  1. On the F body , at least 98-02 , the fuel filler/door is on the driver side . The Z is on the pass. side , so Sunny Z is correct , you have to turn it 180 .
  2. I would MIG weld the whole thing yourself . You should be able to lay a nice bead with a MIG . You can clean it up and put some high temp silver paint afterward . Unless you are using polished SS piping and wanting to show it off . If you are going with TIG , I would tack it , at least 4 spots evenly around the pipe . The welder should be able to weld it w/o warpage .
  3. Once again , GET A DONOR CAR . A lot cheaper in the long run . Take everything you need for your conversion and sell the rest to get some $$$ back . Try to find an F body for under 2K , it's not impossible .
  4. That's why I only dipped the front airdam . We will see , this trend is still kinda new . If it works out then I"ll do the whole car . Much easier than paint , a lot less labor .
  5. Don't think they built 280ZXT in 1984 . 1983 was the last year of 280ZX . 1984 that when the 300ZX came out . But it looks like a transistor for ignition system or an ignitor . Don't remember seeing one in my 83 turbo .
  6. I have seen the second photo way too many times at our shop . . And most of the customers said " it just started to make noise yesterday " . Yeah , right .
  7. Don't think so . You need 0 offset for 16x7 .
  8. I don't blame you . I'm thinking of buying my friend's 76 and it's brown too . Not my favorite color , will do yellow ( or blue ) if I get it . If you decide to do it , buy plasti-dip only , w/o Earlex gun/pump kit . I bought a pro-kit from DYC . You can get the gun from your local stores like Sears . Would be easier to exchange it if something goes wrong with gun . I had to call Earlex about my problem , they're going to send me a new one ( great custom service ) .
  9. Not bad . This is a test run to see how long this stuff will last in Texas heat .
  10. It's working . Got my vote . Good luck .
  11. I tried but had problem with security . Seems like others had problem too .
  12. My bad . Didn't know that much changed between 77 and 78 . That's why I noted the model year , just in case . I'm glad they made the change .
  13. I'm not talking about emission . 25 yrs and older is emission exempt in Texas . But the tailpipe has to exist pass driver seat to make it street legal , I was told by the inspector . For the Z it has to be either at the back ( OE location ) or after the rear tire w/ tip pointing out .
  14. Looking good . I see a lot of labor hrs and $$$ .
  15. You need to replace it with a boost gauge then install a turbo setup so you can see boost psi instead of amp. . And it'll make the car goes faster .
  16. What about your state law on exhaust system ? Might want to check into it before you spend time and money on building one .
  17. Mine before conversion . 78 model . Yours looks like someone messed with it .
  18. I highly rec you to switch to a voltmeter . Are you running longtube headers ? If so , a high cranking amp battery could solve your hot crank problem . My 82 GT did the same , heat soak from longtube headers . If you have a pipe that runs too close the starter , it'll do the same .
  19. What motor was in the car , EFI or carb ? I know fact is EFI .
  20. Plasti-dipped my airdam today , not a happy first timer . After my first coat , the damn compressor just stopped . It felt hot and had that electrical smell to it .The damn thing is brand new . This is the first time that I used it ( 3 min. ) . Tried to call customer service and guess what , they're closed today ( Labor Day ) . Had to finished the job with my spray gun . I'm not a paint/bodyman but I can do a little . Took me awhile to setup my gun ( I suck at it ) . Don't rec. using reg spray gun for this product . Too much material is wasted . It took 1/2 gal just to do the airdam . I'm pretty sure , I'll need at least 4 gals to do a complete car not 2 , as advertised . It turned out ok . Now I need to find the time to finish the rest of the car .
