  1. Mikelly had it on his car when it was white. Maybe PM him or perhaps he'll see the thread and comment. I think there have been two done since HybridZ has been around; Mike's was successful, but I'm thinking he eventually changed it for a different 'look.' Davy
  2. I doubt Datsun Restore would sell crap, so I'm not surprised that you found them to be good quality lights. Davy
  3. This picture is all the business: I love the look of the front end, especially the way the hood looks from front to back--nice! Airdam looks right at home with the "smooth" look--a good compliment to the car. This is certainly one of the meaner looking 280ZXs I have seen Davy
  4. I think price of say, a Tilton unit, makes my head spin. If this think fits in the tranny tunnel, the price doesn't look too bad... Davy
  5. Ant, welcome to the forum. The Buick V8/Rover V8 is a nice little package and would do well in a Zed, with or without boost. Since the car can handle an engine as large as a 5.7L Holden V8, I think the Rover would fit just fine, frankly. As far as the VG handling over 1000hp, I can't answer that, but I'd venture to say "No," at least not in stock form. I would be shocked to hear that Nissan made the bottom end that strong. You'd think they would have put better turbos on the car... Davy
  6. Welcome to the forum. Glad you searched...and you're correct; there is very little information at all on the Z32 swap. You are essentially blazing the trail. All Z32 conversions have been custom one-offs, meaning no "kits" are available. So you'll have to measure, cut, weld, hammer, etc. Good luck! Cost considerations consist of making a list of the major components (and any minor ones you can think of) and then multiplying the total cost by 1.5, which will give you a rough figure of what you'll need. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=110873 Good photos on this thread. Davy
  7. Ask Austin about his FMIC---it was (last one) and is (new one) from ebay and cheap if I remember correctly. I don't think they are an issue really. I think the Treadstone ones are cut up truck ICs with new end tanks welded to them. Funny, but I have not heard too much bad stuff about them. The Spearco stuff is $$$$$. I'll take a $100 chance on havng a mediocre IC if that's what happens, but I think they'll work just fine. My $.02 EDIT: Yes, the whole freakin' thread was about cheap ICs: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119377&page=2 Davy
  8. https://shell7.tdl.com/~jags/Pages/Parts_DATZX_MountingInstructions.html You should get some good info from Mike's JTR site. This page will help you in considering what to do, even if you make everything yourself. Davy
  9. Jon, in CA they have made it nearly impossible to install baseboard heat (except in high rise condos where they don't want a towering inferno), so gas is it. Apparently gas is just that much better as a heating source. I've always liked forced air, but radiant floor heat is pretty cool too Davy
  10. Sounds like a pretty darn good deal to me. I'd hit it. Davy
  11. License plate in the middle of everything looks odd. Most hang from the front bumper and are thus mounted lower. Also, check your airdam to make sure it's not deforming along the bottom. Those flexy airdams tend to stay bent after a number of years from the air pushing against them. A number of guys have braced the front lower lip to keep them in shape. Davy
  12. I think the tank is a little thin for that being an absolute necessity, but it would be a final option. I really like Pop's M-80 idea more than any other I've heard so far Sounds like something I'd do...even without a dent Davy
  13. The metal work looks like it's being well done and I certainly commend your efforts. Thanks for the pics BTW. It's been said, "Anyone can modify a car, but it takes a real man to cut one up!" Davy
  14. Good answer. I'd like to see what the 302 can do in the Z. I KNOW what a 383 can do Davy
  15. AWESOME! I have to rent it. I wanted to see it when it came out, but life got in the way. Davy
  16. Very cool looking car---I noticed it on ebay as well. I vote for LS2, LS1, or even an LT1 + T56. That would make the car complete and a joy to drive. Congrats! Davy
  17. He removed them for fun? There is not rust apparently and it's never been in an accident, so why no firewall or passenger frame rail? Makes no sense to me. The only appealing thing is the "no rust" and "all parts are there." Davy
  18. Jon, I edited my post since I didn't know what you guys look like--those are celebration smiles of the winners AFTER the race. I just didn't understand the photo. Cheers. Davy
  19. It's takes a VERY good paint & body man to make that happen. Glad you got your money's worth!! Davy
  20. Ripz, thanks for making a build thread--the photos are bigger and better. No one can reply to the build thread except moderators, so it's a good idea to have this one out here too (the build/project thread is supposed to be continuous). Davy
  21. The new turbos look significantly bigger--are they hybrids too or what? I think your car will be too fast for sure Good job and looking clean under the hood. Nice. Davy
  22. Some foreign countries have state paid for tuition, which is basically free. I should have studied in Germany for two years or so when I had the chance, although English is easier for me to understand I say go for it. Living abroad makes one's mind open up. It would be cool IMO, but just don't kill anyone driving on the wrong side of the street Davy
  23. Hey Marcus, I thought you wanted to sell the car lol! I think you're an addict, man, you just can't stop!! If the interior is the way you like it, you could try to replace just the offending wires. However, those inexpensive wiring harnesses from the rodder magazines and ebay are awfully tempting, no? There's EZ, Its-a-snap, and a few others.... ...so which harness are going to purchase? Davy
  24. Wow, look at all your guys crying with joy after the race Winning is sweet, hehe. $10,000?!? You were obviously being nice to him. I think his paint cost him $10,000 alone. Good job, Jon. Davy
  25. Yep, it's been discussed before. I'm sure you won't regret it either, Bryan. The job looks just super and I'm sure it'll flow like no tomorrow. I also have a 3" mandrel bent system, but it's not in the car yet. Nice work BTW! Davy
