  1. My neighbor in Fremont, CA "sold" his great condition '78 Datsun pickup to them so they could crush it. I had no idea he was even contemplating such a thing--it was stupid and I think he lost money. That body style had the same great lines as the older ones, and I'm sure that some kid with an old truck is missing straight, rust-free parts due to the State's great wisdom. Funny, but they never bothered me for my 240Z while I lived there. Davy
  2. Kudos to Jim on remodeling the kitchen. When I lived in CA, I did something similar, although not as large. That, and two bathrooms, crown molding, etc, etc. That took too many years (haha!) and now I have a newer house that only needs some paint, but has a 0.5 acre lot that I have to mow Kids, kids, wife, kids, in-law's house, kids, not to mention a job that I have been working 12 to 13 hours per day lately *ugh*. There isn't a lot of "me" time in the equation (read: "car time"). Still, I don't know if I would have chosen a different route for my life...maybe an income of $1M+ would have been be nice but that's about it. Kudos to Yasin for the stair railing--you just inspired me to do the same to mine! I have EXACTLY the same railing, etc. The wrought iron uprights look awesome. Hmmm, next house project Davy
  3. Oh good, my memory isn't completely trashed after all. I still love the car, Dan. Wish we could have done one more BBQ before I left town, but that's life! Davy
  4. Haha, sounds like me, but I'm house rich and have a lot of kids. Income has grown to fill the needs, but I still never have quite enough to just drop thousands 'needed' on the Z car. Someday. Davy
  5. The wheels were worth the trouble and make the car look even better than it actually is (stock anyway). My brother owned several roadsters and they were heaps of fun and extremely reliable despite their age and originality. Quite tough actually. The only thing that seems to destroy them is rust, but other than that, they are solid. Great find and nice "polish job" Davy
  6. FANTASTIC!! Gotta say some serious "Thank you" prayers now--awesome to hear! Davy
  7. Ah, I thought the avatar was one of you too. A body of work to be proud of for sure. Just watch those joints and ligaments; they remember what you did to them when you get older Davy
  8. Scott's car rocks from every angle I have seen it in and no, those aren't YZ flares... Scott? Davy
  9. It's like they're saying the people driving them can't see either. Talk about egocentrism at it's worst. I wonder if they even have a concept of sight?! I mean, the people driving the cars can see the blind folks trying to cross the street...krikey. Davy
  10. I'm not Irish, but sometimes I wish I were. Seriously, the Guinness Brewery is the Mecca of brewery tours I'm told. If you can stomach the stuff, by all means sip from the mother's boob if at all possible. I'm not a fan of the dark drink, but I swear I'll make it to the brewery when I get to IRE one of these years. I may even enjoy it Davy
  11. I hate to point you to ebay, but when I was searching for "the" Momo wheel, I went there and was amazed at what I could find. If they don't have what you're looking for, just wait a while and it may show up. The most difficult thing I ever waited for on ebay was a Pro 5.0 shifter for a WC T5--that took a year to turn up, but I got an awesome price too Just hang in there and keep scouting ebay!! Davy
  12. My guess is that is a common photo used for every application. The Z kit won't look exactly like that I'd bet. Email them and see if they'll give you what the spring rates are---that's very important... Davy
  13. Ah, you may be correct. I remember he had to add a fender lip to the edge of the YZ rears...maybe I mixed that up somehow. Still, the Subtle Z curves are sexy and a nice alternative to the radical YZ. Both are great, but just different. Davy
  14. Yes this from a few years back when I actually had hair. And yes the AR has no clip when this was taken... I'm sexier now. Davy
  15. Like a flat chested, narrow wasted, but big butt woman. Nah, I think It would look OK, but might be better with Subtle Z fronts, like Dan Juday's car. Search for Dan Juday and find a post with his car in it. Davy
  16. A real STUNNER!!! Looks fantastic in black! Davy
  17. http://www.google.com/custom?client=pub-3543793485173468&forid=1&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&cof=GALT%3A%23008000%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3BVLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BALC%3A0000FF%3BLC%3A0000FF%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A0000FF%3BGIMP%3A0000FF%3BLH%3A50%3BLW%3A126%3BL%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fforums.hybridz.org%2Fimages%2Fmisc%2Fvbulletin3_logo_white.gif%3BS%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2F%3BFORID%3A1&domains=forums.hybridz.org%3Bclassifieds.hybridz.org%3Balbum.hybridz.org&hl=en&q=cooling&sitesearch=forums.hybridz.org I searched using the search function just under "cooling" and received about 10 or so threads covering the issue. I'm sure that "fan," "Ron Davis," "Griffin," "radiator," and a number of other possibilities would yield even more results. What cooling come down to is airflow. If you read within the forums and use the search function, you'll uncover a lot of info about the Z car's design and how to maximize the airflow through the radiator. Good luck with finding a solution! BY the way, is your V8 swap set up JTR or Scarab? Davy
  18. Bartman is one of the best sources of information for this swap and was the one that came to mind while I was reading your post. Voila, he answered a little bit down the page! Anyway, my advice is to do the LT1 swap and use the JTR method for doing it--the LT1 was the last of the 5.7L SBCs that worked with the basic JTR mounts; nice and simple. We have some good info on this site that should keep you very busy reading and I'm sure your swap will turn out just fine after reading about your experience in doing swaps. I think your son will have one of the fastest, smog legal cars in the area. Good luck. Davy
  19. This is all good stuff--great advice. Davy
  20. Hmm, that fits under the dash of a Z car? Nice. Wish we had them here.... Davy
  21. Good advice here. I have read many of the threads and posts about a roller job and I admit it's not for everyone. I have also read Pat Ganahl's How to Paint Your Car on a Budget that goes into how to DIY. I think I'll go the latter route since the final product should (in theory) need less work in the end to get a decent looking outcome. One thing I did like was the boat paint. That stuff DID look intriguing and offered a better finish. Granted, it was $30/gal, but offered better results overall. I think spraying that would be the best thing though. Davy
  22. Jim, I had good luck on ebay when I was looking for a horn button. Although this time I didn't go with a "Datsun" button, I went with a Momo one this time. However, I think ebay is your best bet. Davy
