  1. I did 2 write ups to described how the turn signals work on both the Z and the ZX and they are in the FAQ. I mentioned the culprit are mostly the black connectors on the passenger side transmission tunnel. The power goes thru those connectors and over time caused corrosions. That is the first place you should check and clean. GL V.
  2. More good info here: http://www.fiberlay.com/howto/issue1.htm
  3. Hmm.. Did I meet both of you? Dan and Pete? I was there but don't remember taken pictures with you 2.
  4. Ok I did it. Here are a couple of pictures. The only thing I didn't hook up was the vacuum line from the air duct to the FPR. I don't think it hurts anything without this line hook up.
  5. How much did you get your drive shaft shortened and balanced? I bet you it's your drive shaft.
  6. JCI mount engine placement: From the left frame rail to the center of the crank pulley bolt = 13" From the right frame rail to the center of the crank pulley bolt = 12 1/4" The center of the crank pulley bolt is 1/2 " below the frame rails. I didn't have a chance to measure the drive shaft relative to the various points of the body and frame. Will do it next time when I have the car on the lift. Vinh

    Oval tubing?

Something to think about oval tubing: how do you plan to bend the oval tubing? You can't just buy a bunch of u bend oval tubings and cut up to make your exhaust. It won't work as easy as the round tubes.

    Oval tubing?

I have 3" exhaust on my 280zxt. Coming out of the turbo is 2 1/2". But it flares out to 3" and then all the to the back of the car. You should not worry about exhaust clearance on 280ZX because the transmission tunnel is bigger than the earlier Zs. The exhaust runs over the rear crossmember. Not like the earlier Z. You don't need oval pipes for the ZX. Do a search for Jeff P's down pipe.
  9. David, I didn't get any interest on the kit. I guess they already know it won't be cheap to build this kit. I want to build a VR for myself after this cobra is completed.
  10. I am using stock 280ZXT fuel pump on both of my Ls1 swaps without any problem. I am using the C5 fuel filter/regulator just like Savage. Don't need to spend extra money for the adjustable regulator. Talking about clean and less stuffs have you think about flipping the fuel rail so that you can run the fuel feed line to the rail from the passenger side? I am going to try to do this on my Ls1 swap Z this weekend. Will let you know if I run into any problem.
  11. I've been to that fiberglass site many times. Notice their videos are not for free. The other site's videos covered all the basic steps which is what I needed. The rest is just depends on your learning skills and imagination. I am ready to build my mold as soon as I get the plug completed. V.
  12. Sorry I couldn't make it guys. I had a big hang over from drinking the night before. Hope to make it to the next shin dig at MKelly's house. Whenver that is lol.
  13. Clive, I need a helping hand every day lol. I still got a couple more 240Z to restore beside my cobra. Let me know when you can return the favor. BTW I saw that lady last night but couldn't get her number. Maybe next time. David, I am glad to meet you and a few other HBZ members in Daytona too. Shortyz, I love the way these side pipes sound. They are not that loud at idle at all but when you step on it.. it really roar to life and scare the crap out of the guy in the next car lol.
  14. I am in the process of doing the same thing on my kit. You gotta check out the videos link. The videos save you a lot of readings. Check out all the videos they have on that link. GL. Vinh
  15. I just found some good info and I want to share with everyone. The videos are exellent. Have fun. http://www.fgci.com/howto/ht004hand_lay_up.html http://www.fgci.com/howto/ht003fiberglass_mold.html http://www.freemansupply.com/video.htm http://www.jgreer.com/Foam%20Page.htm
  16. The original drive line is offset to the passenger side by 3/4" relative to the center line of the 2 frame rails. On my LS1 swap where I made my own mounts that's where I put the motor. However I also install JCI mounts on my friend's LS1 swap and I didn't bother to measure where the motor sit. I can check the measurement and get back with you later on. I did 120MPH plus on my friend's LS1 Z with JCI mounts and there was no vibration at all. So I think the driveline has to be very close to the original driveline.
  17. Pete, I bought the kit a long time ago. Nav, Yes I notice the check engine light. It's DTC P1637. This has something to do with the alternator. The PCM thinks the alternator is not charging when the idle is low. I will program to disable this DTC tomorrow. Bill, The blue one just painted is my friends'. This one is mine. Mine has C5 instrument cluster that you see in the video. It has the 98 C5 LS1 engine with drive by wire throttle. I can't wait to get started on the body kit modifications. I hope to finish modifying the body kit in a few months and then I can begin disassemblying the car to restore the frame.
  18. I got a pair that I took off my recent crashed 81 280ZXT. I am selling them. Shoot me an email if you are still interest. Vinh. anh3pa@hotmail.com PS. mine are yellow
  19. I finally got some work done to my LS1 Z. Just finished up the AZC coil over suspensions with weld in camber plates. Got the wheels on the car so I can lower the car to where I want it. Now I can start working on modifying the body kit. Here is a short video of the car lowered. I also disable the torque management in the PCM so doing burn out is pretty easy now lol. Not sure you can see the rear wheels clearly or not but they are 315s in the back. Turn up the volume and have fun. V.
  20. I am still open for Sunday. Hopefully I get some work done on the house on Saturday so the wife will let me go. Give me the contact info and time and place. If I can make it I will leave early to meet up with you guys. Vinh
  21. Joe/240ztt, Thanks for the offer on a place to stay. I have no plan to stay over night but if I do I might take your offer. This weekend suppose to be a beautiful weekend. I am waiting for the drive shaft to come back to finish up my friend's Cobra. We dropped it on the way back from Daytona and it got off balanced. Otherwise I will take my topless Z. I want to meet Mike Kelly too. So can we get more people to come out and hang out? Vinh
  22. That's Jon's Z. He is Metallicar on here. He lives in Moorestown now. Give me a call if you come to South Philly. I will send you my number in the PM.
  23. Clive, You gotta stop coming down to PA to buy all the Zs. Do you know if you don't buy them they will find their way to my garage? lol. I got guys bring their Zs to my garage for work but eventually they just gave me their Zs for free or sell them cheap. Rturbo_930, I am in south Philly. I work in Moorestown which is not too far from you.
  24. If there are more people coming out I will bring my friend's Cobra down. If not I will just stay home to work on my Cobra instead. Is there a 1/4 mile track in that area we can go to? I like to run this LS1 Cobra and try to get into the 12s. Vinh
