  1. Ahh okay. Figured they might be them from zccjdm. Talked to Brian before, great guy to work with. Wish there was a knock-off or replica of those, cause they $$. Great looking car man, keep up the work.
  2. How much and where did you get those seats?? I love em!
  3. So far I've got about 27k into parts labor upgrades and the car doesn't run. Did I intend on spending that much? No, did i buy while I'm at it parts? Yes. However with dropping as much as I have/did you don't have much left to upgrade or tune on the car. its not cheap, nor for the faint of heart.
  4. Okay guys, I have an NHRA cage that was supposed to be spec'd before I bought this car. I'm having a problem getting my seats to fit in and clear the shoulder/side bar that runs along the door. What I'm wanting to do is keep the cage as safe as possible, and be able to clear most open track cage requirements. I don't so much care about fitting into any one particular racing group, more just general. I'm trying to decide between something like: Orignal Diagnol Bar: Change Option #1: Change Option #2: Change Option #3 (would only be 2 bars high rather than 3):
  5. Gorgeous car!! Any chance you have any more pictures of the roll cage? I've never seen a door bar go the opposite direction like yours. What racing agency specs is it built to? Thanks!
  6. Jeff, I'm going to take a stab at it. I looked through Corky Bell's Maximum Boost, but couldn't find anything directly relating to NO2. What I'd assume is that since nitrous is much more temperature voilatile and that most turbos are hot (i.e. point of having the intercooler); you loose the efficiency of using NO2. From wiki: "Nitrous oxide is stored as a compressed liquid; the evaporation and expansion of liquid nitrous oxide in the intake manifold causes a large drop in intake charge temperature, resulting in a denser charge, further allowing more air/fuel mixture to enter the cylinder. Nitrous oxide is sometimes injected into (or prior to) the intake manifold, whereas other systems directly inject right before the cylinder (direct port injection) to increase power." Any other opinions/corrections are welcome.
  7. Whats your budget? I've got one, pretty close to local if you're in Delano. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=151041
  8. Okay so digging up an old thread. I picked up a pair of G35 leather electric seats for FREE. Based off of my initial measurements it seems like that can fit in there. Problems I see, you need a custom bracket to lower them (have to figure out the electric motors etc). Width wise they would fit in a stock Z, however they are hitting my roll cage door bar, which could be solved with a lower mounting of the roll cage bar. It would be a tight squish, but for the price (free ), it seems you could take them to a upholstery shop to have them "shave" some of the outside padding. Any opinions, questions, comments?
  9. That really is an awesome job piston. What speed is your dewalt spinning at? Also I'm assuming those are 6" pads? Are you using just standard tap water in the spray bottle? I've heard/read people expressing to use only distilled as it doesn't have an minerals in it that could "possibly" affect the long term finish of a paint job. That could be complete random internet BS, but was just curious.
  10. Great job, truly an inspiration! Makes me want to do body work and I'm not even there yet!
  11. He'll be in my wifes and I's prayers. Keep us updated.
  12. That is one of my least favorite miata's...until now Good gravy that has gotta be fast!
  13. Are you talking about a G-nose? If so these guys.. http://www.zccjdm.com/
  14. I did mine after it was in. Though I'm having a crap load of steering column interference with my Sanderson Shorties.
  15. Dammit Aux I hit the new posts button and there is my username. WTF?!?!? How dare you show that I don't know all cars to the general public, YEARS upon YEARS of persona ruined! Don't tell my wife I watched the video, if she asks, its about cars...C-A-R-S....
  16. For the price etc. it looks pretty cool. I'd be curious how much it replaces. http://popularhotrodding.automotive.com/45413/0709phr-1990-ford-mustang-lx/specs.html
  17. I was a Fire/911/EMS dispatcher for about 2 years. I've never really been a fan of CDF and the investigator is probably just mad he got called out on a small fire. On another note, grass fires in CA are heavily dispatched too. It seems like your area (lots of land regulations, etc.) is a high hazard area. AKA wildland risk threat. What you don't realize is how quickly grass can burn, if a fire is let run wild it DOUBLES in size every 30 seconds. With that said, most standard wildland/high risk areas automatically get Air support dispatched and a whole slew of other equipment. IIRC for Kern County its 3 Engines (water holders) 6 Patrols (the small guys typically 4x4's or Full size pickups) 2 Hand Crews (line digger/shoveler about 17-20 guys) 1 Helicopter + Crew 2 Battalion Chiefs 1 Dozer 1 Air Plane if available. This is a STANDARD first alarm wildland response for any "grass fire" even if its only 2x2 ft in one of those areas. Second alarms are double all the units, 3rd etc. It will eat a fire departments resources in minutes and you'll have so many units trying to talk, so many people trying to handle the situation. All that said, if it was closer than 10ft to ANY structure, it automatically bumps it to reinforced alarm. AKA 1st alarm + 2 more Engines and another patrol. Counties like LA, or Santa Barbara, San Luis, etc. All dispatch more units that we did to similar fires. Overkill for a lot of fires, but on the same token, its the one you understimate that costs all $$$. Don't sweat the CDF guy, especially if you aren't in his "jurisdiction." I.E. Greenwood FD is you nearest fire station etc. And you won't "pay for it" unless there's a lot of evidence that you maliciously set it. Glad everything turned out okay and there wasn't a whole lot of damage.
  18. Year air quality is bad. Close to buttonwillow, Willow springs, and Famosa drag (NHRA Hot Rod Nationals every year). Honda and Hyundai test tracks not too far either. Again figuring he's from Texas, heat wouldn't be a major problems. Lots of fun roads around, as well. Back on topic though, glad you've enjoyed driving through Cali. I love it here.
  19. Here's my Moms. Now for sale as she's looking for a 07 745li.
  20. Ouch . Hey I'm 2hrs away from anything worth doing, beach, moutains, desert, cities. Just don't expect to be entertained here... Can't help but think of O'Brother where art Thou "Well ain't this place a geographical anomaly, 2 weeks from everything." He's from Texas, he'd like Bakersfield, we all still drive trucks and farm'n'stuff.
  21. Thats not entirely true, it depends on where in CA you are. You can buy brand new homes in Bakersfield, for under and around 200k. You can find used homes and foreclosed, or older homes in nice areas any where from 100k to 300k. Average salary for Bakersfield is in the 30k, which if you have good credit puts in the 200k house with currently over 1000 homes under that price range in Bakersfield. However big cities, is a different ball game. LA, San Fran, etc are all a lot like CA. But they don't take up the entire states housing market. Just my .02
  22. The aircrafts fly rarely now days, but still do fly. If you did get a ticket from one of them its not from radar, its done by passing through a mile marker in a given amount of time. I've never got one, the signs are pretty frequent around me as well. That all said, if you notice a airplane and think its after you, slow down a lot, it'll throw off the timing and they can't prove you were speeding. Then proceed to the speed limit, until the plane is out of sight. Most of the radar dectectors, that I've used, seen used etc. in Cali pick up Emergency radio towers and sometimes truckers too. On the note of CA, I live in the "conservative armpit" of the state and its still beautiful here.
  23. Looks pretty cool, but also looks like the corvette I built on NFS Carbon. Lot of work done to that thing, gotta respect that.
