  1. Stock for stock, the Duramax's are far weaker. The rods are tiny in comparison. That can be easily remedied, because I believe the Duramax motors have a fairly strong aftermarket for engine internals. Look at the Banks road race truck. Its a modified Duramax making quite a bit of power. Enough to bust a bunch of parts. Unfortunately, his off the shelf stuff isn't nearly as cool though. I believe the 5 cylinder Cummins comes in the new wierd looking Daimler/Chrysler box truck.
  2. Civil case...HAH! That is very much criminal for grand theft auto. I can't believe the DA is being so easy.
  3. Although, the Cummins from the factory is much stronger, I would look into the Duramax. It's an aluminum block and heads making it far lighter than the Cummins and not as tall. You could probably run it up a little above 4000RPM too. Not to mention the new OEM setup from GM comes in with 360HP and 650 lb. ft. of torque. Cummins also makes a 4 and 5 cylinder which I believe is based of the inline 6 in the Dodge's.
  4. I'm not sure if anyone knows this yet, but I found out last weekend that the new super Z06 is truly being tested with intentions of being put into mass production. Supercharged to the tune of over 600HP. I found out through a certain tire engineer who was doing the development for the car at the Nurburgring. For those that thought 500HP was enough, guess again.
  5. Hey look, its the newest addition to the yet to be released Transformer movie!
  6. Wheelman, you could try NASA too. I really like the way they set their stuff up. http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.html
  7. Pleasant Hill. I should refraise what I said...I would love to see an AWD Evo do a burnout, even a rolling one.
  8. The lead car from my team took 3rd today. It was an awesome finish at a very nice facility. I'm stoked to say the least, because one driver is leading the points in GT2 by decent amount. I'm not going to the Portland race, but I may be going to others during the rest of the season. I'd love to go to Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, but I'm not sure how that will work out with school.
  9. Goto SN65.com. Details everything. I've been following the car for awhile after I cought wind of it on a Mustang site. The level of detail involved is almost unimaginable. If there is one thing to be said about the car's buildup, I would say "PATIENCE!"
  10. Got some more pictures. I don't do this all the time. They (the team I work for in ALMS) needed some help again, so they called me up. Normally, I'm go to community college, baby sit two 100lb Rottweiler during the week, and work at Starbucks on the weekends. Unfortunately, I do not crew full time, but the guys who do in ALMS usually make a very good living. Depends on the team though. Enough about that, how about the track? Miller Motosports Park is one bad@$$ race track. The garages are amazing, the facilities are top notch, and you can actually see quite a bit of the track if you're a spectator. I believe there is an amazing viewing area at the end of the front straight, where some of the P1 and P2 cars were approaching 200MPH+. I don't know how many of you know this yet, but I believe it is now the longest raceway in America. Close to 4.5 miles all the way around. Here's some more pics from the race: Team is setup and ready to go...only fueler and team manager out on pit lane Once the car comes to a stop...you can start The fuel must be completely done with before touching the air jacks to get the tires changed Fuel is full, pulling out, and moving the hell out of the way Mr. O'Connell starting the rolling burnout Finished with said burnout Different angle It was a good race, but boring until the last 15 minutes when one of the P2 Penske Porsches had a fuel pump failure and died right in front of the pits. Full course yellow. Allowed our lead car to get up to 3rd...almost took the White Lightning car for 2nd, but couldn't pull it off. Made for an exciting finish. If you have any questions, just ask. Oh...after this, according to Davey, I'm going to have to start looking for another name on here for my new account. I probably won't be allowed back
  11. When you're in court, get him to say that he saw you driving earlier. Do not elude to anything else. When he says "yes, he was driving through the area earlier," simply then tell the judge that you had been working on the car throughout the day and it had only been on the street for the past few minutes. Also present pictures of the bump (preferably in the dark) to also prove that you were not driving recklessly, as the construction obstacle was not marked.
  12. Look what I found when I went back to work this weekend (for the first time since 2004): and a few more of my surroundings:
  13. Very cool, but I consider those donuts...not quite the same in my book. Congrats on the new Evo. When does the modding begin?
  14. Yeah, I'd love to see a burnout vid... ...from any Evo for that matter.
  15. I have to say that the M3's stock exhaust is quite raspy, a bit like some of the buzzy Honda mufflers. However, all of the aftermarket systems for the M3 have significantly changed the sound for the better. Mike, I still say 911. How many of the cars listed have you driven?
  16. I'm not trying to get into about that. Its just my viewpoint. The big thing I'm trying to say is that tailpipe emissions should be the focus (within reason), not anything visual except for crankcase vents and such, even though its an old car or not. I do realize there are far fewer older cars on the road, but it all contributes. I guess it all depends on your thoughts on global warming. I'm doing the best I can to not keep this political.
  17. No, but there a social responsibilty involved. When my Datsun is all said and done, I will be running catalytic converters and a decent tune. I love to roast off tires and spit black crap as much as the next guy, but when I go to LA and have a white washcloth turn almost black after wiping my face off due to being outside in the smog all day, I change my thinking.
  18. Sport Compact Car did an awesome little article on the guy who basically created the Gran Turismo series. There were three or four cars that had a ton of stuff done to them. Not your basic bolt ons, but swiss cheesing the chassis, moving suspension mounting points around, etc... The times of the cars on a circuit dropped considerably. The S2000 lopped almost 10 seconds off its time at a certain course. I never even knew that people did this stuff...and I worked for a race team (they didn't design the Porsches, just raced them). By flaring the hole, you add effective depth and make it stronger.
  19. I think it has something to do with rear tires and some handbrake modifications.
  20. I think its a good idea except for the visual. If the car can pass California tail pipe standards, it should be fine. The reality is that the U.S. is behind a lot of other nations in the world when it comes to auto emissions. That's really bad considering we have one of the largest automotive markets in the world.
  21. I say the 911, purely because it compromises little in the daily driver department while still able to be a competent track car.
  22. I would have told your boss to eat the $77. As for a good ratchet...Husky has some really nice ones: http://huskytools.com/husky/Category95752/Category95753/Category95759/Product2.html and http://huskytools.com/husky/Category95752/Category95753/Category95759/Product3.html
