  1. I have to give you props for fabrication. Very nice looking conversion. I cannot say I would do the same thing, but you have one of the few Zs with a rear hinged hood. Good work! Davy
  2. Eh, we all like horsepower here anyway, so it's not too big of a deal, really. I am probably going to build a rod in my future too. Is there a website like this one, only for rods, that you would recommend? I want to read as much as possible before diving into building a rod from the ground up. I Like what you are building there. Steel is best, but FG is sometimes cheaper!! Davy

    $80,000 240z

If it is insured for $80,000, I could see it getting 'stolen' very easily Davy
  4. Very cool. You seem to do very well buying bikes and then flipping them (figuratively speaking). Do you like the way this one rides/drives over the Triumph? Bargain price for that BTW! Good score. Davy
  5. What happens when you lose the 'key?' Davy
  6. Bingo! Good catch. The anti-rattle spring is found on more than a few vehicles. I just redid my neighbor's breaks on his Ford truck and there were similar springs on there. I personally like them and I reinstall them. Davy
  7. I think it is cool for what it is: basically a show car (I believe). The glass work looks pretty darn good and the airbrushing will hide any flaws. It's pretty cool, but it will need some really big, cool wheels to go with that theme. The front end is the best part of the whole car. Davy
  8. "With only 1600 miles this400hp Gt2 race car is fast. Costing over 100k to build it is a steel." "Costing over 100k" ...what? Surely not dollars... "...it is a steel." Plastic too... Davy
  9. Michael, thanks for making a group buy available for the members. Looks like a great quality piece and I wish I had a few extra coins to throw your way for one. Gotta wait. Davy
  10. HA HA! This is true...true to those of us that lived in at least two of the three areas of CA you mentioned. I have lived in Lake Tahoe (mountains), Davis (inland), and all over the SF Bay area (coast). I liked "inland" the least of all the places... Apologies to Mike
  11. I personally would spend time in the Napa Valley (Yountville, Calistoga, Glen Ellen, Saint Helena, Rutherford, yadda yadda...) The Hwy 29 (?) run, especially if you enjoy the finer things in life, especially romantic scenery and cozy locations, good food etc. Visit V. Sattui winery, Andretti winery, Coppola winery (if still there), and others. Check out the web for that. Monterey is cool, but Carmel is BETTER in my humble opinion. If the weather is decent, make it down to the beach at the end of the main row of shops & restaurants where the sand is white. I love that place. Great food everywhere. *Sigh* Yosemite and everything that Cygnus suggested is good too. Heck, just skip So. Cal altogether!!! Santa Barbara and San Diego might be more to your liking unless the LA thing really gets your motor running. I spent a quiet time on my honeymoon with my wife and we avoided crowds and busy places, but that is just our style and may not be yours. Do your homework and plan accordingly, but don't hurry too much. You'll miss the more important things... Davy
  12. Scotty, Auxilary used motorcycle turn signals for his airdam and they turned out great--flush with the curve of the unit: As I recall, they were very cheap. Hope this helps. I think it is an elegant solution and the best one I have seen so far. I would have side markers match (yellow/yellow or clear/clear). Davy
  13. For right now, I cannot think of a better way to do this, so here it goes: 1) Removal of the current flares and filler down to metal in the rear. 2) Weld in sheet metal that mimics the stock body radius of the wheel arch (but w/o the lip since you are installing ZG's. 3) Fill and blend the new sheet metal, primer, paint, drill for ZGs, install ZGs, drive like you stole it. I think this is the best and possibly only true repair of the damage done by the PO. It is somewhat labor intensive, but not hopeless, especially since ZGs will cover a lot of sins. The key is adding enough metal to get the new flares into the stock location. Good luck with this project!! Davy
  14. I took advantage of it. Thanks for posting! Davy
  15. Your comment adds nothing to the thread and Ulises is Mexican for God's sake. It looks like he had an accident while racing or something and we'll find out soon. Davy
  16. Dude, that is terrible, BUT I'm glad you are still alive. The car is replaceable. I'm making a mental note to myself to make sure all of the fuel connections are tight before ignition I never want to experience what you did. Davy
  17. You will get a lot less responses from the crowd since the Z31 is not the primary car of choice for doing engine swaps. Also, most "testing the waters" threads are getting tiresome---> Very few seem to make it to production ever and we don't allow vendors to pull money from the members before having an actual product to sell as per the rules due to the SNAFUs of the past. Your idea is a bad idea at all. You just have a much smaller niche of people to market to. If you believe in the business validity of what you can produce, offer them for sale with photos, etc, on a website and post the link here on HybridZ. "Build it and they will come," is the phrase you might consider. Your orders will never be huge, BUT you will get some buyers over time if you get the word out there. If someone was considering the swap and Googled it, when they only came across your website, who do you think they would buy from? Just my $0.02 Davy
  18. Very good follow up, even after a few years Davy
  19. Agreed. If weight is really an issue, go on a diet If one thinks about it, the difference in weight between a full tank of gas a nearly empty tank is significant, yet the difference in the driving feel isn't enough to bother me at least... Sparks280zt had some great suggestions as well. Davy
  20. Beautiful car. I love ZG flares and I love this car. The body looks like a "kit" although I'm sure a competent fiberglass man could create something similar. I'll take three, thank you. The only thing puzzling me about the car is the from radiator support. I would love to hear John Coffey's take on that and what it does for front end rigidity. It seems to me that a solid bar (no hinges or links) would be better. The stock radiator support, although weak looking, does help firm up the front of a Z car. I'm wondering about that strut bar being used in it's place??? My question is whether or not this is truly acceptable as a replacement. Is it ideal? I'd love to know. Davy
  21. Nice! You know, they do make V8 kits for those things I wonder if they make a Buick turbo V6 kit? Eh, you can fab it up anyway Congrats! Davy
  22. I am not aware of any ones made for the purpose of drifting a 240Z. I have seen the 240SX types you refer to, but you may be on your own to fab something up. Eh, it's what we all do... Davy
  23. Very unique looking for a 2+2; I like it! With the aggressive wheels, the car looks like it will mean business once it's finished. What engine, Mate? Davy
  24. Names removed to protect the stupid...INDEED!! That's too much, but unfortunately typical?! I hope the buyer is a REAL hybrid z car guy. Davy
