  1. Easy fix...by a diesel powered car/truck and run a new tank with a heater for vegetable oil. You can get it just about anywhere for free and all you have to do is filter it before going in the tank. Run car/truck on diesel for a few miles until you have enough heat in the vegetable oil, then flip a switch to trade over to the oil. A little before you're about to stop, turn back to diesel to purge the lines. You'll only be paying for the tiny amount of diesel fuel you'll use until the vehicle is warmed up.
  2. How much are you looking to get for the Lincoln?
  3. I have the race on DVD. Recorded it off the Tivo. I had to rewind and play that several times, because I didn't believe it. On a side note, the team I worked for, for a summer, took first and third in GT2. How about them Penskes? Pretty awesome. Can't wait for the diesel R10 to come back and the new Lexus IS350s. WOOO!!!
  4. Its probably on the way. Should see Ronin and both Italian Job movies.
  5. I'm with you on that one.
  6. Haha...the hunk of junk is fast, but it has so many problems. She never knew that my dad and I added 125 wheel HP over stock. She just thought the exhaust was a little louder. One day, she found the dyno sheet on the back seat and brought it into work (she's an office manager at an engineering firm). An engineer says "Holly s***, you could fly a plane with that much power!" I get a call from my mom not 20 minutes later, "What the f*** did you do to my car?" My dad I still joke about how much more drivable powerful cars are today. She had know clue. I'm thinking about trying to get it in the Sport Compact Car Ultimate Car Challenge. I know it would win the grandma award easy.
  7. My dad just got his a few months ago after having it on pre-order for 4+ months. How long did you have to wait for yours? Awesome camera.
  8. Me: Mountain/Downhill bike, school (I'll be an ME someday), and work on getting my little Honda Civic track ready (and not of the 1/4 mile variety). Although, it seems like I spend more time with my girlfriend and working on my mom's 03 Cobra than anything else.
  9. I've talked to a couple of guys who were working on non-flammable resin for CF
  10. My brother had a friend in highschool with a mid 80's Toyota truck that got some pretty crappy milage on 33's. He did a vapor injection kit (water injection I believe) and saw at least a 30% increase in milage. I'm pretty sure it a was a carbed 22R, so he was able to jet it down along with some increased timing to get better fuel milage. It may help and be a far better alternative to swapping motors around. Upping the output of the TDI motor is extremely simple. I don't think people realize how easy it is to get more power from a turbo diesel. Far easier than a gas motor IMO. Don't forget that with diesel motors that as power increases so does milage (unless big injectors and giant turbo are installed).
  11. Actually, that's exactly what I did, but it was for a HPDE. Sometimes, if you look closely at the rules, you can use either/or.
  12. They need a show where they actually build credible track cars for a grassroots level. That would be sweet.
  13. I miss the one show with the twins from the Powerblock. They actually walked you through a Supra engine build. Hopefully we will see Stacey again shortly.
  14. The only thing you'll see on the car is the rear end as it blows past you. Not for very long I might add either, as it crests the horizon out of view way too quickly to process. 700+ RWHP C5 Z06 Vette or this: http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/inventory/images/cars/thumbnails/tn7006_01.jpg You can decide.
  15. The R10s are actually so quiet, the drivers were having a hard time listening for the motor to change gears during testing. Its not like the R8's were all that loud either. I remember working right next to them and you could barely hear one go by, especially when a nearby Porsche GT3 RSR was in full effect. It was a big day for motorsports, whether the diesel thing has been done before or not. You are going to see more and more attempts at diesel racing cars, which translates itself into more high performance diesels for the consumer market. I want to see the cars without the particulate filters in the exhaust, so they can "pour the coal!!!"
  16. Shattered the 2002 qualifying mark by 2 seconds: http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=1815
  17. You need to make a test drive day...go test drive as many cars as you can in a day (or weekend) and find what you like. You like your wife's car, but who says the Si won't be a completely different animal that may not fit what you want. Try an EVO, Si, Sti, GTO, etc... Get in as many different cars as you can and then compare. Its the only way you're going to get something you really will enjoy for a long time. I've found that when making these kind of decisions that taking your time and truly evaluating what you want and need will make you the happiest. This is especially relevant when buying a car. If you can sell your SRT4 and still be ok when you move, why don't you find something out there. You may even want a different car entirely based on the area you're going to live in. Who knows?
  18. Want to drive the sedan version of the Corvette? Test drive a used CTS-V. I actually liked driving it better than the C6 after doing both. Won't get the deal that you would with a GTO, but the prices may be comparable on an 04 CTS-V and new GTO. May be...I'm not sure.
