  1. only 1000 hp. Very very inspiring---muchas gracias for posting that link. I made sure I downloaded it Davy
  2. Make sure the hammer is leather covered--metal to metal contact is a no no. Davy
  3. I want to make sure I understand what you are asking: NUMERICALLY lower--meaning 'higher' gearing. 3.36 gears are higher but numerically lower then 4.11's. Correct? I think I understand...Scottie wants higher (numerically lower) gearing for his GN powered car since his engine produces the best power and goes through the traps with those gears. Otherwise his car won't get down the 1320 fast enough. Going to a 4.11 gear ratio doesn't work for his particular car. 4.11's work great for underpowered L6 powered Z cars or heavy American muscle cars, but when you get a V8 powered Z car....then the higher gears (lower numerical gears) are great. At least I hope I got that right... Can we call you "Boob job boy?" Davy
  4. That is a killer deal if they are still that price for a Z or ZX I would jump all over it IF I was wanting a bolt-in cage. Davy
  5. Personally I would say "No." Relays are fairly generic and most Datsun parts are interchangeable. I think using parts from other cars is 'fun' too--especially trying to make it work. Fusable links are a PITA IMO, so eliminating them is a smart thing--go more modern Davy
  6. You may have a bunch of gunk in your radiator. You may have no fan shroud. You may need a new thermostat--does it work for sure? A solution in my mind: radiator flush, thermostat, Redline Water Wetter. If it still does not go away, pressure check the radiator for leaks. Davy
  7. Ed, you calculations are probably correct if you took into account the present offset of your wheels and the increased width. Although I have NOT done the measurements, from an eyeball point of view that looks "about right." Ross C has all those calculations I'm sure, so go ahead and email him what you have and what you think will work--he'll either confirm it, or he'll tell you what would be a better solution. Maybe he'll chime in??? Ah, also: are you using coil-overs or no? Davy
  8. Although I have not purchased ALL their equipment, I can tell you they are great guys to do business with and I have met both of them I have the rear 240SX brackets from Ross and a 240SX brake package as well--not mounted yet... Davy
  9. "Block huggers" is a term that describes the close relationship of the headers to the engine block--if you want the best, Sanderson is hard to beat (but their prices reflect their quality, so be prepared). The flanges are so thick they don't need gaskets... http://www.sandersonheaders.com/ Davy
  10. Ross, this is what I was thinking, but I'm not even sure that this would make enough of a difference to justify the cost. I have to admit, the system looks great! I hope it gets resolved though, since droning can make you mad at speed... Davy
  11. Try "Peeler" on it first--not as harsh as Aircraft Stripper or the like. It's made by Kleen Strip I think. Yes, do be careful about getting it on the surrounding rubber (not good). Davy
  12. A leopard pattern would look quite nice--hey, a lot of guys put it on their motorcyles or car hoods. It might have been Alcantera (fake suede leather) available from automotive upholstery shops... Anyway, the idea of using speakerbox cloth might be good, but trying to clean the stuff might be a chore. Then again, if it is in the back of the car, what's the big deal of having the dash done in the same stuff? The Ferrari's that I have seen on the street have almost a leather look to the top of the dash. I'm not sure if it is, but it looks that way. Other things that take longer but that would look good if done right: carbon fiber, Kevlar or a similar aramid fiber. These products won't split in the sun Davy
  13. That is absolutely fantastic!! I have been considering barrel locks, but the only ones I find at Pep Boys have "APC" on them---and we know that just won't do on my Z. Dan Juday: thanks for posting all that information, Bud. Your willingness to share info is admirable....it also keeps me from making the same mistakes Davy
  14. Been neglecting your car lately, eh? Davy
  15. up from me to you!!! Lookin' great Thanks for posting the pics!!! Davy
  16. Should work fine; I see no reason why it would not work at all. A V8 car would benefit from the additional bracing. Davy
  17. There are a number of threads dealing with the subject--look for posts (do a search) by "Auxilary" who is bound and determined to make his swap work! There is only one guy I know who had one in the 1970's, but not recently. Aux is going to build one though... Davy
  18. Ditto. Also, way too much negativity on that board for what?!? Pointless, mindless, etc. The membership on this board rocks! Davy
  19. I cannot wait!!! I think Mike may be doing the injector bung modification to the manifold!!! I am stoked!! Davy
  20. It's one of the absolute coolest looking race cars of all time IMO. I'd much rather own one then a 427 Cobra open top. Davy
  21. Dan, make sure you post in the for sale forum!! Davy
  22. Better give Ross a call just to make sure! Your setup looks fantastic! Did you use special caliper paint on the calipers or just regular enamel? Lookin' good! Davy
