  1. Both my wife and I had RK surgery when it first came out as the newest technology to get rid of glasses. We both got to 20/20 vision but it only lasted about 3 -5 yrs before we were both back to having to wear glasses. Not sure if Lasik is suppose to guarantee longer results or not. But we were told RK was suppose to be a long term solution to wearing glasses. Tom
  2. I did it in December of last year but hard to remember if it was this cold. I will try the oil to see if I detect any change and then maybe the leakdown check. Thanks for the input. Tom
  3. Background: motor originally built in 2001 and used 2 or 3 times a year for track events only plus some run time while working on it throughout the year. Did a Compression check last year (210s)and just finished one tonight(190s). Pretty much an equal 12-14% loss across all 6 cylinders. Last dyno run had about 185 rwhp so it is not a high HP motor. Although it does have high enough compression that I had to run 105 octane race gas to keep detonation away. Is that an acceptable drop in compression? Is it most likely leaking in the bottom or top end? Thanks for any answers.. Tom
  4. I think a new door or at least a new skin is in order. What else is family for other than to give you more work to do. Tom
  5. Nice addition Jeff. A little better than the one I got rid of. I would say keep the undertray/splash guard. People are always looking for them. Tom
  6. I found a Chevron and a 7/11 fighting it out. Down to 2.05/gal central FL area.
  7. I solved that problem by just flat towing my Z to the track. Just used a set of plain tires to roll on and then changed to race tires at the track. The tow bar setup cost less then $200.00 then all I did was wire in the lights. I know, not good for the drivetrain. But if those snowbirds can flat tow all over the country behind their RVs it can not be that bad. Tom
  8. I am at the same point as you. Unfortunately I cannot find the cash to spring for the Wilwoods quite yet. I am going to vent the heck out of the setup I have now and see how it holds up for my next track event. Tom
  9. I just did a 2 day NASA track event at Sebring last weekend. As I watched all of the Vettes, Porsches, and Mustangs fly past me I wondered if I could ever be in the same lap time arena as those cars. 2350 lbs/185rwhp = 12.7 lbs per 1 hp. 185rwhp/6cly = 30.8 hp per cylinder. How do these numbers compare to other cars? I think it is way different then the cars I am grouped with. What cars have similar numbers to our Zs? I am assuming it would be the cars that SCCA group together in ITS. I even had a group of Thunder Roadsters in my group. Very cool cars. As soon as I get the video up I will post. Tom
  10. I am running the N42/F54 combo on my track car. The head had been decked several times before I got it so the compression is really high. We could only get rid of detonation after going completely with race gas 105 octane. We tried a mixture of premium/race and it was not enough to get rid of detonation no matter how much timing was adjusted. After 5 years of track events( usually just 2 a year) the motor still checks at 200 to 210 across all 6 cylinders. I am using MSA Stage III cam with triple OER carbs. Tom
  11. That's a great looking shell. With the running 77 280 that I am trying to get rid of you would have a nice car. Too bad you are way over in Texas. We could combine our 2 cars then sell it to make a nice profit. Tom
  12. Yea, I know it is harsh. But being the guy who has to go notify loved ones that their little Johnny or Susie is not coming home because they were killed in a car crash it is hard to see people posting street racing videos on a forum where most of the admins do not condone that type of action. You can live your own life but remember your actions affect more than just you. Being SAFE is all I want for all people on the roads. Tom
  13. So you are driving an unregistered car while street racing. If you get caught don't complain when you go to jail. You have been to the track to race in a safe, legal environment so you can test your car. I guess the rest is just to get your rocks off or prove your manhood. Tom
  14. I am selling the car because it is too far gone for me to repair. Floors, frame rails and most body panels have rust issues. Engine runs fine with working factory AC and 5 speed.
  15. After meeting/talking with him at several races he IS what a GENTLEMAN is suppose to be. Plus he lived his life the way he wanted, not the way Society/Hollywood told him he had to. Tom
  16. High horsepower, media hype to sell to people.... Lack of driving skills = crashed cars Tom
  17. Just stopped by our local scrap yard and they are only paying around $8 per 100 lbs. That is only around $150.00 and for that price I guess I will continue working on it. Tom
  18. Mechanically the car is OK, runs, shifts, stops. All the basics for a car to move. After getting the car up on stands and really digging around the under body is in need of a lot of work, pans & frame rails. Every body panel had some rust issue that needed sheet metal cut out and new put in. Need to spend more time on the track car along with all my other chores. Someone could save the car I feel it is just not going to be me. I know there is more money to be had by parting it out or rebuilding but I am at a point where I need to call it quits or go at it full steam. Pics are under member photos. It is the wine red 280. Tom
  19. I am reconsidering about what to do with the 77 280 that I picked up last year. Just wondering what other people have gotten for scrap now that metal prices have gone up. Do most places want the car stripped out or will they take it whole. Do they then discount off what they think the non metal parts might weigh and give money accordingly. I paid less than $500 and would like to get close to my money back. Tom
  20. I am running the Toyo S12 rotors with standard solid rotors with Porterfield R4 race compound pads. I am not sure how different the pads for the S12s are from the S12Ws but they had the ones I needed in stock. I have used them for about 5 track events with no problems yet. Brake fad one time but that was due to bad fluid bleed before event. I think I need to run some cooling ducts to mine to help with temps. Tom
  21. Yea you were right, the interior is in pretty good shape minus the carpet. You even have the same pedals as I do. I am in the same boat as you when I picked up my latest 280. Interior looked so good I overlooked a lot of the rust issues the car had with it. It now sits like yours on jackstands waiting to be saved. We all need some type of project to keep us sane. Good luck, Tom
  22. If you cannot find any info check out classiczcars.com they have a whole sub-forum dedicated to rally racing. Tom
  23. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=20694&size=big&cat=500 Just thinking back to when I had some fun with my old patrol car. If we could get the new Camaro when it comes out would be sweet. Feel like I will be stuck with a Crown Vic for a long while, unless a new Dodge Charger falls into my lap. Tom
