  1. I have some Sanderson block headers I bought from Z-fan years ago, and they look incredibly well made. No complaints here. Also, anything I bought from JTR has been top notch. Davy
  2. Congrats, Bill! Glad everything went well and was uneventful for the most part during break-in. The last thing you want is a fireball coming from the intake out of the carb--it been done Let us know how much you like your car when all is said and done. My guess is that it will befaster than the '69 Camaro, although not as collectable... Davy
  3. Phil, the sell (rent?) tools for that kind of thing. I think it was the Tire Rack that had a special roller you could rent out...not sure if it is NLA. There are goo threads regarding this: guys have done it by rolling, tapping, and cutting the fender (don't do last one...) Davy
  4. Hmmm, I'm trying to visualize what you are describing and it's not easy. If the trurbo is on the passenger side and you need more room, consider removing the battery tray/supports to gain more room. The turbo will sit on top of an inverted exhaust manifold, correct?? Davy
  5. It'll be very striking then and have a little color coming out from under the car...kinda like candy. Should be "sweet." (Pun intended) Nice work. Davy
  6. The powdercoated parts came along great! I think you got an excellent price for the work done. Looks sweet! Keep the great pics & progress coming What color will the car be? Did I miss that on one of the pages? Cripes. Davy
  7. Jamar, what exactly "does not fit." Most turbo installations are custom and have to be "fit" as they are installed. Give us more details and maybe someone can offer suggestions to help you. You are going to run a single turbo, which is, by definition, easier to install than a twin turbo system that both Hanns and Silicone boy are running. Details, man. Davy
  8. Why, Cygnusx1, it must have just been a slight oversight on their part... Also, it would have actually required thinking and consideration on their part. Davy
  9. The Wilson manifolds are purpose built, which I like and I've seen them on ebay for about $100. Not bad, but if I can get away with somthing significantly cheaper, I will. I'm cheap, baby. I may end up having my friend weld up an elbow for me that uses a Mustang throttle body as well. The photo you show of the complete manifold is exactly what I want to do with a Vic Jr. I have the Vic Jr all ready to go thanks to rytherwr, and I think I do most everything else for not much money, hence the Mustang throttle body. Thanks for posting. Davy
  10. The HybridZ members are truly a strong bunch! Good answers, fellows! Heh, and look at Normy lie Davy
  11. Tim, few of the members run the MSA kit. I think member "Miles" is one of them. Search for his name and then PM or email him. He might be able to help. Most of us run JTR or Scarab for a small block Chevy and JCI or custom mounts for the LSx engines. Davy
  12. I probably should have posted this HERE instead of the Chevy forum, but a lot of the Chevy guys know Fords too (I want to believe it anyway). If you know the answer to my question in the link, please post a response. I'm thinking the answer is, "NO." http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119731 Thanks, Davy
  13. OK, in building up my own EFI for a SBC, I am already quite into it and have been doing it on budget (don't tell me I should go LS1/LS2 LOL), so I just wanted to throw this question out there to find out the possibility of using a Ford Explorer manifold elbow vs a dedicated manifold elbow to mount the throttle body. The third option would be to have a friend fabricate one, but if I can get the Furd unit cheap enough, why bother? My real question is about the bolt pattern for the Ford unit--is it the standard carb intake bolt pattern?? Upper is Ford, lower is "standard carb" to TB. OK, so I'm cheap. Davy
  14. Please do. I'd love to hear if you see ANY increase in power. I remember a member here sold me a 3" mandrel bent exhaust system because he was going to a 3.5" for more power. Granted that his V8 was NA and it put out maybe 450 hp, but he saw NO increase in power or better 1/4 mile times at all, and this was with a single pipe system. I think he reached the point of diminishing marginal returns with respect to pipe size. The TB is probably the same. We'll see. Davy
  15. Well, you sure gave me something to think about. It really wasn't a question I could answer myself, even after reading Maximum Boost. I also owned a Q45 like yours, so perhaps, it's just sentimental Or is it that "bigger" is "better?" EDIT: You know, Scottie GNZ taught me something about airflow and I should mentally be following his advice. You give up velocity when you go larger diameter and in a turbocharged car's case, bigger isn't always better. Thanks for your point of view! Davy
  16. Aluminum block 427 SBC. That, or a large ball bearing turbo. Davy
  17. Good. What city are you in? Wensleydale is a cheese... Davy
  18. Slap him for even thinking of charging that price and then do it yourself. $700 for what? Manifolds and tubing that you'll have to cut up anyway? That's crazy! Sounds like a plan. Turbo will be small for huge power, but it isn't a bad start and hopefully won't be too pricey either. Single 3" or 3.5" will be fine. I have a 3" system all set to go. Don't wrap everything inn heat shield wrap. If you want, use heat shielding on the chassis & a heat shield on the turbo. Let him keep the diesel turbo--stay away from the diesel turbos from what I hear talking to turbo guys. Davy
  19. Yup, I definitely felt that one. I was at the computer and felt the jolt, then some gentle rolling for 2 seconds. They make me uneasy, frankly. I just wait to see if they'll continue and get bigger---I remember 1989!! Lafayette is about 40 miles from me. Davy
  20. J&J Are you seriously thinking of putting your car up for a pinks race??? Is it really worth it? Racing for cash is one thing, but a car is another... Davy
  21. I could be made to work with a TPI, but better on a TBI because it's more like a carb. You'll need better injectors, a decent EFI fuel pump, and a good engine management system. Davy
  22. Luigi, If this is the one with the fiberglass "bumper" molded as part of the piece, you remove the original bumper completely and then mount the airdam... Davy
  23. Pretty darn good price--I agree. Around here that would be on the cheap side for sure. No wonder you do some good business Davy
  24. True!! But you still get some work done on your car AND, like you said, it's cheaper than a GF!! Davy
