I kinda thought the same thing when I saw the dual holleys. 1100hp and about the same torque is pretty sweet though. It just looks like they had a lot of money and a jegs catalog (doesn't look factory).

Ok, you've sold me on the theory behind it assuming you want to run a LOT of boost. Disengaging the supercharger is what was holding me up. I thought you were going to leave it going. What would happen if you were to run a centrifugal supercharger and Y the turbos in with it? I would think the boost might be easier to control just with a wastegate and that way you wouldn't have to worry about the spike in boost when the turbos and the s/c are both going. If the pressure of the supercharger wont allow the turbos to spool as normal I guess you could put some sort of check valve on it. Just an idea. Do you plan on running an intercooler? Please post links of progrees too (just in a seperate thread so we're not crashing this one anymore than we/I already have:icon11: ). -

Sorry if the conversatio has moved on but what benefit do you have with both? If you don't want turbo lag then put a supercharger on it period. In my mind turbos are more efficient because they have less parasitic loss so that's why I say get rid of the s/c. I just don't see the benefit of both. If you had either one setup optimally it should be better or at best the same. How much boost do you want to run? Grumpy, you think a nitrous system is superior to forced induction? Could you elaborate? -
They sold this on ebay about a year ago. I would drive it.

Please don't take the following the wrong way: I was simply stating an observation/opinion. Routing the piping for a turbo setup would be the easy part the way I see it. I own a copy of Maximum Boost. And, you may as well leave the s/c out of the equation because it's not going to do anything other than get in the way of the twin turbos. If for some reason unknown to the better part of us your setup does benefit you more than just the twin turbos would, please ignore my ignorance and share your insight with us. -
Get actual start bolts for the starter if you replace them. They have a shoulder on them to hold the starter in place. If you buy some at a hardware store you will have problems with the starter moving on you. Trust me.

I just wish Chevy would s/c or turbo a V8. I guess only in my imaginary perfect world. Sure they talk about Blue Devil and new Stingray but where are they. Even then they talked about the Blue Devil having 600hp which is nothing to sneeze at but the way they're going they'll be doing that by the end of next year with an N/A LSx engine... I can't believe noone sells a decent set (at a reasonable price) of turbo headers for the original sbc sure there are a lot of different applications so make several different sets of headers. Surely there would be a huge market for them. Say $300-$400 a pop and I would have bought a pair years ago. And Ford's s/c V8 is the best thing they've ever done IMO. I don't care for Mustangs, but I would love to play with a newer Cobra. -

I suppose this is something of a heads up in general huh Doc? Otherwise it would be in the Chevy V8 board. It is definitely promising. -
Cool! Wish I could find a turbo motor around here for $250. I would be a happy man.

Anybody have any _________ dreams they want to share?
280zwitha383 replied to 280zwitha383's topic in Non Tech Board
Ah, I remeber now. I don't know how interesting this will be but it is pretty funny. For some reason I'm walking in the middle of this ghost town. There isn't a person or car in sight. So while I'm walking in the middle of some houses I get this really bad urge to scratch my butt. Like when you're sweaty and you feel like you've got some tp stuck in the hairs. Yeah you know what I'm talking about. Anyway I dig right in and as soon as I do out of nowhere this lady pops out of her window and says, "if you'd take a bath more often you wouldn't have that problem." -

:nono: Man this morning before I went to work I remembered a really interesting dream but now I can't think of it. -

That one obviously means you're rotten on the inside... j/k although you are obviously slightly twisted to make models of all of this stuff Some people think that dreaming about losing teeth means you're changing stuff in your life and growing up (kind of like an adolescent loses teeth). On the other hand I have also heard that it's because you're grinding your teeth in your sleep. -

That's funny that you say that because I've had a few dreams kinda like that. Usually I'm in a parking lot trying to fight this guy because he's trying to stab me or something like that. I KEEP hitting and hitting and it just doesn't phase him. It's like they hurt him but never enough to knock him down or stop him so I just keep hitting. -
That looks like a blast. Not as high speed as they went though, maybe half. Well they did hand a PURSE out of the back door so that probably explains it. I wonder if the transmission was slipping or something funky like that.

I worked for a certain very large ice cream company for two weeks and I HATED my life. It was a 4am-6pm kinda job and I'm FAR from a morning person. Anyway, I kept dreaming I was stocking 1/2 gallons of ice cream but couldn't figure out where they went, eventually I would figure it out but there were so many more that I had to do. While I have dreams like this I'm always tossing around a lot in the bed and I'm relieved when I wake up. I have had one or two dreams like this where I work now but it was when I first started and they stuck me machining by myself. The previous machinist had a guy that would machine extra stuff that they needed at night but I didn't get that luxury and I had only been machining for a month! Anyway, that particular dream definitely means that you feel overwhelmed(/hate your life). -
I would think if cast were a viable option with the steel crank they would make a pushrod like that. If someone does please point me there. Regardless, what you are saying is very doable. What I would do is simply press the tip into the rod. I think what you're saying is to simply place the tip in and let the cam and pump hold the thing together which should work but the idea just doesn't sit well with me and it would be just as easy to make the nipple .252" for example and press it in. I guess I could go to the scrap yard and try to buy a small piece of bronze.
-
Haha, well I am a machinist (of sorts) and I would never dream about trying to machine down the pushrod and attach (somehow) a different tip to it. However, now that you mention it, I suppose if I had a piece of bronze I could take say .050" off of the pushrod and braze(?) the bronze tip onto it. If I could get my hands on a little piece of bronze it would be interesting to say the least. It would probably be like one of those projects that the "engineers" or customer service guys want me to do that is so iffy that I giggle half the time I'm making it.... I would think I would have to spend a significan amount of time polishing the end of the bronze unless I got a piece that had a usable end on it. Hmmm.
-
I was replacing my fuel pump and noticed the end of the pushrod was VERY worn. Like halfway to rounded off worn. Comp sells several different pushrods, I like the one with the roller tip but not for $113. I'm wondering if I didn't mess up my cam because Comp says "don't damage your expensive roller cam". I don't see how a harder cam can be damaged by a softer pushrod. I've been running this thing for close to 2 years, pretty hard and probably close to 6k thousand miles I'm sure. I guess I'll just buy the cheap pushrod and see how it runs. I hate buying bronze stuff that's just going to wear out but $113 for a pushrod is just stupid. Worse comes to worse I'll buy an electric pump. Anyone done this before? If I put the bronze tipped pushrod on it will the possibly scuffed up cam just wear it out that much faster? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly. I really thought there were more cars with exhaust like that. I haven't taken the car to an inspector but the one I did talk to said it was a no go and needs to exit atleast close to the rear tire. If everyone tells me that I might get the mercedes dealership to write me up something and show it to the inspector(s). If that doesn't work I will just buy some flex pipe and run a straight pipe for some homemade side-pipes (and I might even keep them). One guy on here showed me some pictures of his and it doesn't look too bad (painted).

Update Sanderson(JTR) Header and JCI Mount
280zwitha383 replied to Dudeboy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Wow, I was so preoccupied with the header I didn't hardly look at the engine. I was wondering why the mount was right there but I just figured it was just a different/JCI mount. Silly me.
