  1. No pics yet, but I'm happy with the work. They took off the outerskin from the donor roof and welded it up on my car. From what they said, they kept the "framing" on the car without removing anything structural, only the very top skin. If they are telling the truth (and I believe they are) then I won't see or have any cracking or structural problems when the V8 is installed. I paid serious low dollar (under $700) and that included the reinstall of the windshield. They gave me a good price because they don't have a ton of work right now. I'll go back and get the rest of the car done when I have more money. Paint will be the last thing. Even if I had photos, there is really nothing to see at this point. The roof looks like a regular Z roof, but no drip rails and no vents. Davy
  2. Norm, I think Don Manzo (dmanzo) installed an airdam on his Z, a 383, 700R4 11 sec car, but I'm not sure how much he frequents the board! If he's the one I'm thinking about, THERE WAS a difference in times. I hope he sees this. Davy
  3. Too difficult (obscure?) to say, but since the older Maximas had the same L6 engines, I would say this is true. I would check to see what you rear diff gear ratio is as well. The most practical (cost effective) rear gears are 3.54's, which came stock on most Z R200's. Just a thought. Davy
  4. I like Scottie's for the simplicity and cost: almost nothing. Granted, this is not the mount, but the restraining strap--it's all good and keeps everything in place...no clunk. Davy
  5. I think it was Lone Star 1, but it is hard to remember. Oh well, mas280 came through for us and posted the pics! Thanks!! Davy
  6. The car sounds like a good thing, Ross, but it will not be as quiet or comfortable as your ZX ever was, despite the sweet V8 your ZX had. Still, it may be a truly good thing to buy, especially if the price is right. The 406 would be an awesome motor, especially with EFI, like the LT1 efi. If you adapted the efi and ran some lower compression pistons, you could also turbocharge the motor and have that quiet exhaust note that you seek....not to mention ungodly power Davy

Like this? It was in another thread just below... http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30486 Davy
  8. Any email to you keeps getting kicked back! I have emailed you a number of times and cannot get through. The answer to your question is "No, I never received the cover." And 'yes', you still have my current address. Thanks, Davy EDIT: I received the cover 2/2/04. Thanks for your help!
  9. Ask Owen about copyrights...does 'Wangan Midnight' ring a bell? Davy
  10. Sweet looking car, but without the broken glass Stupid thieves. Davy
  11. Don't forget Victoria British either. Also, Z Barn has used pieces if you want used parts. Davy

    Super bowl!

The entire halftime show was really lame and tacky. They had a captive audience and I feel bad for the parents of whose kids had to watch and listen to that "music" and Janet bare herself with the help of Justin T. The whole halftime thing was just dumb and did not mix well with the whole football event--they seemed to be completely different worlds. Ah well, looks like MTV ain't gonna get the chance to do it again. Davy
  13. If you autocrossed, road raced, or drag raced the '96 Camaro, would that make it a "race car?" By his definition, it would. Things have changed on the Camaro, yes? And it might do really well at the track, so it is a race car. Sounds like your friend just likes making up nonsense. Davy
  14. Lone Star has an LS1 Camaro console in his Z if I remember correctly. Crazy, but it looks great in the pictures. I'd like to do something "different" if it fits well. Davy
  15. You know, it hit me right after you left my house the other night... Just install some cast iron weight in the front end! Dude, I have a lot of weights I can let you borrow to get that front end planted like a normal car! By gosh, we'll get it done. I'm thinking you could weld in some rebar to hold the weights in place and viola, you're just about there Davy
  16. All these things are toxic, but the MTBE stuff is especially bad--that stuff call kill MTBE is all over in the environment now and they never should have used it as an oxygenate. A lot of respiratory problems have become worse because of it and it just does not belong in the water or food chain. Politicians and environmentalists are to blame for making engineerig decisions they should not be and "helping to clean up the air." I noticed my mileage going down, not up, when they introduced this stuff a number of years ago (1995?). I do like toluene and xylene, though--they smell great Davy
  17. I would be very interested to see what you think about their product and how easy it was to install, etc. Cool. Davy
  18. Pete made an excellent point point of "bastardizing" a Z car---there is NO way to define this, period. If putting ANYTHING non OEM stock parts on a Z car is "bastardizing" the Z, then they are guilty of it too to some extent, especially since they no longer use the same brand of bias-ply tires, steel wheels, etc. By definition, ANY modification makes them as suspect. That's why I love Pete's credo for the site, that this place was not a site to debate "how far" the Z car should, could, or would be modified, but that it was a place for the free exchange of information to modify the Z car period. Die, purists Davy
  19. There have been thread on this before. This is one of the areas on a Z car that is prone to flexing according to John Coffey and others. A bit more bracing then factory is a good thing, especially those cars that are driven hard. Davy

Get your gas mask, that thing must smell something aweful. YUCK! Nope, it is Taiwan! You get that nasty smell anywhere you go... Davy
  22. Tell me about it! Stupid to legislate one's beliefs on builder's who build according to what "the market" wants anyway, so I don't see a present problem like they apparently do... If there is a market for feng shui, builder's will go to that style/system automatically WITHOUT the government's 'help.' We have building codes for reasons--everything else is style, nothing more, and there is freedom when it comes to that. Sometimes I dislike California Davy
  23. Hit "img" then paste the url, then hit "img" again. That only works if it is hosted on a server. HybridZ can host it for you easily and you have 8(?) spaces available for your pics. You lost the ability to moderate when we switched over to our new format. Again, welcome back! Davy
