  1. Lookin' good! Good to see you post again--haven't seen you a while. Davy
  2. Funny, but this makes me think of the Datsun pickup Auxilary and I saw on the way to the gun show yesterday: '67 Datsun pickup with a 350 Chevy motor, solid rear axle ( 9 inch?) and ladder bars. It looked so cool, almost like a roachy gasser pickup or something. If you need pickup help, this forum will get you started: http://www.nwde.org/extras/forum/default.asp My friend down the street makes disc brake upgrade kits for the pick ups. His work is on there if you look under "projects" somewhere. Davy
  3. Well in that case, bless your heart and flare away. The car will look like it's on the steroids it truly has inside. Keep the pics coming through the build here or in the Member's Project's; I'm interested in this one! Davy
  4. Great find! The low rise windshield ones (SPL311?) are may favorite ones. I'm not saying it's not in good shape, but some of the upholstery and dash look a little on the 'old' side for having such few miles on the car. Still, it's all original and that's what is important. I think this one might be best left stock due to it's originality, but that's your call since you are the new owner. The color is a good one--my brother's SPL311 was the same Datsun color: kinda silver, kinda gold, kinda green (almost). Enjoy your "new" car! Davy
  5. So he can get it in his name and get insurance for it. Califathugs, go to DMV with all the info listed above. You'll have to make out a "Statement of Facts" and then sign it--they have the form. After you have made a 'reasonable effort' to contact the previous owner for the title (don't worry, you just have to say that you did), the DMV will probably issue you a title for the car in your name. Now, that is the way it worked before, so go to the DMV and talk to them about it; I believe that's the way it's still done. Make sure you register the car as a non-op so you don't have to get the car smogged until it's running. Your registration will be good for keeping the local police from towing it if it's in your front yard. A car with expired registration is usually ticketed and eventually towed in many cities in CA. Davy
  6. The vid is a repost from the "How fast, really?.." thread: American engine, heh. Davy
  7. Ah, so I was close Datsun = Nissan (sorta). That's good enough for me. At least I was quasi-right about something. Although it's not really for me, the swap looked pretty good in person. It's not a shameful thing, like a 240Z on 35"'s as stated above... Davy
  8. Not bad. This is for a pint at a time? If I get desperate, there's blood, a kidney, a testicle, who knows?! The possibilities are endless. Hmmm, more money for the Z. I like that. If that's true, then there's one here too. I gotta look into that. Davy
  9. Glenn, why in the world would you want to repaint the car by adding flares to it when the paint looks so nice from the pics?!? This is a great looking car--I wish my silver was as nice as yours! Davy
  10. Man, 1st post and he decides to come in and pick a fight? Must be drugs or alcohol. Either way, he be gone. Davy
  11. If no rusty in the frame rails, jump on it ASAP. Davy
  12. My brother, an EE, sent me a link to this. Even though I'm not an engineer, I thought this was just too funny. It reminds me of the Caleco blinker fluid and drilled brake lines, etc. Nonsense, but funny nonetheless. Davy
  13. Wayne is correct about the car and it is a pretty cool ride powered by a 350 V8. I think the guy did a small burnout when I was there. I think the guy grafted the Z to a 4x4 (Toyota or Datsun) pickup. I like this particular 2+2. Davy
  14. This looks like a great option and thanks for letting us know about the price of the plates (nothing extra!), Myron. Davy
  15. Heh heh, my kind of people for sure. I lost ALL my guns in CA due to failure to register them with the state in 2000---I was out of the country, but that's life. I won't get political here. Warren, that's some great advice. I'll hopefully get out of the office and drive the area the time I'm over there. I'm keeping my mind open if they make me a decent offer; I'll be just another Yankee driving up the local real estate prices. West Cobb county, hmmm. Wayne, I think the question is what will I do without Auxilary if I move! He's a good friend that always helps me out with IT and computer stuff. He actually built my computer from scratch. Good stuff. Guys, on-line I have read (hearsay?) that if your child gets a B average in school or better, he can attend a state college and the tuition is paid for? Is that true???? Davy
  16. Hollandia products are good quality and we used them when I was in the car business a few years ago. I can't remember anyone having an issue with the units after they were installed. I personally don't like sunroofs ( = sunburn on bald head) but IF I were going to buy one, the Hollandia would be it based on my past experience. Davy
  17. "Nerds" that can create great automotive art are not "nerds" by definition; they are Heroes. Remember that Davy
  18. Wow, a lot of 'em. My kind of people Davy
  19. Haha, it doesn't have to be all that, but a lunch or dinner get together would be good. I'll keep ya informed. This time it's work for me, but I won't be in charge of 5 kids. I think I can spare some time. Davy
  20. Ryan, I used the frapper to find who on HybridZ lived in the Atlanta area, which is how I knew you were there too As I have searched the cities/towns, my wife was most impressed with what one could buy in your town specifically. She also likes Marietta a lot too. Thanks for the replies so far and the info. More choices is better than fewer!!! At least I know where to look if the time comes. I hope the weather will be decent when I get there, especially on the weekend. I was thinking of driving up to Columbia SC to check out the area too, but only for a day. Davy
  21. Good to know; thanks for the info. If I move there, I'd be working out of Roswell, believe it or not. I'm not too sure about distances and all that by looking at a map on the web if I lived in Alpharetta. Roswell looks nice from the website, but a little pricey in comparison. Schools are big issue with me since I have a lot of kids. Also, I'm into paying as little in taxes as possible Davy
  22. My company is sending me just north of Atlanta for a couple of weeks. If I like it, I may relocate in the future. For you guys that live in GA, in your opinion, what is the best city or town near Atlanta? I know several of you are near there: admin Mike kz, Ryan, & Warren to name a few. Prices look better than CA and Alpharetta where Ryan lives seems to be the best bang for the buck, but this is all I can gather from the 'net, which is limited to say the least. Anyone want to chime in? Davy
  23. If you can remember the 80's, you weren't there Davy
  24. Haha, funny thread. Yeah, I used to have weird dreams when I was kid, especially the ones where I'm at school and notice I have no pants or underwear on. I used to absolutely hate those dreams when I was young. Now that I'm older I wish I still had those dreams; it might be kinda fun now!! I once dreamed that I fell down an elevator shaft from five floors up. I didn't wake up until after I hit the ground below which was loud as hell since I fell into a mass of rebar. It's BS when they say you'll die if you don't wake up before you hit... I used to dream all the time when I was a kid and I knew I was inside a dream. Yes I took control. Yes I had to go to confession. Davy
