance's adjustable master, but I know there are plenty of others on the market. Also, if you could post pics of where you mounted / attached it, that would be helpful also. Thanks!
  16. Lookin great man. I hope to start my swap sometime this fall, $$ allowing. I've been following you here and on LS1tech. Car looks great
  17. Not bad numbers. What front accessories are you running? Underdrive pulley? Also, what did the car make before?
  18. not tryin to bust balls, but don't stock LS1's make that kind of power in these cars?
  19. + 1 for pics of the cage. I have a feeling I'll be needing one this fall.
  20. The cheapest / easiest way to do a V8 conversion is to put in a SBC (small block chevy) Those engines are VERY plentiful, as they were put in everything from cars to vans to trucks from the 1960's until 1999. That being said, the newer engines (LS family) are much more desirable in my opinion, because they are much more efficient, and make more power. Any V8 is going to impress you in one of these cars, as they are pretty light. If carbs are you specialty, then i would suggest a SBC. If you're into computers and cutting edge technology, go with a 5.3 vortec engine. Here's a generic stand-alone swap harness for an LS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-04-LS1-LS6-NEW-Standalone-Wiring-Harness-w-4L60E_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a029575e9QQitemZ180431975913QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories If you want some help / advice, go no further than LS1tech.com . It is far and away the best resource for these engines. Here is the swap section on said website http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/ You could spend days or years trying to read all the info on here. Other great websites for datsun swaps are http://www.johnscars.com/ http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ do your research, make a goal, and stick with it. Hope this helps a little, sorry for the novel
  21. As cheap and abundant as the 5.3 and even 6.0 engines have become, why not just use one of them? The 5.3 is only down on power from and LS1 by 10%, which can be more than made up for with a cam swap. (because 400 horse is the new 300 horse ) Locally, I can pick up a 100K mile 5.3 for $3-400. If you want to make a high RPM screamer, then a 4.8 with an upgraded valve train might be just what you need. I was able to source an LS1 from a friend of mine for next to nothing, so I'm just accumulating parts till the fall to do the ol swap. Sorry for the pseudo thread jack.
  22. I'll get some pics up this weekend hopefully. KINDA broke my camera a couple weekends ago (had a lil too much fun haha). But I'll get some crackberry pics up.
  23. There is a TON of good info on LSX swaps, prices, power, yada yada over on ls1tech.com . I, unlike some people here, am making my way from the F-body scene to something a little lighter and not as common. A good running LQ4 can be had for 800-1000, and a t56 can be found for 800-1200. L92 heads flow amazing, but you must have an LS3/ L76 intake to run them, as they are a rectangular port. If you are just itching to have a custom cam, track down PatG on tech, he'll custom spec a cam to your application for $50. LS engines are wonderous! Have fun! Spec 2, or Monster clutches are both very good options for stock- cam only apps.
