  1. Tomahawk nailed exactly what I was going to advise you to do. I have roughly the smae engine as you do, but I have a Weiand Stealth manifold and I went with the 214/224 Summit cam (K-1103). The hp combo is higher then 300 HP BTW if your heads are aftermarket and the compression is 9:1 or greater. Just food for thought. Davy

  5. Len, the endlinks look the same from what I could see when we did Auxilary's sway bar swap. I'll look for the end links to that bar--I do have them someplace around here, but I do think the stock ones can be used for now. Davy

Also if the person you direct a question to does not answer right away, an email sent to them to notify that they have a topic of interest might get more discussion going. I don't think big blocks will ever get the amount of coverage small blocks do, but that does not diminish the swap's importance in the least.   8. "Licensed for sale only in Japan" is what this box says... Trying to decifer the manufacturer and part number is nearly impossible; 99% is in Kanji. I may be wrong on this, but here it goes: Manufacturer: Kodansha Item #: 18131 Funny thing is, he bought the model in Taipei, not Japan. He said it was about $17 or so. Not as good as a Tamaya kit, but pretty darn accurate as to the dimensions of a scale Z car. I don't know where to get another one, sorry Jamie. Davy
  9. Len, as far as modifying a turbo, I'm not sure, but Coast Fuel Injection in San Jose (no website) is good at rebuilds with decent prices. They are at least worth looking into and asking questions. They rebuilt a Garrett for me that I put on 60,000 miles before I got rid of the car with no worries. Davy
  10. Yes, they can be swapped on a 240Z, no worries. I had an early 260Z with 280Z springs--fit fine. The only thing that is really different in using the coil-overs is the diameter of the strut tube--the 280 is a tad larger in diameter, so you have to get a "280Z kit" for a 280Z suspension for the threaded sleeve to fit, but the spring is a no-brainer and fits both cars. The 280Z spring is a higher rate because the 280Z is a heavier car. Davy

  12. Pretty cool! I (my son) was given a Bit-Charger mini RC car that I have been having a blast with in the kitchen. Very fun! My bro gave me a Wangan Midnight 1:24 scale model kit, Wangan Midnight comic booklet, and Evangelion Neon Genesis Series 1, 2, & 3 DVD (anime). The wife does not know it yet, but she gave me a Holley 650 DP!! Davy

  14. Mike, not trying to be nosey or anything, but why the decision to go external vs internal? Cost? It will be interesting to see how you solve the possible issues with the harmonic balancer in trying to get a reasonably priced one that's the correct size. Arg more money... Davy
  15. Jeb, there has been some talk lately in some of the other forums about wiring harnesses and the like. Painless Wiring and Ron Francis are good units, but are rather pricey for what you get. There are other kits available from different companies for less money and they seem to be just as good. A few members have tried wiring their own harness and have had success. See if the search function is working and try some of the other forums. Good luck. Davy
  16. Racer X, would Peeler be safe for the fiberglass? My reasoning would be that it is benign enough to take off paint sans primer, but I suppose if there were no primer to begin with then that might cause a problem? Davy
  17. Perfectly said. The subtle, clean lines of the Z car land themselves to body modifications that are as clean & tidy where "less does equal more" in terms of design and appeal. Bodykits like the YZ kit, etc. do change the entire look, but do so in a complete manner, thus keeping in line with a look that is extreme yet acceptable. My $.02. Davy

  19. I think the VB stuff is the Precision weatherstrip. I have heard from Yuichi that it is not that bad anymore, but I would like to confirm it. They used to distinguish between the 240Z and 280Z sets, apparently, and the 280Z set fit the best on EVERY car so they changed it to be a universal S30 kit. That's the story best I can remember it. Don't sweat it if you already bought one. Also, an Isuzu Impulse door strip is supposed to work with some trimming at the ends to fit. Davy

  22. Actually, you'll be doing yourself a favor whatever route you take. First, just getting some better heads with a smaller cc will bump your compression up to a more reasonable level. That could possibly net you 50 hp to 100 hp more with the compression ratio near 10:1 over your 8.25:1. Your current compression is killing you, period. Get some decent heads and be done with it. If you turbocharge, you WON'T need to lower your compression. Just make sure you run forged pistons for insurance. A forged crank would be good too, but don't forged 400 cranks get kind of pricey? Just remember---going the turbo route will net you more potential streetable horsepower, BUT it will cost more converting to EFI, etc. Since you have cubes already, get a good set of heads that will lower your compression and be done with it.
