  1. Very nice. Hard not to love an ORANGE car that's done well and this one is.
  2. I have once again changed my grille. While I liked the stock black plastic Dodge Ram stock grill I had it sort of blended in with the black fiberglass bumper making the front look like one big black hole. I picked up an aftermarket aluminum billet grill from a '04 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Regency. The LED turn signals are still behind the grille but shine through pretty well. It took a little more trimming than the stock Ram grille but I think it looks better with the bumper splitting the grill area. And it makes the front look lower and wider.
  3. My 280Z already had those holes. Good point about the zipties, I may have to change those. But I've had the car up and down many times and the sprigs have alway seated.
  4. Did you add the bump stops 88-715 from Black Dragon and spacers 23-4186 from zcarparts.com to the front?
  5. Unfortunately you can't get to those at all. The nuts are captured in the fender itself. I made a small bracket that drops a little below my fiberglass bumper so I could use the stock nuts. Of course you could mount the bumper a little lower to cover the nuts but the 240Z mount still won't line up, you'll either have to make a new bracket or use one of those nut inserts in your fender.
  6. Batteries, any battery, do not like being taken to total discharge. If you allowed that to happen it is totally dead and can not be recharged. Battery tenders will keep that from happening on a batttery that is sitting unattended for a long time.
  7. Since I changed my mind and screwed them down anyway that's a good idea, thanks. BTW I love the orange pint on your car, even if your signature is huge, LOL. Dale
  8. Nice job, the LS1 sure looks at home in there. Sound strong.
  9. I'm hoping those gaskets will keep the dirt out. So far its kept our horrible spring time yellow pine pollen out! I have not driven it in the rain yet but I rarely do anyway unless its unavoidable like going to DNI. That front spoiler is a story in its own. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129754&highlight=spoiler
  10. Damn that's one pretty rear end ya got there, LOL. Hmmm, interesting about the high speed stability. I haven't really had the car over 100 except for the short time on the drag strip. But like I said its in the plan. I won't be running the finned cover either when I swap in the LSD. As far as the 280Z bar mount you really can't easily shim it. That was going to be my plan until I look at how the stock bar is mounted. The brackets are welded on the body and don't allow for a shim without a lot of cutting and welding. Thats why I just took it off.
  11. Google search for Scarab louvered hood...second link are some picts.
  12. Run away, run away. Trust me, you do not want to deal with showcars. Do a search here you'll will understand why.
  13. Yep, I had that with my LT1 swap. It only hit when the car was in reverse. I removed the bar, might go with a back mount one later but right now the handling is fine without it. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=128081&highlight=u-joint
  14. If I were going to do this all over again I would look for a wrecked LS1 Fbody. I love my LT1 but prices are starting to come down on the LS1s. Plus you can part out the donor car after you've taken what you need and actually make money. You can always rebuild the engine or just add a few performance parts if you feel the need for more power. Really, 300 RWHP in these lite cars is pretty awesome for a daily driver!
  15. The first run with my car did the same thing. First run down the street it wouldn't shift at all. But on the second run all was fine and has not been an issue since. I think it takes some time for the fluid to circulate properly, that's simply a guess though I don't know squat about automatic transmissions, LOL. Make sure your fluid is right after you’ve driven it a while.
  16. I agree with 280Zforce, I wouldn't want fuel line running inside the car, especially aluminum line. Beautiful job none the less.
  17. I was watching Livin The Low Life on Speed TV the other day and they said wire wheels are hugh with the low rider crowd in LA. Try putting them on craigslist in LA. Might try a Triumph message board if you can find one, I think our wheels will fit the old Triumphs.
  18. LOL, that's what I was thinking. I thought a used LS1 was too expensive which is why I went LT1! One man's cheap is another man's expensive I guess.
  19. Check the ground on your bulb socket, don't rely on the frame to make the ground connection. Also make sure the ballest and a good ground and a strong +12v. One thing I've learned about HID from building underwater video lights is they don't like to be quick cycled. If you turn them on leave them on for at least 2 minutes, same if you turn them off, leave them off for at least 2 minutes.
  20. I thought about the tinted ones, I think they look cooler but was worried about the lose of light. I have upgraded to the cheap Ebay lights which are better than the stock Z lights but still not the greatest. And I'm an old dude with some night blindness as it is, LOL.
  21. Yes they do. In fact they actually make the ones for MSA. Give them a call, they are very cool people.
  22. Not the easiest things I have ever installed but once I got the brackets in the right places they fit well. Word of advice, don't use the supplied tape until you know exactly where the brackets are going to sit. There was a lot of hit and miss. Fortunately I have a ton on 3M tape here. I wanted to rely on the tape to hold them on but chickened out and screwed them down. Here's a closeup, they fit better than my hood, LOL.
