  1. Dave, I will be there. I have a time share condo in Daytona as well. Vinh
  2. PeteP, Look like there will be 2 Cobra Daytonas at this convention. We might be going along with you. I kinda like your plan. Clive, I like to use this trip to visit a few friends down South. So I like to take time driving down. My plan is to leave Saturday afternoon and stop by Richmond area to visit a few friends. I might spend a night there and then Sunday drive down along with Pete and Glen. I will talk to you more during the week. The Cobra is ready to come out. The brake issues are fixed. Interior works is almost done. Vinh PS. My wife reserved a timeshare condo also.
  3. Thanks guys but I don't want to pay for the whole shift kit. I just found a source from Ebay and they sell just the short stick for cheap. Now I just need to get the boot.
  4. Guys, I am looking for a replacement shift stick for the T56. I am also looking for the shift boot to fit into a 280Z hole with the T56 tranny. I am not using the center console. I am using JCI engine mount kits BTW. Some pictures of someone's Z with the shift stick and boot would be nice. I am finishing up my friend's Cobra Z with the LS1 and hope to take it to the convention. Thanks for any help. BTW here are some pictures of the car.
  5. Thank you Phil and every one again. According to the police officer that my wife talked to both people in the front seats were knocked unconscious. So they have to cut the car up to get them out. I think they rip the fender out so they can stick the Jaw of Live between the door. You can see half the door hinges on the car still. I got the car in my other garage now and still don't have time to take a look at it yet. I will check it out tomorrow and take more pictures. Thanks again guys and please don't fall asleep on the wheel like my brother did. Especially the people planned to drive to the convention in a few weeks. Keep plenty of food and drink in the car to atleast keep you busy so you won't fall asleep. Hope to see everyone at the convention.. Vinh
  6. Some updates: My brother has broken ribs. His older daughter has broken right arm and some head injuries. His younger daughter got some bruise spine. They are all home and resting. I talked to the insurance and they will allow me to take the car for $650. So it is coming home as I type. My wife called a tow truck to bring it back to my garage. The motor should be good so if anyone needs it let me know. I thought the wheels would survive the crash but I noticed the right rear wheel had a dent. This car has an uncrack dash and I am not sure it survive or not. The carpets and interior of this car are all in excellent shape. All the suspension and brakes should still be good. Thanks everyone for your reponses and prayers. My brother has been helping a lot with all the custom stuffs on all the Zs so he is very close to me. BTW I still have 3 more Z cars to work on. Take care all. Vinh
  7. Sorry about the link. I've just fixed it. You can see pictures of the car now. Yes thanks god everyone survived with just broken bones here and there. Thank you all for the kind words.
  8. It was a bad weekend. My brother fell asleep at the wheel and crashed my Z. Thanks god everyone survived and will recover 100%. So long BruceZee. The Z has been with me for exactly 10 years. I thought I can negotiate with the insurance company to get the car back to salvage some good parts. But from the pictures it looks pretty bad. So I am not going to bother bringing it home. I also want to remind everyone about what you should do if you feel sleepy at the wheel. Just pull over and take 5 or 10 minutes break and it will save your live. I want to wait until my brother and his kids to come home before I post this. So they are home now. Thanks god. Click on the link to see pictures http://www.cardomain.com/ride/721840/3
  9. I don't think I can make it to this one. My friend and I are working hard on his Cobra Z. We are hoping to bring it to the convention. If we can't take the Cobra I will take the topless Z. Either way I am hoping to meet up with some of you in Philly and then we all can drive down to VA to meet other folks there.
  10. The pump doesn't stay on when you turn the key on. If you hard wired the pump and the pump runs but the car doesn't start obviously it's not the pump. Go back 3 posts and look at Xenon's post if you don't want to waste time. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge to connect to the fuel line after the fuel filter than you can just disconnect that supply fuel line and stick it into a bottle. Hardwire the fuel pump to see you get a strong flow of fuel coming out. If you do then try it by turning the key to ON. When you turn the key to ON it primes the fuel pump and you should get a steady stream of fuel coming out. If you don't get steady fuel flow in either case then check the inside of your fuel tank. I bet ya it got a crab load of rusts in there. GL
  11. The ZXs have wider body then the earlier Zcars. With the wide body on the ZX you can put pretty wide rims/tires in the back. It is just a matter of finding the rims with the right offset. Otherwise you will have to settle for the adaptors. There is no body can help you in your case unless you bring your car to a rim making company so they can measure the back spacing and the width of the rim to fill your fenders. One other thing I don't understand is there is no one makes rims in size of 9.5" width. The rims come in 8", 9" 10" etc. However and 8" rims actually measured wider than 8" because of the outter lips of the rims. So my suggestion to you is to go to discount tires direct and understand the rim sizes, off sets and back spacing etc. Then do your own measurements on your car and then talk to the tires company and see what they suggest and then go from there. GL
  12. There is no relays for the power windows. The window motors work directly from the switches. Each switch has double poles inside. When you push up on the swith one pole will connect 12V and the other to ground. When you push down the opposite poles will get 12V and ground. I am pretty sure your switch is the cause. You can open it up to check if the contacts are broken into pieces. If they are not then a good clean job will fix the problem. If not you can shoot me an email. I got several of these switches laying around somewhere. GL
  13. This is not my car BTW and yes I do paint but I don't have a paint booth. I have a home made paint boot in my garage there but my dear friend used it to sand blasting his Z. So I will have to do some serious cleanning before I paint again. We paid 5K for the paint job and we are not happy with it. So I will definitely be paint my own car next time. Phil, Thanks for the compliments. When are you planning to come down to get the doors? I think Clive is coming down to my garage in a couple weeks. Talk to him if you want him to bring the doors back.
  14. Steeltoad, The car is coming along real nice. I've been doing a lot of reading on how to make molds and this is how I understand it. For making the mold you have to finished the part and paint it. Buff it nice and smooth and add a lot of wax on it and then start your mold making by spraying a few layers of gel coats right over your part and then add fiberglass on top of the gel coat. Wait until it harden then pop the mold off. GL
  15. How about remove the alternator belt and maybe the alternator?
  16. Alright we're finally got the Cobra back from the paint shop. We are not happy with the paint at all but it is OK for now. We will be working hard to put everything back onto the car and hope to take it to the convention. Here are a few pictures. Sorry for the bad quality pictures. Enjoy.
  17. The wide fenders look good. The big problem I see is what do you plan to do with the back to make it look complete with that wide body? I know you don't want to hear this but you will have to cut the bottom of the 1/4 fenders off. You can cut the outter skin and then fold the inner skin over the outter one and weld it shut. After installing the wider fender you will need to completely seal the gap between the old fender to the newer one to prevent rusts. GL.
  18. I just got back from Japan and I got the Arita Speed air dam with me. My friend found the other air dam also but I can bring only one home. Hopefully I will have another chance to travel to Japan for business so I can get the air dam. Of course I had to cut it in half to bring it on the plane. I will post pictures when I have this thing on my spyderZX.
  19. Clive, Congratulation. Don't forget to insulate the wiring harness on the passenger side. Otherwise the exhaust heat will melt it. Other than that your engine compartment should look really clean. Everything looks good. BTW I am back from Japan and I brought back with me the Arita Speed front air dam.
  20. #1 GTO engine of any year won't go for $800. It's more like 5k to 8k #2 Your biggest concern is the driver side header. You will have to fab your own header on the driver side because there is not much room there. The other option is to put in a universal joint in the steering rod and pivot it onto the frame rail. This way it will give you more room so you can use the JTR header. #3 The ZXs engine bay is a bit shorter then the Z's engine bay. Therefore you will have a little less room between the water pump and the radiator. So running the intake duct could be a little more challenging. GL Vinh
  21. If you are going thru the trouble I suggest you to put in the C5 cluster. You can use the C5 cluster to read DTCs off the PCM. It is very useful for trouble shooting engine problems. I don't know whether the Fbody cluster gives you this option. GL. V. BTW I have the C5 cluster in my LS1 Z also.
  22. This is normal. You had just verified that your crank angle sensor still working.
  23. Try put it in park and try it again. I am assuming you're still got the stock auto trans. Sometimes the neutral switch in the trans won't engage properly which it will not allow you to crank the car. GL.
  24. Don't forget to attach a piece of rope at the end as you pull it out. That way you can use it to pull the wires back in later on when the install begin. Does that make sense? GL V.
  25. It was nice to meet you all too. I appologize for showing up late with Clive. I had to finish wiring up his car and make sure everything was OK before we leave. I am looking forward to the next meeting so I can get to know more about everyone. Dave, You took some good pictures. Thank you for posting them. Next time I will bring my wife up so the ladies can hang out. V.
