Pete, I may or may not, but my Norton is up to date. As most viruses go, if they exploit a user's address book which contains my email address, it can look like there is a virus coming from anywhere. I do appreciate the information and I'll look into it further just to make sure. In the past, I have received a lot of virus laden email from all sorts of members on the site--but many don't have a virus. Davy
  2. The previous owner of my Z installed a 6AL unit in the L6---works fine. I plan on using it for a V8 soon. Davy
  3. Aux, do you get the mag? If not, I'll let you know when mine arrives and I'll let you read it. For $5 I buy the magazine for the hybrid Z cars, period. If and when they do tech articles, that's ok too. But all the Z31, Z32 stuff...ugggh. Davy
  4. That's the truth. Glad to hear you made it out ok---just get some therapy for the back and hopefully all will be well. Mark made a good point about settling with the insurance company and getting another Z. If they try to stick it to you, make them find a very very good replacement for you. Sometimes they quote ads they see and if you are in the know, many of those cars just are not in good shape like many of our own cars. Keep us posted. Davy
  5. Since they are so cheap (relatively speaking) don't worry about it and just use it. I bet the cam performs very well and you'll be fine. It may be true that they are not the best/most expensive cam out there, but they beat stock by a mile. Nothing wrong with not running a bunch of overlap on the cam either BTW, especially for your application. Keep us updated and let us know what you think about the cam when you run it. It should have good low end torque and pull right to 5000 rpm. Just be darn sure you break in that cam correctly... Davy
  6. Nope, you are wrong there! Smashing everything gives a certain amount of sadistic gratification that cannot be quantified. It's like slapping the person who lowballed you I worked in car sales for years and would have "our friends from countries far away" come in and 'negotiate' from about half of retail. Not worth my time. That is the kind of customer that you will have to invest a day's worth of work and customer satisfaction skills for $100 commission. Yes, I did aquiese and actually worked with such people for a day (or more) for a measily $100, but at least I moved inventory when things were slow. Davy
  7. Car and progress are both looking awesome. Very nice components and workmanship indeed! Davy
  8. Mike is correct about staying reasonable with respect to cam size and he makes some great suggestions. I bought the K1103 cam & lifters from Summit for my relatively stock Camaro V8 (1977 motor with 8.5:1 compression) for my ZV8 conversion. I read quite a few of David Vizard's books and also (the best for 'stock' engines) Tarrant & Hawkinson's How to Build Small Block Chevrolet Engines on a Budget. I came up with the K1103 cam and it's specs from the information I gleaned from the books--it fit the bill until I bought some Edelbrock heads with much smaller chambers (64cc vs 76cc) that bumped compression and flow. I should have held off on the cam until I had all the other parts together... Davy
  9. The Kaminari kit is a nice looking kit IMO. I have seen them in the past and I like the way they look in person. The front airdam is the bomb, even just by itself, but it is very expensive too. Go with what YOU like. Davy
  10. Excellent site, Rick!! The pictures are very clear and detailed--nice work. I have the SportZ article, but I totally missed the Sport Compact Car article!! Nice to see a V8Z in there, heh Maybe this summer (or even before) I'll be bolting up the 3" system I bought from you a few years back Davy
  11. BlueovalZ: Terry, I'll be sure and put pics in the sweet website gallery that Auxilary has made for me under datsunracing.com Soup80: I'm not sure about their ability to do that, but I did hear that the old guy worked in a Honda tuning place and does stuff like that. I'll let you know how my car turns out and then I'll recommend them. For me it's "wait and see." I'm going to have them do more work to my car if all goes smoothly with the preliminary job. Jumbo: Jon, I'll be sure to put them online via Auxilary and I'll provide a linky Innerware: It's M&L bodyshop off of 11th in Oakland (I hope I remember correctly). Again, I'll recommend them if the job(s) go well. Price is good for the time being and I hope stays that way. I'm not made of money Davy
  12. The GN motor looks like it belongs there Big intercooler too---what kind is it? Did you fabricate that? Looking good! I figure your car should do pretty darn well in the quarter mile. By the looks of it, I'd say that's where you were headed with the project. Keep up the good work! Davy
  13. There is something wrong with the KKK story: A bullet fired into the air comes down at a much slower rate, reaching terminal velocity. It also rarely, if ever, continues spiraling but instead tumbles which also slows it down. I can believe the bullet would have imbedded itself into the bone of the skull, and maybe even puncture it, but not all the way through! That seems like a bunch of hooey. Maybe there was someone in the tree that fired down on him??? Ya never know in that neck of the woods... Oh, and the lady cop---too funny! Davy
  14. Idiot! Want to possibly kill an innocent person? That's the way to do it. What would he tell the judge if that happened? God protect us from idiots like that---and God protect them from us should they hurt one of our own. Davy
  15. Dale, they are shaving them off completely to give the car a very clean look--smoother is better IMO. Tim, I'm being charged (about) $600 to do the roof, rails, and vents. Now, this does not include having to replace the windshield or its weatherstrip... Still, I cannot argue with the work I have seen them do, or the price!! After my car is done to my satisfaction, THEN I will recommend them. Davy
  16. Yes, for those who actually care, I have finally decided to do something to my Z and bring it to a bodyshop. My friend Kevin told me about this place he has his car at and about the good metal work they do for pretty cheap (business is slow, so prices have come down a bit). I looked his car over at the bodyshop and these guys do some pretty good metalwork! I'm having them reskin the roof to eliminate a stupid, leaky moonroof, shave the driprails, and shave the rear vents on the C-pillars. Once I inspect the work when it is finished and it agrees with me, I'll have them do the rest of the car and take ALL the dings, dents, etc out of the car. But, with the moonroof fixed, I'll feel like I can do some interior mods and get my Flofit seats in there. I have been dreading doing this because mold grew in the car last winter when it leaked...ewww. I'm hoping to start the V8 conversion in the spring. That would buy me enough time to get the additional pieces I need like a clutch, shifter, and gearzone balance shaft for the T5. I could kick myself for not taking the "before" pictures of the car. Oh well, it kind of sucks as is anyway with no mods and that leaky moonroof. Davy
  17. So what does my 37 years do to the average?? I need more hair... Davy
  18. Closest things to 'perfect' cars as I have ever seen--not one scratch, ding, nick, dent, nada. Show quality from 1 inch away. Davy
  19. Aerotech does not have a website, but was at MSA two years ago when I was there last. I'm sure that they are still around--or at least their cars are anyway. No help, but maybe a member has a business card with a phone number for you? Davy
  20. Lookin' good Chase! The color reminds me of Porsche "Guards Red" is what I think they call it--red, but almost orange at times. Car is looking smooth and sweet--thanks for showing the pics. Davy
  21. Man, in my dorm there were NO people that big or guys that had a room filled with *gasp* toys... Davy
  22. OK, so it will be cheaper, but that car will be worth more with an AMC 401 tucked in there--sweeeeeet! Davy
