  1. Keep up the good work, Derek! It looks like you are headed in the right direction with this. I'm sure it will come out looking good too. Davy
  2. I also saw this car in person when Hoover owned it, at a Datsun show in Sunnyvale or Palo Alto (I can't remember where anymore!), but I DO remember the car distinctly: the larger spoiler does balance out the looks of the car, while the "whale tail" is almost vestigial in appearance. You could combine the looks of the two spoilers and have a third, more aggressive whale tail made that came out a bit further from the back with some flat black accents, ala extreme Porsche body kits for '80s 911s. It would look rather hot By the way, your attention to detail in the restoration is excellent--the car looks even better and 'cleaner' now than when I saw it before. EDIT: I never read the second page in the thread--you've already got it covered... Davy
  3. Great thread! Fantastic, detailed pictures too--thanks a bundle! Like the "this is what resin...can do to you." That was too cool! Nice looking shop too. Davy
  4. My family's Caravan/Voyager in the '80s went through three transmissions (under warranty fortunately). My parents didn't learn their lesson and bought another in the '90's. Same thing: transmission troubles. They were all the V6 vans. Then, somehow, they bought a dogged out turbo 4 cyl version of the van that was actually faster and lasted longer than the other vans! It just would not die. No tranny problems with that one FWIW. If I was to do a mini-van, I would do a Chevy Venture (although I'm not even sure if they make them any longer--I'm not in the market!). Davy
  5. http://www.leechvideo.com/video/view2199127.html 911 "getaway" from police in Stockholm, Sweden. The police don't look like the genuine ones, but the video is great aside from the rap song in the beginning. Davy
  6. Sorry to hear about it, Dan. I hope the cops find it only slightly customized, loaded with good stuff. I can hope can't I? Seriously, I hope you get it back soon. Davy
  7. I think the point he finally rolled over was the point at which the skin on his face lost all of the moisture and then finally caught, sticking to the mat surface and finally forcing his body up and over his head. Now watch it again! Niiiiice Davy
  8. James, I think they have been bashed for their Chinese made turbos more than anything else. From what I have read they don't hold up the same and some have purportedly been 'glued' together. I won't buy anything other than name brand in a turbo, but headers? Maybe. They look good to me and are made of stainless steel. The pics show decent welds too. I have not heard too many complain about the headers, so you might as well take the plunge and let us know what you find out. You won't find more bang for the buck if the quality is decent, that's for sure. Davy
  9. 2" hail easily breaks windows and dents cars (think: ball-peen hammer). I went through that in Munich, Germany in the 1980's. I can't imagine what 4" hail combined with tornado force could do! Steel and concrete are my friends. Glad you were OK out where you live, OTM! Davy
  10. The chunkier wheel and tire look better on the car in my opinion. The other style just didn't make it. I like the flares you fabricated--they look really good on there! Davy
  11. Wow, either gunmetal or black...decisions, decisions! Cool!! Davy
  12. AJ, why don't you go for some Talbot mirrors or similar ones for a Cobra? Is it the brushed look you like? FWIW, the base doesn't look Z car door friendly. You may want to rethink the idea. Davy
  13. Drugs will do that; so will mental illness....and lying. Dork. Don't touchee me car... Cool story. Davy
  14. It appears to be classic "Scarab" (Hooker) location. Not bad, but not the best in my opinion. The other kits, especially JTR, are better for engine placement. JTR requires the extensive modification of the hood latch if you go with an HEI distributor. Davy
  15. Nah, I just use Firefox and it underlines each misspelled word. Just like "Nah" at the beginning of the first sentence. The one catch phrase from Verbal Advantage is, "People judge you by the words you use..." That is true. In written form, it becomes even more evident. I would say that many on the forum who don't use proper grammar or punctuation take longer to gain credibility with the other members. Why? For the simple reason that it's difficult to distinguish their writing from a kid's writing who may be ten or eleven years old. Thanks to all who make this a better place for the search function and my aching head... Davy
  16. Yep, build a sturdy crate around it. Make sure you drain fluids before shipping!!! Davy
  17. Nice truck. I have the 1500 (5.7L) and it still only manages about 12 mpg on average, so I wish I would have bought a big block instead. I like the lift kit and the color too--how many inches, about 4 it looks like? I'm stuck with the dark metallic red in all my used cars it seems. I suppose it beats dark green. I like yours even more. Davy
  18. Haha! I can see it actually is vinyl now. I like it! Please make sure you post the pics when you're finished with the installation. It's going to look great!! Davy
  19. Bryan, I have two questions: 1) What is the "color" composed of? I know it's black, but it almost looks like cloth instead of paint...but then again, maybe I have blurred vision. Vinyl? 2) Does the setup directly emulate the glove box like an exact fit? It's just difficult to tell when it's separate from the dash. If so, that rocks! The fact that you'll tie the whole thing together with upholstery makes it even better. Davy
  20. I have never heard of this guy, but these videos are pretty inspiring. I like the attention to detail and the fact that he doesn't muddy up the picture with the pencils. Enjoy! http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1894130/6249890 Mustang http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1903204/6307044 Porsche http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1903248/6306272 Chick Davy
  21. So Randy, you went it alone there right? Your girl stayed here--is looking out after all your stuff and your boat? I hope you stay safe! Davy
  22. He does, I believe. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Davy
  23. I second John Washington's quality parts. I have the Subtle Z hood and it is a quality piece for sure. I would consider him first for a complete "kit" over other providers. Davy
