internet at work

Seems like a lot of you get on the internet at work. I am working at my family's business now and being on the internet while at work is not a problem. About a year ago I was managing a medical clinic and I got on the internet a little bit for personal things there but was apprehensive about doing it too much.

It is nice to be part of a board that is so active but I wonder sometimes how many here could get busted for being on the internet while at work???

Just curious.

Me: "Hey, me!!! Stop screwing around on the internet!"

Me: "Screw me. I can't tell me what to do."

Me: "Remember me, I'm the boss."

Me: "Am I threatening me?"

Me: "Damn straight. Now get off the internet and do some work...NOW!"

Me: "This is BS. I quit."

Me: "Please don't quit. I know this business wouldn't function without me."

Me: "Fine. I'll stay, but hybridz is a condition of my continued employment with me."

Me: "Agreed."

Me: "Now get the hell out of my office."

Me: "Whose office???"

Me: "Fine. I win. It's my office."

Ah, the joys of being the boss and the only employee. Sometimes you gotta argue with yourself just to keep you in line...

I probably should be more worried about it than I am. I am an engineer and work flex time so technically I can make up the time with longer hours. Our plant has something like 9000 employees and almost everyone has internet access. So as long as the HybridZ access time doesn't approach the levels of a fantasy football or ESPN site, then I probably won't show up on any big managers spread sheet.

:( Internet access is highly regulated in my company--try to get on a site and if you are successful...that will be the only time you'll ever see it again! Yes, Internet freedom was ruined by the perverts in the company accessing sites they shouldn't have

I got hammered for internet usage at work

made the top 100 list for a company of 3000

no bad sites just bandwidth I have (had) several

BB s like Hybrids, Zcar, Glocktalk, and several fish forums that would auto reply to my hotmail account so I would have 2-3 browsers running at the same time.

but the Tour De France is what nailed me, streaming audio and updating

from OLN and anouther bike site sent up the balloon.

got a verbal warning and a letter in the file

I got busted.

I had a small portable office and a Pentium ll for some semi retirement, off site shunt work at a chemical plant. I found a good woman on web personals (lava life) and a fantastic house for us to move into, all over a period of a few years.

First they took the computer.

Six months later they cut the network line so my laptop wouldn’t work on it.

Then the phone line so the modem wouldn’t work.

I lost all electric power. NO HEAT!

They canceled my company cell phone.

The company credit cards began to bounce.

Then the pay checks stopped.

Some people just can’t take a hint.

Well I work with the Communications and Network engineering group for an agency in the government... I'm ok so long as it doesn't interfere with my work and as long as I don't do any monetary transactions through my work computer or surf porn at work.

I actually think I'd be more productive without the internet at work, but I wouldn't dream of mentioning it to my boss!
