  1. You mean to tell me that Datsun put overdrive automatics in 380ZX's Australia and not the USA? THis is absolutely the first I've heard about it. The ZX's in the USA didn't get overdrive automatics until the 300's came out.
  2. You have a 3 speed auto - no overdrive.
  3. Don't forget that the front damper is also responsible for dampening (gyroscopically) flex in the crankshaft, reducing loads on the front bearing. YOu could go lighter, but not nonexistent.
  4. Dude - my dad has this ultimate set of tools - we can fix this....
  5. Sorry for your loss. My dad was always on the road when I was young, but I was always taking things apart and fixing them. He's into woodworking, I'm into metalworking and machinery. We're both handy at around the house repairs though - that is one thing that we always did together, and I do for him now. My dad's 80 and I'm thankful for every day I get to spend with him.
  6. Some MT '75's had R180's also...
  7. I have lived as an adult in Charlotte, Gastonia and Hickory NC, Austin and El Paso TX, Albuquerque NM and Atlanta GA. Living in El Paso was great - close to mountains, High Desert climate - less humidity that Phoenix AZ and no State Income Tax. Albuquerque was more expensive to live in than El Paso, anmd the food wasn't as good. I live in Tlanta now, but grew up here. I have visited Houston in October, and there is no way I would even VISIT in the summer. I was a party animal when living in NC and don't remember much of it....But El PAso had it beat for standard of living for sure.
  8. I bought this one from my local HF store for $285 including tax. (on sale and 20% off coupon). 20" swing BIG motor.
  9. Dude - you're about a month and a half late with this topic....
  10. It's real easy for me to believe they weigh that much - my '94 Q45a weighs more than 200 lbs more than my '96 Lincoln Town Car. Without the active suspension, it would STILL weigh more. A lot of engineering stuffed into a small space.
  11. Why not use the stock seats, then use garbage bags to hold the spray in expandable foam to get them form fitted (spray the stuff in and before it dries sit in the seeat for an exact fit)? You can have a lot of excess and then shape/shave the excess foam off and contour the bolsters and edges.
  12. Count me in as a fan of the MM175 too - had it for 5 years now and loving it.
  13. Thanks Grumpy - I've been wondering what would be best for a TT Chevy and now I know...

  15. Sounds like a great excuse to use an electric water pump to me....
  16. If I am readin gthe MSII site correctly, it does handle knock detection. I believe there is a daughtercard available for the other functions. I'm thinking that the increased resolution of MSII and large injectors on the ZXT would be a good thing...
  17. I'm not sure a turbo needs theextras inMSnS_E, but I am looking at Megashift, which will be MSII only and eventually maybe UMS. This will be for the '75 TT SBC project. Debating on MSI or II for the '83ZXT.
  18. It's a great indicator for seeing that you have 1 or more valves not sealing properly - the needle will fluctuate at idle....a good amount.
  19. Please be aware that EVERY wheel will be ~ 1" wider than the stqated measurement - the bead width of tires. Therefore a 17x8" would work for you on front.
  20. The V32 board will support EDIS w/o the Extra code. If you don't need the following features, I would go with MSII: Injector Staging Overboost Protection Decel Enrichment Coolant temp tiiming advance Idle temp timing retard Traction Control Over Run Fuel Cut AfterStart Enrichments Cranking Priming Settings RPM based fuel enrichment I am seriously considering going w/MSII for my '83 ZXT because I haven't come across enough reasons that MSI would outperform the MSII with the large injectors I am planning on using.... I am of course open to all arguements that would disabuse me of this inclination...
  21. I thought that relativity stated that as you approch the speed of light that mass also increases... I'm old though, and I took physics a long time ago....
  22. Yes, MS1 will send a signal to EDIS - check out the MS Forum... http://www.msefi.com/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=7c8134b2a4161b7f41ac2b151f7f0796
  23. Personally I have never had a problem with the wire speed sensing on my MM175 - I set my voltage and then adjust the wire speed to suit the situation. I trained on Lincoln stuff when I took classes at the local VoTech, but after researching on the internet, I went with BLUE, because they are much nicer to the "little guys" and provide forums to learn and ask questions on. Haven't regretted the decision at all.
  24. If you keep touching metal as you step out of the car, no spark. I noticed when I went toi Michelin Energy MXV4's that there was a lot more of this same thing happening than before - higher silicon content in the rubber I believe is the cause. There are strips that many trucks and cars are adorned with to discharge this static charge, that just touches the ground when the car comes to a stop, but are off the road when moving.
  25. Sounds nice Mike - and closer for me if/when I get the chance to come up there again! I built the house I'm in 8 years ago, and have done all the wiring and piping for 220 and air to the garage and the workshop in the basement, built shelves in the garage and basement....now my wife wants to move to where I can have a detached garage/workshop! I wouldn't mind, but that would mean more land, and I detest yard work, and won't pay anyone to do it. I'm pretty much in between my parents and only surviving sibling, and wherever I could go (affordable) would create a LOT more driving. You are talking a quality of life issue here - you know you'd be happier, all it will take is the time (and money) to make the new place your own. Go for it!
