  1. Carbs are pretty pricey since most cars are fuel injected .
  2. That's not the post that I saw . Here are some pics that I downloaded awhile back . Not 100% sure it's the same car .
  3. I've seen that Z somewhere on here , I think .
  4. It's better to get the car running as soon as you can . Enjoy it while you're upgrading or working on the other areas . And try not to have too many custom-made or out of town parts . I would say 80% of my parts are from local stores , easier to get replacements .
  5. Know the feeling . During my conversion , at least once a week , either UPS or Fed would stop by with parts . Normally I order my parts on Sunday so I can have them for the following weekend . Took me about 4 weekends to drop the LS out of the Z28 and in the Z , running . Most parts are from local parts stores .
  6. Yeah , I do see a few good deals on Z cars around DFW area . Got mine for $700 with almost rustfree . Came with extra longblock . Got it running and drove for a little over a year before LS conversion . Sold the L6 and trans for $850 plus many leftovers .
  7. Now you don't have enough travel to disengage the clutch ? What clutch combination are you running ; like flywheel , press plate , and clutch ? I know you are running ZX turbo motor and Z 5 spd trans.
  8. Yes , I'm using Champion 3 core rad. , works great in 100 + deg. Texas temp. . I have K&N filter in my airbox , it came with the car when I bought it . Just painted it red and I like it , has the OE look . It works fine .
  9. The Z fuel pump has a built-in high pressure relief valve which is set at around 55 to 60 psi ( border line for the LS ) . The turbo pump relief valve sets a little higher pressure . If your pump is in good condition , use it . Haven't had any problem with my 78 Z . Turbo ZX is better . Go with Walbro if you want AM pump . My fuel filter mounts at OE location .
  10. When I did mine , I removed both manifolds . Had to remove a few broken studs . The header went in from the top . I bought header , new studs , nuts , and washers all from MSA . Make sure you reinstall the heat shield that goes between the manifolds , header puts out a lot of heat .
  11. How much movement at slave cylinder when the pedal is depressed ?
  12. Had it on my 78 . Loved it , had no problem with fitment . I would stay with single , don't see the need for dual unless you have a V8 . You might have to run fuel cell with dual setup , no room on the pass side for a muffler .
  13. I'm using OE fuel pumps on my 78 and 83 with Vette fuel filters ( have built-in regulators ) , stock LS motors . If you have carb Z then go with Walbro pump and Vette filter , cheapest way to go .
  14. You can use an old school test light for testing . I use an amp probe when I check for draw at my shop because most newer cars have BCMs and other modules that stay awake for a long time , sometimes up to 45 min.
  15. Components that can be turn on with key off should be hot all time , like brake switch , park/head lights , cig. lighter (?) . How many amps is your draw ? Also try to disconnect your alternator wirings to see .
  16. Should work with JTR ( Sanderson ) headers . Like I said , my motor mounts look similar to theirs .
  17. For now , until LS30 or LT30 comes out . LOL .
  18. I like . The kit looks well done . The motor mounts are similar to mine . The kit looks better than JTR . Good find , Ngo .
  19. Hurry up and get it done already . There's a conversion kit to get rid of optisparks ignition system , pricey , but it's worth it .
