  1. As for the compression ratio and boost level, there are two shcool of toughts on this subject. 1- run high compression and just enough boost or 2- run low compression and boost all you can. I won't go any further down that route as you really need to take time an find what you want to do with the car. One thing though, higher comp./lower boost cars tend to be more drivable off boost and to MY TASTES, makes for a better daily driver, just my 2cents.
  2. Thanks for this, this is how I figured it would work but, I was'nt sure enough.
  3. That is why I said it was easier to fix assuming (I know I should'nt do that) the guy is not a mechanic. Thanks for yor time, I'll ask the question in the other forum.
  4. What I meant by easier to fix was: IF something goes wrong, there are fewer possibilities with carbs than FI. Not everybody understands the concept of movement of electrons even though they might understand the basic working of an FI system. As for the sound part, I just visualised an ITB settup with plennum still attached compared to individual open carbs, my bad. While we're at it Mr. Mortensen, I was wondering how do you install your MAF, when you do remove the plennum on let's say an RB26DETT? I know people do it but, I just have a hard time visualising it, thanks.
  5. I was wondering, the VLSD shafts are longer only on the passenger side of the car right? Could one just buy a third open diff. axle, cut the splined portion and have it welded at the end of the shaft in order to be able to engage the viscous coupling?
  6. Take a good look of what you just said and you'll see that there's a way to simplify things a bit. First, you say you want M3 ITBs and Maybe an RB26 head. Instead, buy a complete RB26 head with intake and you'll allready have those ITBs. ITBs M3s were never sold in the U.S. (I think) so, you'd have to find some in Europe or from a Canadian E36 M3 and they'll command a pretty impressive price, I know, cause I work at BMW. Another thing to think about is the RB24 "this is a relatively unknown engine, as it was not produced for the Japanese domestic market. These were fitted to some left hand drive Nissan Cefiros exported from Japan new. Mechanically it is made from an RB30E head, RB25DE/DET block and RB20DE/DET crank with 34 mm height pistons. This engine used carburretors instead of the Nissan ECCS fuel injection system. This has the outcome of it being able to rev harder than the RB25DE/DET (as it has the same stroke as the RB20DE/DET) as well as being almost the same displacment as the RB25DE/DET. A common modification is to fit a twin cam head from other RB series motors while retaining the carburreted set-up. The standard single cam form produced 141 PS @ 5000 rpm and 20.1 kgf·m (197 N·m) of torque @ 4400 rpm." (the parts between quote marks was taken from wikipedia)
  7. Wow, that must make for a tough rear end.
  8. I read about that about 5 years ago in (don't laugh) sportcompactcar magazine, back when they were'nt owned by primedia. Dave Coleman wrote the article. It was Garrett who was working on the idea at the time and it looked verry promising. They were actually developping it for heavy equipement industry. After a while of not having any news on the subject I e-mailed Mr. Coleman myself to ask about it, his answer was that even though he was as enthusiastic as I was, he did'nt think we'd see that for cars in the near futur.
  9. When I look at that car, makes me wish VW would have built it RWD.
  10. I always liked this body kit for the VW Corrado. It's from an european company named Rieger. It's not a Z but the idea to me is good. See the air vents in the fenders, just like yours, my idea here would be to keep what you have and just extend your fender flares down a bit and just build a "wrap" around that would hide the tank and muffler. Hope it helps, keep it up, you have a wonderfull looking car.

  12. Wow, thanks, that was cristal clear and NOT boring at all. You have any good sites that you'd recomend on the subject?
  13. Wow, the orange and the black ones are awesome. I think I'll order the orange one or maybe the white one and try different colors on it to give me an good idea of what my car would look like.
  14. You just made your first step into the longest journey of your life, enjoy. One member here had a signature that I liked alot but, I can't remember who. It said: If I could get back all the money I ever spent on cars, well... I'd spend it all on cars. LOL
  15. The bad thing is you really have to take your time and press in with your fingers to feel exactly where it's separated then, you have to make sure you hold the part of your nose that's still in place with 2 fingers, then you take grab the loose part with 2 fingers from the other hand and move it. The worst part is that you have to send it a bit further than it was originaly so it will crack the other way and stay in place. It hurts like hell but it'll hurt less than if you wait untill you get to the clinic, then you wait some more for the doctor, then your face is all swollen and it hurts twice as mutch. Keep in minde that if any doctor read what I just wrote here he'd probably kill me.
  16. If you go see a doctor, he's gonna do just that, The only difference is you're going to wait inline to have it done. Don't wait untill you have two nice shiners cause, then it's gonna hurt like hell.
  17. So, it was more of a joke than a serious statement? I feel releaved now, you kinda scared me for a moment there.
  18. That's not ITBs, it's 6 individual motorcycle carbs.
  19. Since when does a 73Z have headlight sprayers? Thanks for all the answers guys. Scottie-GNZ: do you think that meth. injec. is a viable option for a street driven car? As I'm not looking at drag racing at all, maybe a few runs to see what the car can do but, I'm more about track days and canyon carving so, would it be effective over a longer period of time? Is there any other stuff that would do the job and be less expensive per gallon? I know that there's the WATER injec. option but, is it efficient enough?
