mark
I just got a call from the "fraud unit at visa" The guy was fishing for data. I caught on real quick he was not for real and did not give him any info. Short story is I have his phone number and I have been calling him and leaving messages on his cell. If you would like to join in Please call 646-388-4715. Also feel free to spread the word on other boards you frequent. Mark
Mikelly
Roger... Already spreading the word... Bastards... My wife is the head of the Credit Card department for a small Credit union and I can't tell you the stories she relays to me, but this is a GROWING and serious problem... Tim240z
Some really good info and tips and list of the latest scam here: http://www.idtheftcenter.com/index.shtml
JMortensen
It's really easy. If they are Visa or MasterCard, they already know your account number. But Visa and MasterCard don't verify charges to my knowledge. On classiczcar.com this came up and a bunch of people were saying "I'd just tell that f#cker to f#ck off!!!" and stuff like that, but it is pretty common for your BANK to call and verify charges, so don't go ballistic on anyone who calls, only the ones who have to ask for your info. Or better yet tell them you'll call them back at the number on the back of your card.

Or better yet tell them you'll call them back at the number on the back of your card. I've had my card companies call me before to verify large purchases I have made. When I started asking him for his info he got very pushy and said fine I could pay the charges. Then I said let me call you back and he hung up. Caller ID is great, I'm having fun "bothering" him. I'm looking foward to 3am when I can call him some more. Mark
Owen
Forget calling him at 3AM, set you computer to dial it for you. I don't have dial up anymore but I remember in older Windows, you could set it up to dial at specific times and to retry a number of times. A fax machine could probably do the same. mark
I don't think he has caller ID on his phone because I have called numerous times and he is clueless. Mark

CruxGNZ
I tried a reverse lookup and only got this information: "The phone number "(646) 388-4715" is a New York, NY based phone number and the registered carrier is Cingular Wireless Llc - Ny. However, due to number portability, some numbers have been transferred to a new service provider other than the registered carrier." !M! mark
Call the scum and have some fun. So far I have tried to sell him some natural male enhancement (his girl friend asked me to) told him some one was coming thru his window, and have asked over and over for Mary and Joe. Next on the list is aluminum siding and windows and cemetary plots. Those will be crack of dawn calls. Mark

randy 77zt
somebody should call him and tell him he won some free tickets.then tell him where to pick them up-in a dark alley .he could meet my aluminum baseball bat.when i used to repo cars we used to call people and ask them thier address so we could send them a coupon for a free pizza.that worked every time.people move but keep the same number.call his cell phone service and report his phone as stolen so it gets shut off. BillZ260
You guy's are awesome, it's too bad no one know's this guy so we could hear from the other end how misserable he is. How long do you think it will take for him to change his number. Also, Mark, have you thought of turning him in?
mark
What would I turn him in for? This is so common that I really don't think it would help. I spent 30 minutes on hold trying to talk to my credit card company and never got thru. If my credit card co. can't offer me any better service than that, what's the use. I may try again today if I have a free hour and pass the number on to them but it's a cell number so I doubt they would spend the $ to find him when he hasn't made any fradulent charges to my account. Let's just make him miserable. Mark
