  1. Sounds like that diff isn't set up right. I've never heard one make that much noise, even in a racecar.
  2. I think that M3 GTR still holds some records on a few of the coures it raced on when they were competing in the ALMS.
  3. Except when you can put it in launch control mode (Audi, BMW, Ferrari, etc...) and launch the piss out of the car. This is especially usefull in the Audis (TT anyone) for very, very fast 0 to 60 times.
  4. Front tire fryers. Makes for great traction. Shouldn't those trap speeds be a bit higher for the claimed output? 400HP and 106MPH. Something is not adding up. I mean, a 370RWHP Cobra will trap above 110 easy. Don't the C5 Z06's trap around 115? Maybe its driving style or extremely small powerband. Who knows?
  5. Light weight...Lotus Elise anyone? How about a Noble? As far as the Z4 coupe goes, I think its awesome. Far more along the lines of a retro 240Z. Change the headlights around, lengthen the body a bit and call it good.
  6. You can always plumb it back in and run a cutout right after where the wastegate goes into the exhaust.
  7. That's interesting...I'll have to tell my friend and his dad. I did forget to mention that my friend beats the living piss out of everything he drives.
  8. Rotary. When I worked for Flying Lizard Motorsports last year, that's what they used exclusively. They're the only lift I've seen that can easily get under a very low vehicle. They worked flawlessly the whole time I saw them in use. A few of the guys street cars went on there for repairs too. No problems.
  9. All I can say is, its a forced induction car (especially turbo), so changing the oil more frequently is already a must. A testament to frequent oil changes is my friend's turbo'd Volvos. His dad has over 300,000 miles on it and they've always changed the oil short of 3000 mile intervals since new. It still runs like a beast. His other modded 740 ran over 225,000 miles before he went for a newer, stronger built motor. Turbo's (especially newer ones) have much smaller tolerances that oil has to cycle through to keep it healthy. If you run the car hard and shut it off without a good cool down, it will also shorten the ability of the oil to do its job effectively. For more good info, check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com Lots of awesome info and they advertising on where to get your oil examined to see what a good run interval would be for you.
  10. That Cobra he raced is not straight axle. The newer ones are, as are all the non-Cobra models from previous years. His quote on power is dead on. If he had the blower ported, he would be making close to 500RWHP based on his boost quote. Here's what my mom's Cobra dyno looks like: http://home.comcast.net/~moridin2002/Cobra498.jpg Your car must be movin' pretty damn quick to keep up with something like that. I don't recall reading any of your posts (or seeing anything on your web site) quoting power output or track times. That Cobra should be hovering around low 11s around 118-122 (with a decent driver of course) to give you an idea.
  11. If you're looking for a place to get intercooler piping. There are a few. These are the only two that I can remember at the moment: http://www.kteller.com http://www.burnstainless.com
  12. It drowns out a lot of your exhaust noise. My friend had his wastegate running open on his single turbo Supra (yes, I know, everyone has a friend with a Supra) and personally, it sounded pretty crappy. I'd much rather hear the melodious sound of one's exhaust compared to that.
  13. No VIN number requirement anymore
  14. This forum is by far the most helpful and insightful I have found on the internet. I've been on Freshalloy, Supra forums, Vette forums, etc... Most of them are junk. However, I have found a few helpful gems here and there. This is what I've found: For Honda stuff: http://www.hondaswap.com http://www.honda-tech.com (not in the "normal" forums. Browse the welding/fab, swap/hybrid, and forced induction areas. The welding/fab one is especially helpful) Ford stuff: http://www.svtsnake.com http://www.modularfords.com http://www.svtperformance.com (Good detailing section under the show n' shine heading. Tons of videos in the pictures/videos and the Cobra section is quite helpful) Misc: http://www.msefi.com http://www.bobistheoilguy.com (Awesome oil info) There probably are a few others, but I can't remember at the moment.
  15. Its definitely confusing at first. Start reading the basic FAQ and go from there. There are companies that build the units, but you still have to wire them up. Not a bad deal though when you add everything up.
  16. Bigger turbo and Manual Boost Controller I believe If MBC is what I'm thinking as I stated above, I doubt it would be of any use, because the boost is controlled by the computer. That's what the upgraded computer is for. Pushes the boost from the stock 9.4 to about 14.5. Do that, intake, and an exhaust and the car will be much, much quicker. You can't do much more, because I'm pretty sure the tranny won't hold up to any more than 300HP.
  17. Check out http://www.msefi.com There is also a megasquirt specific forum in the Engine Components section of Hybridz.org
  18. Get yourself a chip from IPD and it should pull better than an 850R
