Can't you double the displacement on some of those motors by boring and stroking it out? I know my dad had quite a baja bug when he was younger. Not sure why though. He could have bought a Pantera or a '69 Mach 1, but was short about $100 each time.

control arm reviews?

Don't do it Mike, NOOOO!!!!! jk Good luck on the new job. When I get done with college and hopefully get a decent job, I'm not sure how much time I will have either. TT Supra or C5, eh? How about a new Cobra? New blower = 600HP without anything else. I know you're a handling guy though, so a new front k-member would definitely up the price. Anyways, whatever you end up doing, don't leave the Z, and good luck with everything -
control arm reviews?

Son of a B****. I just needed a little more time for some research and to gather some more money. -
I know all about that. Exhibitionist speed and all that good stuff. I would have been caught for that if the cop could have caught up to me, because I spun 'em through most of first gear. If traction control would have been off, I probably would have spun 'em through some of 2nd too. I'm really careful around here. I do very little, especially on the street. I was getting all my need for speed stuff out at the indoor karting facilities, but I haven't been able to go lately. Guess my adrenaline just got the best of me.

LS1 / T56 Update #26 - 1/4 Time
Moridin replied to Phantom's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Jeromio, I'd suggest an aftermarket shifter if you haven't done so already. The Pro 5.0 is extremely worth while. Add some Redline synthetic in that tranny and it will shift like a dream. -
He really did give an honest opinion now, didn't he? Very funny, but in a sense, also a little scary. It's hard to believe people are that ignorant or uninformed.

Gotta be the new Cobra 4.6L. Change the supercharger out for an instant 600HP. Want more? Just up the boost, add exhaust, chip, and intake. Need I say more? How about 750HP without even taking the head off.

Idea for installing Honda S2000 VTEC motor into a Z...
Moridin replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Answer for lack of torque: Supercharger I'm a big fan of turbos, but I don't think you could find one that would supply torque down low (lack of exhaust flow) and then take advantage of all the flow up top (too much exhaust flow.) A good supercharger would give you that extra little bit on the bottom and some good numbers up top. Oh, those guys running under six seconds from 0-60 are dropping the clutch at some unheard of RPM. -
There is some stuff about the older DOHC V6s that were in some of GM's vehicles. It is mainly with the Fiero guys though. One even said that the older DOHC V6's sounded identicle to a Ferarri untill 4500RPM.

Someone was posting some stuff about the DSM motors. They make some damn good power in hybrid form. I want to say there was some company that was putting together motors from 300HP to 500HP for under $6000. I'm not sure about trannies and all, but maybe somebody knows something. I'll look for the links.

The micro-fiber towels work really, really well. They solve streaking with just about any product.

Well, the mini-van went wacko when we (the family) was heading back from Calaveras (spelling?) Big Trees. Brakes went wierd, guages and other leds inside looked like an alien was attacking the car, and there is a coolant leak somewhere - Here's my tip for the day, don't ever buy a Dodge/Chrysler mini-van made before 1998. Oh, and the tranny is leaking too. To get on with my story, my dad and I went to go drop the mini-van off at the dealership to have them fix everything. To get over there, my dad drove the van, and I took my mom's Cobra. So, my dad gets out in front of me a little ways while I let the car warm up in the drive way. I head out, and hit a stop light along the main drag while driving toward the freeway on ramp. I see two Mustangs (one 93/94-98 and one 5.0), an Iroc Z Camaro, and a Prelude all hauling as they make a left at the light. I think to myself that they are all out tonight (As were the cops, because I saw three cops pull people over out in front of my work in the space of an hour or two). I keep going down the main drag to the next stoplight and see this little white Miata with the music going. He gives it a little gas and runs through first a little ways, but sees the next light is red. I give him a little taste of the Eaton whine through the next area, until we come upon the last light before the freeway on-ramp (The on-ramp is just a straight shot onto 680 from the light). I'm pretty sure he's going to try and race me, but I wait just a moment to see if he takes off. Sure enough, he lays the loud pedal down. I give it a little gas in first - just enough to keep up -, look over, he nods, I give him the peace sign, and I put it to the floor. Poor little thing never had a chance. What one man said about the Cobra fits what happened perfectly. "Have you ever seen how fast a horse runs when it has been bitten by a snake?" Finally, I get off the freeway, only to find the blue convertible Mercedes SLK that was behind the Miata right behind me. I guide the loud pedal a little more through heavily curved off ramp to remind him that the snake can also slither through the corners. Well...I make it over to the dealership and turn in to find my dad waiting there for me. I look over my shoulder to see the little Miata coming off the freeway for some more. I think he caught a glimpse of the Mercedes and tried to tag along back to the freeway on ramp in the opposite direction. Then, out of the back of the dealership (where you can see the on-ramp in the opposite direction) a cop turns its lights on right behind the Miata. I was just reminded how dumb I had been. I don't condone racing on the street at all. As tempting as it is, I've yet to engage...until now. I try to justify it to myself by saying it was an on ramp, and that's ok. In reality, that could have been me being pulled over (Although I highly doubt that cop ever thought they'd catch me.) and I don't want any tickets, as I'm only 19. Someone could have been hurt, especially if a car was sitting on the on-ramp. It was a rush though, and my heart was going. If I get my Z going like the Cobra goes, I don't think I'll ever want more.

You know what I found works best is some Maguires Gold Class Car Wash and a clean micro fiber towel. Glass is so clean that I always have to do the inside, because it makes the windows look dirty.

Honda's motor designs have basically been a motorcycle type since their beginning. The S2000 is a great example of that. As a culture, I also believe the Japanese value efficiency. If I recall correctly, one of the best engineering schools in the country (and maybe the world) is run by Honda. Anywho, it all depends on taste. Do you like running the motor sky high, or sacrificing rev range for some grunt on the low end.

We really just want to see if we can get you enough, so you are definitely covered. Personally, I've seen how much work you've put into the car and I don't want to see you sell it.
-
Really dumb, but I wish I would have though of it. I wonder how much those guys are really making on this stuff. Those funds would easily pay to have my Z all done. As for the women, just give them protective masks. The type of guys that are out there probably only care about a bare a** and some naked breasts.

What about some sort of donation thing setup. If someone has a Pay Pal account that we could use, maybe we could get something started. I'd be sure to give something to help save your son. On another note, I have a guy that I work with that didn't have insurance when he managed to get a hernia. Well, to make a long story short, he ended up in debt. Quite a bit of debt for someone only 23 and making close to min. wage. Basically, the bill collectors were after him all the time. He found that as long as he threatened bankruptcy, he kept them at bay and his payments small. Definitely figure out how to set up your house and cars, so credit and insurance companies can't get to them.

I'm not trying to discredit you, but what happened to push her over the edge? People tend to be reasonable by nature - some definitely aren't though. Who paid for the car? You or your mom? Oh...if you have AAA and your tires are slashed, just have it towed to wherever you need it. Make sure that you keep it somewhere she can't find it too. If I were you, I'd try and find a laywer that doesn't charge for consulting, and see what it would take to get just your name on the title.

http://www.chrfab.com makes a bellhousing to mate a T56 to the Northstar. The XLR is using a RWD version of the Northstar now.

rear disc conv. or new suspension set up
Moridin replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
ARP makes some really strong lugs. I'm pretty sure they'd be perfectly fine. The only reason I'd want to go to five lug would be the wheel selection. As for the differential, I believe an R200 would hold up ok, but I'd be a little worried about the half shafts if you are planning on dragging the car. If you really want a good answer, talk to ScottieGNZ about his car and the rear ends he's been through. -
Brown Bead. I don't remember the name of the company, but that's their product. Outdid Dynamat and all that for way less.

We have an excellent place out here in Santa Clara I believe. They specialize in Cobra's, LS1's, and Vipers. I think their name is Apex Motorsports and I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to do some motor work for a decent price. I'd love to do a Ford motor, but I have something else in mind. It isn't the usual, but it's along the same lines as the Ford. I just need to get the money first.

16's or 17's? need ppls thoughts!
Moridin replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Check out some of Enkei's stuff. They make some really light wheels for a good price. http://www.enkei.com/highperformance/rpf1.htm I know you want that deep dish look, but that seems harder and harder to come by these days. Strike all that, because if I remember correctly you are running a 4 lug setup. -
