  1. How do you get the lock out of the glov box door? I took the two screws out of the backplate but it still won't come out. Tried insterting the key, no go. Gotta be some safety lock secret.
  2. Congrats, quite a feeling isn't it? The car looks awesome.
  3. Oh man, that sucks. The disappointment in your camera woman's voice is classic. Build it up again and get some CV axels.
  4. Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. Just didn't want to end up with a round hole!
  5. No, no, not the thread size. What size square insert to use to remove them? It looks like a 1/2" ratchet will work but its a little loose, don't want to ruin these things.
  6. Interesting. For $60 it might be worth trying it. Maybe they would send you some dimensions if you asked real nice!
  7. Don't think its going to help since he never mentions the brand. Anyone need a bug shield for a Dodge Ram, LOL. I emailed the seller but he does not remember the brand name. EBay# is 180227846997 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180227846997&rd=1
  8. That sound down right evil! Glad someone else asked about the hose cutting thing, LOL. Bummer about the head gasket, but I guess stock just can't cut it even at 5.5 boost.
  9. What is the size of the square diff drain plugs? I assume its metric.
  10. I like the shape too. Making your own stuff is always cooler than buying a pre-made one. A continuous curve would have been easier but not as unique. Post some picts when you get it done.
  11. EBay, where else, its like a drug! Just surfing one day and found it. I knew it would basically fit because I had a stock Dodge Ram gille in it already. I had to trim about 3 inches off each end the top half and trim a bit of a taper on the bottom half and remove the bottom bar altogether. I also removed center the bar where my home made bumper brackets come through. I made a few braces from the radiator brace to hold the grill in place.
  12. LOL, I didn't even notice that was there until the sun hit it just right. I spent hours "fixing" that Showcars POS to get it to fit that well. I have plans to extend the sides some more, I'll fix that pucker then.
  13. Ok there it is, thought maybe you were build and drag car running on battery only. Or some weird driveshaft driven alternator like that crazy NASCAR fuel pump, LOL.
  14. Nice. Basically the offset is given in millmeters, just convert that to inches and you have the spacer thinckness in inches you need to get to zero offset. +20 is close to 3/4". (0.7873992). This is a great calculator: http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp
  15. I was just saying for drivabilty as a daily driver the T5 would be fine and the expense of the T56 would only benifit him during highway driving. You're right, with the rear ratios they put in the Camaros highway economy was amazing. I'm getting close to 19 in town with my 280Z LT1 with an automatic and a 3.54 rear. The only road trip I've done was to DNI and it got 21.5.
  16. Co-o-o-o-ol!!! It fits pretty nicely in there. But I see no alternator????
  17. See, you really can't believe everything you read on the web, LOL. Still, lord knows what anyone would do with 6th gear other than get better gas milage when cruising.
  18. PCMs and stock wiring harness aren't that expensive. They are on EBay all the time. Check your local JY. The PCM will need reprogrammed anyway so the doner car isn't that importent. What did your LT1 come out of? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-camaro-lt1-t0-t56-wiring-harness_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33733QQihZ010QQitemZ200216332976QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95-5-7l-LT1-Impala-SS-Camaro-Z28-ECU-PCM-Computer_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33596QQihZ025QQitemZ380016237905QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  19. Not sure what you mean by "can you drive it daily". A little google searching found this. Gear ratio for the T5: Gear Ratios : 2.95, 1.94, 1.34, 1.00, .62 Gear ratio for the T56: Gear Ratios : 3.36, 2.07, 1.35, 1.00, .80, .62 Little bit deeper gearing in the first 2 gears on the T56 but you're going to have plenty of HP to launch with the LT1 as a daily driver. The overdrive final gearing is the same so its a wash for highway driving. Top end, even with a 3.91 rear gear you're never going to come close to topping out with either overdrive unless you're insane, LOL! Remember there are 2 different T5s, you want the world calss to take the torque of the LT1 and they are getting rare. The late model fbody cars only used the T5 with a V6. V8s got the T56. All this coming from someone that went with a 4L60E automatic for my LT1 swap.
  20. The sucks for sure. It happened to me back in the 60s to my VW bug of all cars. I pretty much knew who did it but I never did figure out why and had no proof. Back then insurance companies did more than just take your money, they paid to have the whole car painted except for the roof which wasn't damaged.
  21. Congrats, WOW, that is loud. I'm with Blown777Z, when my LT1 fired up for the first time it scared the hell out of me. These things sound so bassass with open headers.
  22. That's the first thing I looked at, its moving free. I just read somewhere to replace the hinge pins, that doesn't sound like fun.
  23. My 280Z has made this noise since I bought it 3 years ago. When I open the driver's door there are 2 loud clicking sounds like you hear a lot of old cars make. I've greased the hell out of the hinges and the roller that cam thing rides on but it has no effect. I'm thinking something must be worn out. Any clues what cause this and how to fix it? Its getting very annoying!
  24. Looks great. seems like the orange color has gotten very popular lately......................I like it.
  25. Yahoo. Glad to see its starting now. Looking forward to the driving and walk around video.
