  1. Great project! It's all availble on the net, from memory it includes depreshiation, so im not sure if it really is taking into account used cars yet alone classic cars...
  2. my understanding is the enamal rustoleum is used there is an acrylic, brightside, which gets slightly more shine in general, i've played around with this one and it hardly looses it over time (didn't have any wax on it), and you can always just re-polish either paint anyway
  3. i hope this isn't the case, but that flare looks back to front? as in its on the wrong side
  4. looking good driftin, u should take a look around http://www.designertechniques.com and take ur sketches to the next level either on the computer, or buy urself some markers and dry pastels
  5. i was debating to get an LSD or not too, best money i've spent on the car and that was while using a mostly stock l26! the car behaves the way you expect/want it to instead of occasionally having its own mind. what convinced myself to get one was all the ae86 people talking about just how different their cars feel with one, and how if ppl want to have fun in a ae86 they should put in an lsd before a decent engine. and if you regret it you can always sell it?
  6. you start loosing brightness over 5000k, so buy some 4500k bulbs that have the correct base for whatever ur kit uses and hopefully it atleast puts out light now, instead of just a purple ricey glow as stated above though, the results will still be crap as you need to use a projector designed for a hid globe
  7. thats my car, glad you like them, and 280zforce linked to DIY thread above. I'd recommend you look on hidplanet to get a better idea of which projectors best for its money, as unfortunately i didn't know about the site, and e46 ones aren't that great (in terms of the blue cutoff produced, and also these are not bi-xenons), although the plastic chrome shroud is nice, alot of them are interchangable as they are roughly the same diameter. I reakon 300c projector shrouds would look awesome 280z force's lights are in another league, and there are definately advantages to having them stick out like his do, if you look at a picture of mine on you'll see half the light is blocked by the headlight bucket for one, and then there's only so much space behind before you hit the wheel as a shameless plug, i'd more than happily sell my headlights to fund an motor since i've now lost compression in a cylinder...
  8. that green car looks awesome, pity the driver is a hack
  9. that last picture looks awesome, heaps better than the thin red line around the bolts. however i'd keep them polished for a few months atleast until you were certain you wanted to go down one of the other paths (of which i'd go black centres red lip if its not a daily driver, purely because it would get to much attention as a daily )
  10. unfortunately they aren't clean in this pic roh venturo 17x9.5 -19
  11. no, the point of a hid "kit" is they rebase the xenon globes so you can put them into say h4 housing, actully they have a pic of all the different globes they sell and they have the proper globes in there, however in comparison to buying an OEM kit from HID planet that has proper bosch (etc) electronics you really would be wasting ur money on the cheap crap search hid planet, there is some h4 projector out of some car you yanks get that only costs like $50 for a pair and has an ok output when modified correctly, i can't remember the name though...and the difference is all in the projectors, look through some of the pics of ppls setups on it, sooo sexy
  12. there is a 1jz powered 240z in england i believe, it was built in australia. i am also wondering the same sort of things that you are, y not make the most of living in europe and put in an m3 engine?
  13. there's a whole bunch of different front ends you could definately modify to suit but alot have different headlights and i'm not sure how the bonnet would fit on etc and yes, the hsv peices of plastic are very ricey compared to a stock monaro front lol
  14. nice car, and i'm sure you'll have fun with it! please do the right thing to the car and put the hsv kit on it http://www.wholesalesuspension.com.au/pics/gallery/gto3.jpg the pontiac ve commodore front doesn't look to bad, but that pontiac front on the monaro makes me wanna or is it just a case of what i'm used to, and to people who are used to the american front it actually looks nicer?
  15. yep karts are awesome, i kept going on about them to guys at work as my bro bought a 100S (clubman class kart? runs a yamaha engine whihc revs to around 20,000rpm), then we went on hire gas karts and they were all addicted, meanwhile they are only about half as fast as my bros kart. it seriously makes driving the zed seem boring after driving a kart, so there are two options, buy a kart or hybridz the zed however his kart was AU$1200, a 125cc one here run around AU4-7g. the one he has is so much cheaper as its air cooled, and no clutch, it was lapping as fast as his friends 125cc rotax kart, but his mate only had crap tyres on so slid around every corner even more ...now i want to go use his kart again, or just buy my own
  16. the link provided for those vortex generators wont ship to australia craved? if so that sucks as i was thinking of getting some but would have the same issue... regarding the paint coming off i was concidering sticking them along the top of the hatch glass so they can come off easier without effecting the paint at all. heat can also effect paint yeah? i guess you just use the setting between wrecking the painting but still melting the glue. i'm sure they have less of an effect there though, but for use with a zg spoiler i would think it could possibly be better? and more sutle wouldn't there be people on ebay selling complete single-moulded peices for r33's that are a copy of the evo ones? on another side note has anyone played with 3m's VHB double sided tape? its crazy stuff!
  17. i also must thank alan and another member at classiczcars for the same thing. In australia you can only go 1" wider than what was stock for "the vechicle series", so now i've got some material to argue it with them over
  18. i got distracted watching these at work today those parker/indicators are what is on all australian 260z's as far as i know, however mine aren't anywhere near that clean
  19. i figured it made the most sense to post these pictures here, same wheels, same size, just with black centres i waited over 150 days for them! so the thread name really applies!
  20. looks beautiful, ur tempting me to black mine out! excellent find on the 7" headlight protector things, i'm assuming they help a fair bit with clearance at the back! how well sealed are they at the front? and are the just a type of plastic?
  21. it sounds like ur both talking about what a couple of guys including myself have done? some crappy h4 headlights off ebay with projectors mounted in them. the only issue is the depth of the projectors as has been stated in a couple of threads. the thread i started has pictures showing just how easy the whole "retrofit" is to do y dont u just make ur own whole headlight bucket and mount two projectors like halway down each bucket? i know its what i would do if i could b bothered...but my rear lights need some treatment first along with a rear spoiler, just bought myself an s15 gt spec one, i like and hate the look of it on the lines of a zed at the same time lol
  22. looks good, u should buy urself some markers so u can put some colour on the drawings. or alternatively dont shade them at all and upload them and have a colourin competition although ur prob best off to trace the image in illustrator anyway i guess...
  23. it was pretty much just make moulds out of silicon and then poor in the plastic, which i think they were getting from hobby/craft shops. i think i came across it at hidplanet, not to sure, you could always try googleing gravitational moulding or something? if i come across it i'll post it up, i've come across it twice so far lol
  24. the only issue would b stones flying and cracking the lense yeah? if so the headlight covers should do the job. i'm not understanding ur question regarding a 7" lense that doesn't stick out to much...mayb i'm just tired....ebay?
  25. agreed, hid planet is a great site, just like this, heaps of info. i just wish i'd signed up to it sooner than i did, instead i was asking questions on a bmw site, big mistake lol, but still ended up finding out what i needed to know the downside about hidplanet is it makes you want to buy better projectors...
