  1. I'm still around, although I have been so busy with planning house remodeling, my job, and my four (soon to be five) kids that I can't even seem to read email much anymore, let alone get into the forum as much as I would have liked. LoneHDrider (the first Lone to the forum) is in AZ and is doign well, but is out of Z cars at the moment. Good to see Alsil still on the forum-good to hear about your son and hope his recovery continues. Davy
  2. This is my favorite quote from his ad: In 1980, Automobilia, an auto brokerage firm in Stanford, Connecticut quoted that "based upon the limited edition nature of the car (limited production), the fact that Datsun has discontinued production in 1981 of the exterior/interior color combination (i.e., black and red, respectively), ...I estimate the market value to be in excess of $25,000 with 5-8% appreciation hereafter." Well, that quote from 1980 did not hold true based on the market for Z cars, so why even put it in there? To confuse the ignorant buyer? Caveat Emptor. Davy
  3. Good to have you back. Car is running again, eh? Any new mods? As far as Andy goes, I think he is engulfed with boat racing... Davy
  4. Man, that really bites. Sorry to hear that about your daily driver--makes it difficult to get to work! Hopefully all will get sorted out... About the gas station attendants that pump your gas: hey, no need to tip them! I was a bit taken aback when I first rolled through Oregon a number of years ago and they would not let me pump my own gas. Paid the same price so I wasn't upset (I'm cheap ). Davy
  5. Car looks really mean! I like the sinister black and sans bumper look you have going right now. Heh, keep it that way Davy
  6. You at least have AC and a fine stereo now Nice car, just keep it in one piece!! Davy
  7. Having a hard time without your user name & password Davy
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4146756343 Some funny stuff on there...and no, I wasn't looking for one Davy
  9. http://www.rontyler.com/ Ron does a great job of telling one how he did it cheaply. Keep in mind he has tremendous know-how. Davy
  10. Way to go, Buddy! Congrats--the heard work paid off and your car is now immortalized on the front cover of a magazine!! Somewhere, I have a mag with Terry's car in it too (quite a few years back) Davy
  11. Markus, I really like your hood scoop man! That silver looks so clean, like I could eat it or something strange like that. Keep me away from the car, I'm just not safe... Seriously, that is about the best scoop I have seen for the car that completely nixxes the original bulge. You got the 'look' just right, like it was actually meant to be that way. Davy
  12. LOL! Brett, I hope you can get it in there, that would be cool!!!! Davy
  13. You guys just crack me up! Thanks for making my day Wait a minute...its true Davy
  14. I seriously hope you didn't hurt the engine. Are you using synthetic oil or the regular stuff? Sometimes that stuff is supposed to give you an edge, but I don't know... Best wishes. Davy
  15. Welcome to the forum. Quick answers for questions: 1) 240Z (any year) but if 280Z works in your area, use that instead. 2) That's JTR manual material for sure--read it cover to cover. 3) R200 or "it depends on what you want to do with the car." 4) Heck no. Everything has been covered in this great forum ad infinitum, so you may find and download just about all the info you need. I'm sure you'll find this place invaluable to helping you with your worthy endeavor. Davy
  16. I just recently had the roof on my 240Z "reskinned" by some bodyshop professionals. They said it WOULD NOT be a good idea to chop the old roof off and weld in another. They left most of the old roof intact and cut only the skin off of the donor roof to use. I also had them shave the drip rails and side vents at the same time. It came out great and I'm glad I don't have a pathetic moon roof anymore! Davy
  17. Eric, I also wanted to thank you for posting the links to your site with the pictures. I do hope to see more of the Pantera-style hatches on the road since they are being produced once again. They are unique in that so few Z cars have them, yet they look like they could have been produced that way. Davy
  18. Great to see your guys posting again! Looks like you are still making some great progress and the workmanship is looking top notch. I'm very happy that you have chronicled (sp?) your work on a website for everyone to see---pictures say a thousand words! Davy
  19. Dale, the pic is too small for me to see anything significant. Anyway of blowing it up a bit? Any other pics? Be careful about rusty frame rails... Davy
  20. All it takes is one little ride to get the adrenaline flowing again I just drove dmanzo's 11.16 sec 383 Chevy powered 240Z last weekend, and I think I can humbly say that I made a new committment to finish the swap this summer after I changed my underwear. Aren't overpowered cars fun?!??? Davy
  21. Yep: Manta! I have liked those things since I was a teenager. They don't look half bad, and with the V8, they should fly. Pretty cool, but pricey too... Davy
