It looks like they are WORK wheels in white, at least from the 1 shot of the tire for a fraction of a second. Nice vid! Davy

Jon, Many thanks for the T-Shirt and all you sent me--I received it yesterday in the mail and it rocks!! I never had a signed shirt from anybody before, so this one is it, baby! I'm sure I'll be wearing it to any local Z meets!!! I watched the video and slide show yesterday with some of my kids. It was very cool, especially PINKS without commercials. The recap on the slide show of the issues surrounding the Barney car was enlightening. I guess you guys shined it up a bit for him too---that was classy. Thanks again! Davy

You'll need the safe to keep the guns from 1) the single mothers that live in your building or 2) their bratty kids Lemme know when you want to move BTW, the SKS is still my favorite. Davy

The rust areas can be checked with a magnet. As far as the back end is concerned, look at the areas under the hatch. Look at the seams, look for rust bubbles. Look under the car and see if the underside is rusted or even if the suspension pieces are covered with rust. Some rust on suspension parts is expected in your part of the country, but if everything is crusty, I'd be careful. Look in the wheel wells at the front of the car and look for holes in the "frame" and check for badly done repairs. If the car seems solid after you've checked everything, it may well be OK. Go over the history of the car with the owner, if you can, and get a feel for the car and where it's been. The llist you've put up above is impressive and seems to be what a Z enthusiast would do for a Z car. I'm not familiar with the car on the forum, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Perhaps someone else can pipe in. What the guys have said above is good advice. Davy

smalll block chevy balancers (350)

Check with David Vizard's books. I believe he says that a larger diameter dampner will help with et's believe it or not. In comparison tests, he says run the largest one you can find, because the car will be quicker! This defies logic, but I'm one to put faith in Vizard's research. As stated above, you'll be limited to diameter size depending on your engine placement, which should be your biggest concern--it has to fit to run first! Davy -
What Pop said plus... The price of the car is relative. If the car has very god detail and is built that way, then the price may be realistic. Perhps the rarity of the car in your area may dictate that. In CA, the car is overpriced in my opinion. If the tranny were a T56 and it had an LSD, then I would say it was slightly overpriced. Car looks good from the pictures, but make sure you check for rust. If it's rusty, be careful---it's like you are looking for a long-term relationship, but you'll end up with an expensive one night stand instead. Davy

Good work! That's what is supposed to happen when everything works as it's supposed to. Congrats! Davy -
UPDATE: Ha, I received the brand new Pro 5.0 shifter in the mail today! Yes, it's not used like the ad said, it was brand new and was $135 shipped Guy must have given me an incorrect tracking number, because this one came via UPS!! Must have been a misunderstanding. He did finally email me back after I sent my second email. Thanks to all who piped up in this thread. Kudos. Davy

In CA it's $5,000 and it costs $75 to file, period. You can file a small claims lawsuit for $75 against him and perhaps he'll sit up and take notice. He'll be required to go to court with you, but you can always settle outside of court man to scum, er... man. But, like Pop says, it is up to you to collect even if the judgement goes against him. I should know, I have been sued twice in small claims court... ...unsuccessfully. Davy

Noooo, it's extremely prevalent here too. Quite painful, actually. I mean, when you see a 1970 Chevelle on DUBs it actually hurts. Oh, and Terry: I'm glad I could put some useful education into your life Davy

Great photos, David K!!! Thanks for posting them. Davy

But what happens when he gets to court and the price says "gift??" The judge may ask why he's trying to get out of paying his fair share of reg fees. I'd hate to go to court knowing that. Also, if the car was salvage title, why didn't the title have that printed on it to begin with. The seller has to sign the title over in the first place. Does the bill of sale (he did make one, right?) state what the car is that he bought? Does it state, "clean title" or just "as is?" Davy

Car from the 1970's on DUBs or larger = "Donk" Car from the 1980's on DUBs or larger = "Box" (which is what was racing in the video--notice the angular lines of the car) Car from the 1990's or more recent on DUBs = "Bubble" Car with more extreme rounded lines, especially in back = "Bubble Butt" DUBs = 20" tall wheel. Which makes one wonder if 30" wheels are called "Donks." I think someone here should check out DONK, BOX & Bubble magazine at their local Kragen for the real answer This is my understanding of ghetto cool anyway. Perhaps one of our more cultured members can enlighten me if my understanding hath gone astray. I hope I got it right! Anyone know the year of the car in question? Davy

Lookin' good! The fact that you brought it to the point of an actual running engine means you're nearly there for a completely drivable car You should be proud at this point and looking forward to melting some rubber on the tarmac. Mmmm, the smell of tire smoke in the morning Also, I can't tell if your notch has been welded shut or not. You might want to consider that if you have not done so already... Davy

Question about wheel sizing
DavyZ replied to G.I.jonas's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The great thing is that the Mustang logo can be painted over or replaced with a Datsun logo. The wheels come in chrome, powdercoated black, silver, or white. They are a bargain and are staggered too. The only other wheels I would consider would be Sportmax wheels with this same staggered size. Davy -

What everyone said--they look great on the car, even better than the minilites. I like the 16" x 8" size since they go perfectly with the car. These are a bit wider than your old ones, so hopefully the car will handle a bit better to boot. Davy

Simply stunning interior, Jackhammer. That is one of the best I have seen to date. My gosh, everything actually matches... Davy

Now that's a useful piece of information. Very handy, thank you! Davy

Question about wheel sizing

Also, as far as buying custom sized spacers, I know Modern-Motorsports can make them in any thickness or lug pattern. I have considered going this route too. Davy -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-9-10-White-Mustang-Cobra-R-Wheels-rims-DEEP-DISH_W0QQitemZ290099337614QQcategoryZ43957QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I think a conversion to 5 lug would provide good Mustang wheels like this for CHEAP and still fillout the wheel wells. Even if you had to spring money for spacers, you are money ahead this way. My opinion. You can even buy spacers after you buy the rims and test fit them. Davy -
Oh, I have the tracking number and everything, including the all the shipping information from when it left the seller. It says that the package was dropped off at my house last Friday, which is not true. I could try Paypal, but I really do think the seller shipped everything. Davy

Ah, Micronauts! I culdn't remember their name, so I didn't include it in my list, but those were cool and I had plenty, but no Barron Karza Davy

Ah, remember what I said about "getting it treated very very soon?" You'll be wiser next time Davy

Nice to see your car up close and personal. It's a very clean looking car and my wife likes it even more than I do (I prefer flares). I'm impressed by the overall spartan, simple, clean look of the exterior and interior. Nice HybridZ. The beginning driving had a bunch of noise which is what? Gravel? Davy
