Good for you for getting interested at an early age, and eager to do some research.

In addition to BaT, I would add https://www.classiczcars.com/ and FB (Marketplace, as well as the multiple S30 enthusiast pages on FB).  Occasionally, even websites like Craigslist and Offerup can yield hidden gems.

Don't limit your search....these old cars are getting harder and harder to find (and the prices are going up), so you'll want to cast your net as wide as possible.

Hope this helps.

Bringatrailer will be the best site to spend the most money possible for a S30.

Craigslist and Offerup can get you some really good deals sometimes, but you'll have to be dealing with individual people who sometimes are "overly knowlegable"...even when they aren't. Sometimes you also get people who really don't know what they have and you can get a sweet deal. Just get ready to deal with rust repair.

For some of the honestly best deals, from people who actually really love these cars, this site, and classiczcars has a "for sale" section, and with that you'll get more information about the car than you will anywhere else. Cars don't come up as often, but you can have a no bullshit conversation with the owner.

Good luck with your search. Now is a great time to learn all of the quirks of these cars, and to realize that unless your budget is very healthy, you will have rust, and you'll need to repair that.

As someone who bought an s30 at 16, the advise I would give would be to buy the nicest car you can afford.  Many things will get in your way over the next few years, so smaller projects will let you drive and enjoy the car.

It is good to see a new generation interested in classic cars.  I hope you find the car you want & get to enjoy it.

Ahh, that is the question people have been trying to answer for a very long time, good luck on quest to find the answer.

You might want to join a local Z car club, there will be many guys there that will be willing help you in lots of ways.

Just as an example of what is available on offer-up, a guy posted a clean rb25det swapped 72’ two weeks ago here in the LA area. I msgd him (this was before I arranged for the return of my 71’ L28et swapped car). It had coilovers, upgraded brakes, etc. It was posted for $16k. He told me a guy messaged him within 10 minutes and offered him full price. I was intrigued.

the price and popularity at this time is increasing quickly (I don’t know if it’s temporary because of the 400z intro).

The price and popularity of S30's has been going up for a while now, well before the 400z was even officially announced that they were going to make it.

With more and more cars becoming numb, fat, and auto-only, there is going to be a shift back into older cars that aren't necessarily as fast, but are perceived as "more engaging".

Add in that the S30 is beautiful, and is becoming more and more rare due to many of them having been fully rusted away or crashed into trees, and the price goes up.

Until the price of gasoline becomes absurd (i.e. 20 dollars a gallon or more), I don't see the prices of these going down any time soon/ever.

The people on Bringatrailer with too much money have definitely shot the price up faster than anyone could have ever imagined.

Yep wow, I might not be able to get my Z or I have to wait a couple of years for it to go down but then the Zs might have more rust than ever or even a rusty condition Z might be 10k

I've had a dozen old Z's, and have never been willing to shell out the big bucks for a nice clean driveable car.  They've all been crappy rust buckets, and I spend a couple years restoring/rebuilding them.  Your best bet now is to do as much research as possible so you know what you're getting into before spending your hard-earned cash.

Yea the Z prices are rising so quickly I don't know if Im gonna be able to buy one, I just have to find a way to get a lot of money and think what to buy. Theres a Z on ebay motors that costs $14k exterior is really fresh and interior is clean, just the whole car is like new

Are your Zs just rolling cars or do they start and drive?

No, I only have one Z at the moment.  The point I was trying to make is that I've owned several over the years; but I've never been willing to spend a big chunk of money on a nice one...opting instead to buy junkers and restore them myself.  It's a satisfying process to build your own car,  exactly the way you want it, vs buying something already pre-built.
