Hey guys, i would like to run a blowproof bellhousing. Anyone running one? not too many options on lakewoods, anyone run the 15020? its for a hydralic application, but im affraid the mounting parts for the hyd. setup will be too low. Any help?

Once again, i have a cam question. I found that site, and its awesome... shockingly low cam prices. Based on this post, it has convinced me to sell my solid roller lifters, and just go solid flat tappet. I would like to get the exact same cam you have, but i cant find any with low .500 lift on that site with the same duration, they are all 26?'s at .050 can you send me a link of the actual auction? Thanks man, sorry if im buggin you, but ive looked for a long time for that cam. Also, the $70 auctions are cam only, the $112 auctions come with the lifters
-
All the cams i see that they have are solid lifters, not roller tho. Your running solid roller lifters?
-
you paid $70 for solid roller lifters, and a solid roller cam? I cant find them on ebay, do you have a link? thats insanely cheap
-
Man that is almost the exact cam i was searching for for my 302. what brand is it? how much did you pay?

hey man, on the back fire... I just got my 355 running in my '79 malibu, no carb tune what so ever, and rockers just kinda set. Took it around the block, and i had a low throttle blinding fireball (at night) next day i had one about 5 feet over the top of the car. I got one of my engine doc's over, and we set the valves while it was running, and we adjusted the carb, makes for an entirely different engine now. may just need a simple tune if you havnt done it. Awesome man, good video. cool your woman will ride. mine is affraid of the manual steering in mine, she wont even ride

Im also an hour north, located on fort hood I was just down there 3 weeks ago to buy a chevy truck, and last week to buy a 283 motor. I would totally like to meet up. But, like most my z is in a transition period. But i sure as hell would like to ride ina v8z, i never have before.

zfan, what about your shifter placement?

huh, well, here is what i know about 4 speeds, that bronco guy...I wouldnt take his advice too much. Theres 3 kind of muncie 4 speeds, m-20 m-21, and m-22. none of them were Granny 4speeds. the lowest (numerically highest) gear any muncie had in it was a 2.52. All "rock crushers" had i think 2.20, which isnt even close to a Granny gear. My super t-10 has a 3.42 which is pretty low and thats not even close to granny, altho i go have to shift at about 13mph. Maybe 2nd gear bogged on the guy because he shifted at 2k or something, or maybe he had huge tires. What is he talkin about 4th is "heavily overdriven" No muncie, borgworner, or saginaw 4 speed was over driven. I am pretty sure all 4 speed manuals have a 1:1 4th. All m-22's where "rock crushers" they were just really really tough, and had straight cut gears that will whine like crazy, some people dig it. If you tell me how many spline input shaft, and how man groves are on it, i might be able to tell you what you have. Im no expert in 4 speeds, but i do know a little. What size tires was this bronco running? if he had real tall tires, his rpms at 85 will be ALOT different then what yours are at 85 witch short ass z tires. harrison

I have a 4 speed (super t-10) laying around the shop, and the t5 route looks like it will be $1000+. So, who runs a 4speed, and what can you tell me about it. Im sure rpms are crazy on the freeway with these little tires, and no o.d. but thats okay with me cause my power wont come online till mid-3000rpm anyways! JTR book dosnt say anything about a 4speed, only mentions the 4+1 tranny. What about shifter hole? Im thinking this will be a pretty easy tranny to run seeing as how it is so small. Harrison

Very cool. I was actually diggin thro my bellhousings, (only 3) to see if i had a hydro clutch one, and when i didnt find it i thought "crap, theres another $50-$100 on a bellhousing. I will definently go this route, altho i am real curious about the clearence. There does look to be alot of extra metal i could grind on on that bracket uhh.. i just looked at the site, and found this. Its rigid steel bracket installs easily using two of the bellhousing-to-block bolts on the passenger side of the engine. Nearly all aluminum Chevrolet bellhousings and most aftermarket versions are compatible Am i a complete idiot, or is that the driver side?

Gettin motor tommorow, going old school

Bino, your not convincing me of anything. I know 383's can be built pretty good, and they are not expensive to create. Im not trying to get every single available horsepower that i can. Im building a fun motor, that i will enjoy. All the hell im getting makes me wanna do it even more. If im not happy with it, ill drop in my 406, and they we can talk, I have most of the parts needed to put that together, minus a carb. Stock bottom end, trickflow twisted wedge heads, edelbrock torker II, and a comp 292 cam. Ps, man theres alota texas guys around here, we really need a TX GTG -

280z. thanks for keepin it civil. i will admit 350s are cheap, the 302 isnt real expensive, i just dont make too much $, so when i make around $1300 a month, and spend $1330 on heads, it seems more $ than it is. Like the pistons are forged speed pro's, kindahard to find, and they were only $350, and block was $200, and the forged crank (that lists on mortec as a 283 military tank crank) was only like $200, its not too much more than a 350. And 7500 maybe "high heaven" to a 350, but not so much a 302. Heres a quote from one of my books. The 302 ".....When prototypes were dyoned at 8000 rpm the exhaust, which was piped directly outside made people nearby think they were hearing an air raid sire..... it was the stroke and big bores that made these engines such capable revvers. ..... what they lacked in torque they made up for in horsepower" I do agree with you, about the valve train not lasting as long, i will use high quailty parts. I dont really have to run crazy lift either. I have a build sheet for a 501 hp 302, heres the cam card .448 lift (exh) 282 degrees at .050 .444 lift (int) 290 degrees at .050 12.1 (eek) compresion holley 830 (just one ) RPM Hp 5500 364 6500 447 7500 483 8000 501 ... and thats with ancient stuff, my afr's and new cam tech will really come into play here now, i have built 2 350's, and they are fun i will admit. I have a 406 on my engine stand that im about to build, i picked up the 283 last night, and the 302 is also in the works. Im just tryin all kinds of small block stuff. 302's dominated the trans am series in the 60's i cant wait to run her around a track. Everyone builds 383's and 355's im just doing something different, and getting hell from alot of people (not so much you tho) and im loven every minute -

Pretty much all top end, but with 3.90 rear, it shouldnt be too bad around town. lol, no offence to you, but i dont get why guys build 383's, or any other tourqy motor thats just gonna make brute low rpm tourqe, and them complain about abliterating the tire. i want the car to be rollin before my power comes online. I dont really have a hp goal in mind, from all the 302 builds 350hp is pretty much given to you, with a solid roller cam, and afrs, i should be around 400. -

383, Im shooting for around 7500-8000. so far i have Forged crank, forged h-beams, high-comp pistons, block, afr's, and my solid rollers. My big question is what cam, intake, and carb. Mario, 283's are out there, just look on ebay, and swap meets. Im sure theres lots around AZ. You can get a 302 with a 283 crank in a 4inch bore block, as long as the crank journals are the same. some are small journal, which is 2.00 and large which is 2.10 mains... i think! -
I just discovered "showcar parts" yesterday, and was diggin the cowl hood. then i say the post "SHOWCAR PARTS SUCKS" but i cant get into it. Anyone run their stuff?
