  1. Hi SLeeper Z, To go alongside my V8 project I have bought a BRAND NEW ex Bob Sharp body shell RLS30-00017 and am going to build a replica but cannot find any of the panels. This shell has never had a panel or hinge on it, the wire retaining tags are all still straight as they have never held a loom. Are there any stickers, labels on the fibreglass parts or can you point me in the direction I need to go to find the supplier please ?? I would prefer to build an IMSA style car but would be just as happy with a car like number 33
  2. Hi Chelle - great car.... love it. Do you know if the Alpha 1 kit is still available and if so where from please ?

  4. Hi Guys, I have been fortunate enough to find and buy an original and brand new body shell that has sat on blocks in a barn since 1991 - chassis number RLS30 - 00017 This shell was originally a spare shell shipped to Bob Sharp Racing but was never used. Apparently it was sold to a guy in New York then sold to the guy in the UK that I bought it from...... here's the rub.... It would only seem right and fitting to build a BSR replica bearing in mind the car's low chassis number and history but I have searched and searched and cannot find an IMSA style BSR kit. I have pictures of the Bob Sharp IMSA car (stunning) owned by Dr Allan Robbins who is not interested in helping because he sees the potential replica as a fake (fair comment but just his view). Can anyone point me at a Bob Sharp IMSA replica kit please ???? I have used the search function to death and no one seems to know where there is one available. Will work out how to post the pics
  5. Had the same thing happen almost - left IBM and started up on my own in an entirely unrelated industry though. Less hours, less stress, more money, more fun, more time with my family All in all it was well worth it - GOOD LUCK MIKE !!
  6. No problem - hope to see you on our quaint little english forum

  8. Hi Makkan - try http://www.zclub.net and post for the attention of Sean Dezart. He has a business based in France importing US cars, he has quite a few for sale and can get you whatever you want ! Good Luck Andy F
  9. Hi John - we are getting quite a Hybrid buzz going slowly in the UK
  10. Black Beauty - Mike is a SERIOUSLY well clued up V8 chevy engineer. Been talking to him for a while but he is mega expensive. Have now agreed that he will custom build me an engine and do all of the fitment work as well. Many Thanks to everyone who replied, I am now well sorted - custom engine, 7litres, LS7 components with liners so in case of problem you pull the liner and install a new one with no damage to the block. T56 gearbox custom built to take the power - he is even lending me an engine and box to do the trial fit while he builds the proper one. It will be fully balanced and blueprinted so should be a good one! The kind of service we do not normally see in the UK and get pig sick jealous about when we see it in the States when we are on holiday
  11. Thanks DavyZ, The issue is not one of actually BUYING an engine because places like Scoggin Dickey will sell me everything I want (would prefer to buy new unless a VERY good VERY low mileage setup came up for sale). The difficulty is knowing WHAT to buy, let me explain : I know I want an LS6 preferably, I know I want a T56 preferably but it is all the ancilliaries that cause the grief. There is not a lot of Chevy V8 expertise in the UK and even less where HybridZ stuff is concerned, no one can give me a shopping list or tell me what will and won't fit (bear in mind the car is right hand drive) What I would like to end up with is either a total shopping list of engine, box, pumps, pulleys, the lot, every last detail OR have someone supply me with a complete and built engine / box setup to fit the 240 on John's Cars mounts. I have read and re read the JTR book but it does not cover the new all aluminium engines. The guys on here helped me decide on engine / box combination but now I am approaching trial fit stage and need to actually get the stuff. My only other option is to get an LS6 / T56 combo and throw away everything that doesn't fit then ask what WILL fit and source it. Would be easier and neater to buy the right stuff in the first place.
  12. IBM decided to shut down a huge part of their software group in Europe a while back. Syanara ZHeadV8 san ......
  13. Hi Guys, I am struggling to get an engine and box for my 240 project because we have relatively few of them here in the UK and the expertise is thin on the ground. Frankly and dangerously I do not know exactly what to buy. Can anyone point me at a serious engineer who can supply me a ready built engine / box package with all the ancilliaries to just bolt in ? Preferably LS2 / LS6 with T56 Needs to be a reputable decent company please
  14. Not my cup of tea because I'm 40 - looks more like a younger guy's car but I think it looks really cool for the modern drift scene.
  15. That "260 racer" car is the most famous racing Z in the UK probably and is actually a 240 - it is called Big Sam and was built by Spike Anderson of Samuri Conversions The current owner is Nick Howells who lives I believe in Cornwall. There is a long and chequered history surrounding this car - it was originally in the body shell number HS-30 00025 which was Altonen's work's racing shell. That shell was severely damaged (I am currently putting that shell back together but it could never ever be called original, merely an identity with a lot more modern parts around it). Once that shell was damaged the whole job lot of components was swapped onto another ex works shell that I believe is still with the car today. Anyone interested in Samuri watch this space............ there will be news in the near future
  16. Incredibly sorry for your loss Larry, please accept my condolences. Your partner would want you to be ok so stick in there, hold your head high for her. The void left by an absent loved one takes a lot of filling.
  17. Congratulations John !!! Don't forget to do a little bodywork while you are in Hawaii
  18. If you put a fairly new BMW M engine in you will end up with a load of technical PIA's - the keys have transducers in that sync with the ignition lock and ecu etc. Not a simple swap, I went to a BMW specialist to discuss it and decided against it. More power for less money and hassle from an LS6
  19. Hi Rob, Glad to see you here Nice plans, wish you had published them a little earlier, we spoke about your front mount which looked excellent but I have now sorted other ways to do the job (Arizona Z billet front and rear). The guy building my car would most probably be interested in this when it is finished - you know who he is .....
  20. One of John's hood's is in my engineer's shop in the UK - build quality is great and the thing fits like it is supposed to. 10/10 compared to the other stuff I've seen.
