  1. Flares are MSA "Street Flares" not molded into the body, just riveted on. The color (although it is impossible to tell from a screen) looks like silver with complementing "gunmetal" grey metallic flares. Without an exact paint code, you will NEVER duplicate this color. My advice would be to pick a silver color you like and then a complementing gunmetal color for the flares. Than, go from there. Reality is better then the screen in other words. Davy
  2. Or you can go to http://www.modern-motorsports.com and ask Ross C what he can do for you. He is a good guy and has competitive prices. Davy
  3. You did a great job. Keep it up! Davy
  4. David K, you are taking this personally, and it is NOT an attack on the ZX at all. AFAIC, there are a lot of Z parts with ideosyncracies--this may be one of them or it may be not. In any event, if he got a hold of a lemon part, that is the fault of the rebuilder. That said, I don't think the seals had adequate time to dry out--that just does not make good sense to me. I would think that autoparts stores would need to be able to stockpile everything, and that certainly would include all brake parts. I think Zline said it best: I decided to do the 240SX swap instead, so I bought the 240SX calipers and rotors from FL327 and the brackets from Ross Corrigan at Modern-motorsports. I'll do the swap AFTER I purchase the Xtreme 13" brakes from Ross hopefully this summer. Davy
  5. This is really non-tech forum material, so I'm moving it there. Davy
  6. The car really looks like it is on fire--truly the best I have seen as well! Thanks for posting that pic! Davy
  7. CCW makes those wheels. They are the three-piece version of the ones I have for my Z. They are not light though but are strong. Davy
  8. Hey, we could install that on your car in just one weekend! Just think of the possibilities!!! Davy
  9. Mike, I'm sorry to hear of all the difficult situations you and Donna are having to deal with. I'm praying for ya. Davy
  10. Methinks they are running out of ideas and just put anything in there for content. I think they are working with a finite number of combinations that will capture most reader's interests and that article you mentioned sounds like one of them. You are very right in saying that an engine conbo has to matched in order for it to achieve the best results for an intended purpose. Davy
  11. Jeff, you should also post in the 6 cylinder forum and the turbocharger forum as well. I would think you'd have plenty of guys wanting that for their cars. Davy
  12. It could be fuel or ignition. I had some strange problems with the car dying and such until I replaced the ignition module with another one--problem solved. Oh, and I was blowing fusable links too until I did that mod. Davy
  13. That is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion. Oh, and to the second part of that, the answer is: "Not unless I kill you first!!!" lol Davy
  14. Pete, this website can host some of your pictures in your own photoalbum. Put some pics in there, man! We wanna see watcha got! Davy
  15. Jon, try emailing Ross Corrigan at http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php for a line on those; perhaps he can get you a better price or can make some recommendations. Just a thought. Davy
  16. Looks great; thanks for posting it! Davy
  17. I think you'll have to do a search for the one guy that was doing his conversion. There have been a few threads from about 1.5 to 2 years ago with a very cool conversion. Does the search function work? You may have to search each forum. Ugh. Davy
  18. Wow, that is even more simple then ScottieGNZ's fix but uses two pieces instead of one piece. I still may do the Scottie fix and use some rubber in between the diff and the strap to isolate it. Nice work. Davy

If you can find out where they tow it, the yard may release the car for sale after a while w/o ever going to auction. There are towing yards here in the Bay Area that do that kind of thing. I have been to one in particular that had a Datsun Roadster that my bro picked up for $300. What a deal. Talk to the yard and find out about how to get it from them. Make sure you don't overpay for the car either. Davy
  20. Do it, z ya, do it! But seriously, have you heard this thing run? It sounds like a great motor with gobs of torquey power, but do you need that kind of power? Man, I do! I like the idea of a 400 with 6 inch rods--I get goosebumps just thinking about it. It would be one heck of a motor, and plenty of fun in the Z. I have never ridden in your car, but from the sounds of your 355, I thought it was enough. Only you know what you need. Just keep it hush hush from the wifey Davy
  21. Dude, you post on this board! Yes, you are crazy lol Seriously, Scott, I have been afflicted with a nasty leaking moonroof from a previous owner and I have given a ton of thought to this topic. What you suggested MIGHT work for him if, in fact, you could keep the sheetmetal from getting all bendy--and apparently, this is very difficult to do once you cut it from a donor car. The majority of bodyshop advice I have been given is to cut the old roof off at the pillars and weld in a whole 'new' roof from a good donor car. That is a best, least messy way of handling the project. Is this cheap? No, but neither is having to weld in new floors every few years because the leaks cause water damage to the metal... The key would be to fine the lead that seals the welded joints between the roof pillars and the body--heat the lead, melt it off, make the cuts from there---voila, just like factory 8) I will have this done eventually, and I can't wait for that day to arrive!!! Davy
  22. Dan's car is a great work in progress...at least it runs I can't say the same for mine yet...at least not with a V8 I paid $650 for a good running V8 from a 70's Camaro in a Chevy wrecking yard--this came with a bellhousing and flywheel. Some say I paid too much, but it was a newly rebuilt motor and was complete in every sense of the word...took me all day to rip the smog stuff off. Davy

  24. Perfect! I'm always looking for a cheap way out and that is a great example!! Davy
