S30TRBO
Hey all, I found a 10" solid shot cannonball in my back yard. This sucker is heavy!! My girlfriend's dad is USAF retired EOD, he came over and he didn't find a fuse or fuse block. I emailed a few "collectors" from this site and no dice. Should I stick it on Ebay or are there any collectors on the board? More pics: http://www.putfile.com/240ztt/images/158649
naviathan
I would find someone that could properly identify it for you. Try and get an idea of what time period and that will get you a better idea of what it's worth.
jt1
Build a big cannon and shoot it at something!!!!!!!! Try to find some military collectors and talk to them. Also research how it got in your yard. The more history associated with it the better. As cannonballs go, that's a whopper. jt
X64v
Shut off all the power to your house for the night and have a big civil war re-enactment battle in the morning... Oh yeah, and "...party like it's 1899."

Trevor
Maybe its a recent loss....Is there a High School or College with track&field near your house? http://www.everythingtrackandfield.com/detail.aspx_Q_ID_E_3038_A_CategoryID_E_322
capt_furious
If you're POSITIVE it's a cannonball, call this shop, ask for Wally. If he can't figure it out, then Ed(at the same shop) might. If you're looking to sell, they might be interested. Emailing the photos might be helpful. ....and COOL! (my first thought was to use it for destructive purposes, as well...) Z-TARD
Just for laughs, weld a padeye to the top of it and hook it up to the tetherball pole at the nearest school
Pete84
Nope. This sucker has to weigh over 120lbs easy though. Wow, that is a large round. Given the size and [guessing, looks like it is rusted] it being iron, I'd wager it is from the civil war. Any forts around there?
MOTORHEAD427
It's a second generation "round shot"...Earlier ones were made of stone. It might be from early 1800's or it might be a replica used for reenactments. Either way I don't think it would be worth much...Put it in your study or something... Pop N Wood
It is worth at least a quarter a pound at the scrap metal yard near college park. Maybe more. Been a while since I bought any scrap metal.
