slownrusty
Phil -It would be interesting to see if the car performs better, on other words did you pick up any hp by jumping to such a large diameter? Yasin
big-phil
Phil -It would be interesting to see if the car performs better, on other words did you pick up any hp by jumping to such a large diameter? Yasin Yes I did, but I want to drive it more to make sure its not just me wanting it to feel better.
EvilC
That looks great! Can't wait for the vids. Everyday I am getting closer n closer to doing the turbo swap in a 280z, just gotta kind a clean one first! lol, brown. Seriously though, does the car feel a bit slower or less responsive within the first 2000 rpms?
Evan Purple240zt
Phil, I wonder if you are feeling more HP or faster spool. Either way, cool. Evan BTW, who cares how much TQ you have at 2k when you have plenty up top!! I don't think it will hurt driveability at all.
Guest 280ZForce
Phil...Welcome to the 4" club finally. BUT...do it right man, do yourself a favor and ditch that holset elbow! Also, if that' a wideband o2, doesn't that need to go down stream more? like 2-3' from the turbo? the normal o2 goes about 6-8" from turbo but the wideband has to go further away. that thing weighs a ton and looks like ♥♥♥♥! make a full custom down pipe... like mine... slownrusty
Wow..that looks fantastic Justin! Whats the status on your car? Yasin

Thumper
WOW what BIG... piping you have there Phil. So the holset elbow goes 4" to 3.5" then you go back up to 4"? Also as someone already asked how is the ground clearance? LOOKS GREAT!
big-phil
Damn!! I'll have to go back and weld in the elbow off the turbo. I didn't no it went to 3 1/2". F**K!!!!! no big deal I just bought another bottle of gas for the welder so I'll get rid of the stock elbow. I'll move the wideband bung also. I have another bung, and plug. here is the video
OlderThanMe
That is Awesome Phil! I still think you'll see a big jump in HP if you go to a HX35/40 turbo that will have less exhaust restriction than your HY. Maybe on your next motor with your big cam... You are such an inspiration to us budget Z guys!
big-phil
You are such an inspiration to us budget Z guys! Its budget alright! Sometimes I think of selling because of what I think I could get for it, and what I know I have in it. p.s. the boost gauge is e-bay $35.
Titus_RacerX
The first 29 sec. of your latest vid kinda freaked me out man! Now your z kinda sounds like the UPS truck coming down the street... just kidding it sounds great. You also made me chuckle when you were tapping the tape measure on your pipes! Tinka-tinka-tinka! Then, it got ugly again and I just puked a little in my throat when I saw your old downpipe! Yeech! But Phil, I say... I want some "Tire Spinnin' Fun"!:burnout: Thanks again Big Phil for some great You Tube time!
steveosupremeo
sounds awesome! and plenty of ground clearance! thats more than i have with my 2.5 exhuast but it sits about an inch lower than i intended when having it welded.
MJLamberson
for a few minutes there I thought you were going to leave out your trademark, but yeah that does sound and look great.
