  1. Welcome back to the forum---at least you kept the car!! If you wiped out the cam lobe as jt1 suggested, I'm sure you know to replace it Actually, if you don't have the cam specs and don't know exactly what you have in there, why not replace it anyway with something that you know will work very well with your combination of parts? It's just a suggestion. EDIT: you seem to have some of the specs, but what the heck, new parts coming to your door is like Christmas in July I have seen bent push rods, but not a butchered one like yours. That is very ugly and would make me want to tear further into the motor... Davy
  2. Vinh, they made these kits in the late 1950's to very early 1960's. On the Kellison site link I sent you, there is at least one or more made into convertibles that look really good. The cars lend themselves to racing pretty well, judging by the amount of photos of racing Kellisons in the photo archive. If I had the space, I would buy it from you and keep it somewhat original. I would put some American Racing Salt Flat wheels on it and rock it all day long. The nostalgia of the body style evokes some cool memories of similar looking race cars. Man, if I had the space I would buy it. Good luck in selling it. I have not been able to find too much information on what they go for in the market, sorry. Davy
  3. http://www.kellisoncars.com/ The Kellison link above is about the most complete you will find--there is a ton of information on there, including history. Your car looks like it is one of the "middle" cars. Very very cool. Davy
  4. People are watching the thread and enjoying seeing your work. Too many replies just fill it up needlessly. Good work
  5. Vinh, I'm not into boats, but that Kellison kit car looks sweet! I think you should should keep it, paint it, polish it, then sell it. Those are rather rare and I think are one of the few kits that really look good in their design. Props! Davy
  6. I noticed that too...rather odd...6 lugs....hmmmm Love the style of wheel though Davy
  7. I would tell her that YOUR life is now complete. Man, the car sounds great!! She is competing against a great mistre$$ Nice work Davy
  8. I just threw up a little... Davy
  9. Thanks for sending me the link I like the photos of the Camaro I think you can more than recup your costs if you just part this sucker out. LSx V8s are the way to go. V8 = happiness---remember that Nice find!!! PS: your present get shipped tomorrow... Davy
  10. It's the August issue and I purchased it already. I liked the issue a whole lot--in addition to the Z article and the great Pete Brock 510 V8 article, it even had some great follow up articles from the $200X Challenge, an awesome AIX Mustang racer, a Megasquirt aricle, etc. Chock full of good stuff! Davy
  11. Neo, I don't work on my engine all day long, but I find that a typical engine stand is about the right height to work on an engine (I'm 6' 2" btw). I doubt you will find one that is actually higher than the standard height for a couple of reasons. First, an engine hoist should be able to pick up an engine from the stand easily---that would limit the height somewhat of a stand one would think. But the real reason is safety---the center of gravity is very high with an engine on a stand. Rolling around a stand that gets caught in a seam on the concrete floor means danger of tipping over. A higher than normal stand just would make the situation worse in my opinion. You may have to fabricate a stand that has a hydraulic lift on the "neck" part of it, although I think the idea of raising such a weight in that manner would be risky depending on the design. Anyway, that's my $.02 Davy
  12. He was buying them from someone else, at least for a while. My suggestion is to email Ross at Modern-motorsports.com and tell him what you need. He can have it made in any size or thickness you want. I have some MM adapters and some ebay ones specifically made for those 17" Mustang wheels. The aluminum on the ebay (Chinese) ones makes me shiver, the whole thing pales in comparison to the MM adapters (USA, baby) in nearly every way. Davy
  13. Tony, I am just rolling That is some funny shtuf right there Davy
  14. Good thing you are doing your research. If you use the search function, you will find that most of your questions will probably have been addressed in the past 10 or so years this site has been up. Our archives are full of great information, just like Joe said. The Small Block Chevy engines have the same basic dimensions and similar weights. The major difference between engines (cubic inches) is the bore and stroke of the motors. A 327 will not make near the HP or torque of a 383, yet they share the same basic dimensions. You should read a bit and do some more reseach about the engines in general. Get a good book like How to Build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks on a Budget by David Vizard. There are other good books out there too. Welcome to the forum. Davy
  15. HOOOHAA! Those are saweeet! Give us more info when you get it. I can't afford those, but I may win the lottery some time... Still it's nice to know what is out there. NICE. Davy
  16. Heh heh, hey Mongo, check the date of thread before you revive it Davy
  17. The Rotas look great! New wheels always gets the enthusiasm back into the project and it makes any car look better, no matter how bad the paint. Davy
  18. Aux, man sometimes I wonder about you---dude! That's horrible. I can't imagine that amount of pain to be in. I hope you pass the thing very soon and the pain just goes away. I have heard they can shatter the stone with sound waves, but I have never looked into it. I hope you get better soon!! The worst pain I had was trying to jump from a very large industrial-sized dumpster to a parking lot car stall roof and instead going headfirst onto the pavement where I broke my arm and had a slight concussion from my head hitting the pavement. Why do that, you ask? I was 2 years old; it was my job to do stupid things. Davy
  19. Wishing you the very best, Joe. You did do the right thing and I hope you are rewarded for your efforts. Nice to hear someone is making more money nowadays too Davy
  20. Your upper mount is very pretty and nicely welded Nice work, man. Davy
  21. The tensioner looks like you fabbed the bracket quite well. I'm sure you are pleased with the way it came out--looks great, really. Davy
  22. Many (most?) of the chemicals the pest companies are using are African flower based that kills insects, but are relatively benign to humans and most animals. Permethrin type of of pesticides are the ones I'm talking about. They are highly diluted so they are not toxic to humans. Used in higher concentrations, they also kill cats, so I guess they are not all that bad. Anyway, you need to put a quick end to the spider infestation one way or another! Davy
  23. Big Phil, you should have gone with Elvis Cadillac pink for the color, just to match the Elvis vibe you got goin' on--it would be hawt!! Davy
  24. The stock 350 will make a better DD in my opinion. You will have better torque and it's more cubic inches in the same dimensional space. Plus, if you ever decide to do some performance modifications, the 350 makes more sense AND if you ever decide to sell it, the 350 is more desirable and thus easier to sell. However, this is your money... Davy
  25. JHM, You, sir, have your JTR mounts in backwards. You now have LESS room than the standard Scarab mounts. I'm looking at your pictures and cannot believe the small amount of room you have---you should almost be able to stand between your radiator and your pulley, literally; there should be that much room there. I don't want to hijack the thread or embarrass you, but if you post more pics, we could verify that. If it is the case stated above, you are not the first one... EDIT: you did not state that you used the JTR mounts...you may very well have the Scarab mounts instead. Sorry for ASSuming! Davy
