  1. SBC = Small Block Chevy Gen 1 is 283ci to 400ci. Gen 2 comes 5.7L or about 350ci. The engine and tranny choice is up to you, depending on what you want the car to do and what you want to do with the car. That also determines (sometimes) what transmission you'll use. Money is also an issue. Davy
  2. Mike S, you have a killer car...and about the nicest exhaust system I have ever seen--all stainless, no? From the angle it looks like the sparkplug boot will touch the header...but you have already check that right? What is the clearance with the boot on? Davy
  3. Try section 2-4 of the JTR book where they state: "The Chevrolet motor mount, part no. 3990332,...." I used the index in the back... Davy
  4. Looking really good!! This is going in place of the LT1, eh? I was hoping to see your LT1 personally before something like this happened, but I guess it was inevitable in the quest for speed Will you be at the Rio Vista meet with the car? It would be cool if you were finished before the meet. Davy
  5. John, are coli-overs are possibility with you? Either yes or no, you could still contact Ross C at http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php since he has a ZX with and EFI V8. I can almost guarantee he'll have answers to your questions. Davy
  6. Exactly correct. That's one reason I always stayed with powdered explosives; the liquid ones are too dangerous IMO. I did have fun with iodine crystals and ammonia though... (don't let it dry or try it home kids...) Davy
  7. Yes, that is 100 F or more---HOT! It was 60 degrees and sunny here....T-shirt weather almost. Davy
  8. Why does that just sound...wrong? Davy
  9. Shane, if you are looking for a standard (read: non-LS1) Chevy V8 conversion, I'd contact JTR and get their book and parts (or have them made). Otherwise, John is the only kit going for the LS1. Davy
  10. Buy that man a balloon!! Davy
  11. No, don't worry about ranting...this is a common complaint abut guages or sensors being incorrect in their readings, just like my spelling BTW Pete and others have suggested always testing them first before fitting them to the car. I know Autometers are not the best, but that's what I'll put in the car anyway!!!!!!!!! Davy
  12. It does not look a lot like the Hummer, except for maybe it's size. Amazing that they were able to keep that sucker looking like a Jeep X1.5 scale. Davy
  13. Hmmm, I could use that line once in a while! That was too cool, Aux! Davy
  14. I think the price is totally 'bargain basement' for the quality, Ross. From what you said, you really have gone to some great legths to make this work! I would have gone this route, but I already have the CCW's in a 4-lug pattern Perhaps in a future Z project for me? The bolt pattern appears to be a Ford/Nissan/Toyota 5 bolt pattern which would allow a myraid of aftermarket wheel possibilities, especially ones with more negative offset for our RWD cars. Then it would be possible to buy wheels much more cheaply then to have CCW or similar companies make them in custom offsets. Someone can be money ahead by buying these and then buying some of the more common RWD wheels available; excellent Wide wheels for flared cars are no longer a large cost issue!!!!!!!!!!!!! Props, Ross! You are a real enthusiast--thanks for looking out for the Z car community Davy
  15. Len, they didn't take all that long on my car. I went there this weekend to look at the work and pay them some money. I have to have my glass installed before driving it back home, but the work looks pretty good! The whole car is not primered and I really don't care at this point--just the top of the car with that yellow primer (I'm only a fan of it when the whole car is that color, but I do like grey better in general). I think you can have the wires--hopefully Kevin won't mind! Davy
  16. I did hear from him a short while back and he is doing fine! In fact, his blues guitar talent is in demand in AZ apparently and he is hopefully putting "something" together. He is not into Hybrid cars at the moment since it is not in the cards, but he is happy and will hopefully drop in one of these days. Davy
  17. Alex, buy the body kit and some of their flares. Then have a competent bodyshop install the flares so they'll look like they were made for the car. The 240Z wide street flares may not just be a rivet on job for a ZX, but a good body shop should do it well for ya. Also, consider going with metal flares as they can easily be trimmed and welded on. Davy
  18. Doug, this sounds just like something I'd like to do in the near future. I'd really like to go to barrel locks on the doors and shave the lock completely on the hatch--that'd look super! I have been thinking about where to locate the lever, but you just solved that for me! Many thanks for all the details too. I am going to an aluminum gas door from an Eclipse and if it requires a cable, I might just use the lever for the choke, heh. Please follow up with a few pics if you can and add them into the thread/link them to the host site/album etc. Thanks again! Davy
  19. Wow! The project just seems to be growing and growing, but at least you are making good headway! Nice work too Davy
  20. The Q45 motor would work well in a 240SX and be relatively smooth. Just the stock motor would give the 240SX a real kick in the pants! Davy
  21. I would think TC is an electronic system in many cases. The Q45 has an LSD that is mechanical and is not TC. You are not lying if you tell them "No TC" and end up with the LSD, the only one they made during the first body-style anyway (I don't know about the later ones). Davy
