  1. www.modern-motorsports.com Go to this website and email Ross about them. Also, if you do a search, anything related in the past six months will yield good info. I have seen his adapters firsthand, and I can tell you they are VERY well made. Davy
  2. I think you'll win the race--provided that you hook. Either way, it'll be one heck of a race. Davy
  3. Just watch out for the CHP hiding in the shadows when you go WOT! I nearly got burned yesterday for doing that...left in first gear, wound it up, noticed "Smokey" in the corner of my eye, boom--shut the car down really fast... Davy

Jason, It's easy to get offended when what is being talked about is dear to your heart. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions my friend, whether we like them or not. I have to believe that this thread was not meant to be overtly offensive to you or anyone else, but it was airing out some frustrations and opinions. I also enjoy just about any form of auto racing, and I also love to see SBC's running against each other--but I also like F1 too Hang in there! Davy
  5. I would personally go with the 750 (it's what I have on my motor). I would use a DP if I was racing all the time, but for the street the 750 should work well and get better mileage. I'm not sure how much vaccum your cam produces--you may want to find out from someone else like Grumpyvette. You have 9:1 or greater compression, yes? Davy
  6. Jon, you may want to call him at Performance Plus in Dublin--he's been busy lately and he's not going to be around there much longer FYI. Davy
  7. DOH! Now you guys have me worried --I'll have to go check my JTR part with the diff--I know the diff has a round shaft flange and it is from a '78 280Z if I remember correctly. Davy
  8. And if I had Jay Leno's wallet I would send a few bucks to SEMA and any politican/PAC that fights this stuff. Sometimes paying for that kind of 'service' is actually a good thing. Still, I hate politics... Davy
  9. I have been getting a chuckle out of going to work each morning I drive across the Dumbarton Bridge in the East Bay. The toll bridge booths have to be 8 or so wide and are the perfect place to fight for position after paying my hard earned $$$. All the lanes become just three and every Tom, Dick, and Harry are jockeying for postion. I have picked up a few good races in my Q45 and enjoy just stomping the throttle and seeing the lesser cars become smaller objects in my rearview mirror. I'm waiting to line up against something a bit more powerful than a Acura, like a Stang or Camaro or something! Heh heh, should be fun. The only thing that bites is that after a few days of doing this, I noticed that the CHP would park themselves just a 100 feet after the tolls! Ruin my fun... I know it's not much, but since I'm working a lot, I'll get it any way I can Davy
  10. Idiots--this is precisely why we need logical politicians in office to keep this kind of crap from coming down on the (poor) people, like me. These guys can take their smog laws and eat it for breakfast--the fiber will help with their severe constipation... Davy
  11. Try Lone's site and see what he did. I know he is using that kind of a fan and his works well. Davy
  12. I suppose you could, but if these are not 'special' zero gap rings, please invest in new ones. To me, this is like using lifters over again--you can do it, but why??? I am on a very tight budget at the moment, but rings, lifters, even cams! are things I would get new for a rebuild. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Davy
  13. Almost nothing if you are talking strickly 280Z's. Davy
  14. Kewl! Nothing nicer than a great running V8 engine! Davy
  15. Thanks for the info, Grumpy! FWIW, one of the best assembly lubes I have ever used is Redline--it is so tenacious and more resembles the consistency of butter than an oil. I have found that it keeps its 'body' even when the weather changes. In very hot weather, however, it can separate, but a stirring of the contents returns it to normal. Totally worth the money. Davy
  16. I think it was BLKMGK or someone else that has angled plugs--ran into a few problems with header clearance. (I could be wrong about this, but a search will reveal more info). Also, I know there are at least two guys on the forum that run angled plug heads with no issues. It really depends on the header to head compatability. FWIW, I have straight plugs and I have at least 1/8 inch clearance between the thick plug wire boot and the header itself--no burned wires for me!! Davy
  17. Do you think a stock unit will live if it sees 5500 rpm on a regular basis and 6000 rpm only on occassion? I would like to keep the stock balancer on my engine, but I do have a Fluidampr I was saving for a 'race' engine build-up. Davy
  18. Two good places to start: 1) The JTR manual. Buy it and read it--it has great information on smog related swaps. 2) The HybridZ search function. All of the smog legality has been covered a dozen (or more) times and has really been explained well by some of our most knowledgeable members. 3) CARB website. You can always read about what is legal and what's not straight from the horses mouth. At the moment, the laws are quite reasonable for the Bay Area IMO, although that could change. Keep reading posts on the related subjects and you'll educate yourself--make sure you take notes. Davy
  19. Excellent info, Brian!! I appreciate the link and the very useful information, with great photos too ,that I can use for my own project. Davy
  20. Pete, the Redline Racing Oil rep at the Good Guys meet told me to use straight 30W for breaking the engine in--then after that, switch to the other oil. Seems like good advice from someone who knows. Davy
  21. Sounds absolutely wicked, man. I'd love to see your car burn the hides at speed. To me, that just says 'POWER.' Davy
  22. Mike, let me know if you decide to dump those Edelbrocks.... Davy
  23. I did see that other book in B&N and took a look at it--I was VERY impressed by the descriptions and illustrations. I will probably end up buying both of those books in the near future. Davy
  24. Ummmm, smog equipment? Surely you must be joking! I find it hard to believe that other parts of the country are doing dyno checks and whatnot, while we here in Kali just do a sniffer? Geez, for once I'm glad I live here...and for a 240Z yet no less! Lone, I'm not doubting the info above, but to hold a 240Z to that kind of test is just stupid IMO. You might want to contact their Air Resources Board just for fun (info). Davy
  25. I can't wait for a dyno test either! Good job flowing the heads! Davy
