sq_creations
This is really exciting watch your car come together. I really like the new color, gonna miss the red though. I can wait to see some new video's of this thing at the track.
stony
yea me to. i wanted something more red with some orange in it but got the opposite. i still really like the color. for those of you planning on painting a car, go with colors that are already on car. don't pick from a color swatch in the paint store. i don't think they really represent what the final color will be. that spitfire orange was very close to the shade of red i had before with a little more orange. BUT it came out way more orange then the color sampled showed.

Tibby
Did you check the paint code to see what base color(if any) the color coat was to be sprayed over? If the purchased paint was intended to be a tri-coat and was applied without the corresponding base then it could explain why it doesn't match. It's possible it was intended to be sprayed over a red base and this is why orange came out to be the dominant color. OR the paint shop screwed up when they mixed your paint. I still think it looks killer no matter how it happened to get that way.
stony
Its a single stage base clear coat that was sprayed over a sealer. I Love the color either way Checked the fit of the wheels today. They will fit fine now with the extra 1.5 inches!!! Yea!!! Edited June 3, 2011 by stony
stony
Couple more pics from today BTW if you ever use POR15 be sure to use gloves…. Because that **** don’t come off your skin!!! Got both wheel wells welded up. Reinforced the rear section of the rear ¼ and did final fitting of the left side. tonyp280zxt
its really not that paint chips lie, you have to think about the fact your looking at a small chip compared to a whole car. Ask them for the chip and hold it up to the edge of the door as if it were part of the door. See how it looks to the fender.
stony
More boring pics. I'm past the color I actually really like it. when i push on the back of the car the entire shell flexes. the chassis is not flexing just the shell. and since thats not for for paint and fiberglass I'm going to add more attach point to the body and cage. Here between the windshield frame. and another between the door jam and bar.
sq_creations
Seriously one of my favorite threads to watch. So what are you using to attach the flares. Is that a special body glue? Removing the screws after or grinding them down?
sileightygx
just got a chance to go through the whole thread...and wow. hope it puts a fat smile on your face once you finally finish. looks to be soon too!
stony
It is body panel glue. its the stuff they use to glue corvettes together. Stuff is tough. The screws will be removed and holes filled. There is alot of bodywork left, hope to have it in primer by the end of next week.
stony
Right side just about done. Very tight fit!!! After paint i will more then likely have to disco the shocks and lower the rearend down to get the wheels off, but they will work!!! BTW the gussets i had welded in stiffened up the body ALOT!!!! no more flex!!! Edited June 19, 2011 by stony

fast-datsun
I just let the air out of the tires to get them off the car.......... Edited June 27, 2011 by fast-datsun
RB26powered74zcar
Looks like serious bizz.... Stony, won't those tires grow quite a bit during burn outs, and rub the fender wells? (just asking )
stony
Looks like serious bizz.... Stony, won't those tires grow quite a bit during burn outs, and rub the fender wells? (just asking ) Didn't get any real good clearance shots. The sidewalls will actually get skinnier and i have 3+inches of clearance on the front and rear of the fender SO i shouldn't have any issues. And yes once its painted i will have to disco the shocks and lower the rearend out of the car to safely get the tires off without dicking up the paint.
