  1. Anyone in the Atlanta are know of a place that can replace a 280Z windshield, and do it right? I'm a little leery of using the standard parking lot windshield replacement people. I've got the dash out of my car so I thought now would be a great time to replace the windshield. The car is already painted and unfortunately whoever painted it did not remove the windshield first, so I need someone who will take some extra care not to mess up the paint.
  2. There is one on EBay but not much cheaper. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-96-LT1-C4-Corvette-Main-Accessory-Mount-Bracket_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38656QQihZ007QQitemZ170135896339QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
  3. If someone post something I don't like I just don't reply unless asked directly, even then I'll usually take it off-line with a PM. I email twist machine a month or so and asked about using their setup on my Z with the 4L60E. They replied immediately and even told me what Grant adapter I would need and offered to acquire it for me if I need them too. I'm sure if you emailed them they would address any issues you have.
  4. I agree with your reasons. Its just I don't see why some people have to crap on other's choices. It happens here a lot. BTW I think VINHZXT's car is awesome.
  5. The same thing could be said for building a kit car out of a Z, did that tick you off? Why is it so many people have to criticize others people choices for their cars? Ever drive a car with paddle shifters, I doubt it? Paddle shifter is in my long term plans too.
  6. Congrats on getting the hurdle out of the way. Why is it always the thing you can't easily diagnose without buying a new one, LOL? Congrats on the 8 year anniversary too.
  7. ROTFLMAO, I feel your pain. I saw your ad on fbody.com. I did the same thing and still have a ton of stuff left. Biggest problem is some stuff is just too big or heavy to ship. But I actually enjoyed stripping the Z28 and cutting the totaled body into manageable junks with a saws-all was a blast. Plus I've gotten my drive train for free. But I do have a hood, hatch and complete front end for A 94 Z28 which nobody seems to want!
  8. Looking good. Those valve covers really stand out compared to the stock black ones. Certainly an awesome deal for $400!
  9. Something is very wrong. Don't know if the tranny gears are right but still......To get 5500 prm at 75 in 5th with a 3.91 you'd have to be running a 13.5 inch tall tire.

  11. It looks like its about 1" from the footwell floor to the top of the stop. Tough to measure with my sound deadener in place.
  12. The temp unit on an older SBC is usually in the intake manifold near the thermostat housing, not in the head.
  13. try these http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/explodedviews/280z/77fsm/fuses%20&%20relays.gif This is from a 77 280z shop manual. That resistor in the above link can get loose. It might be bundled under some tape and can be hard to locate.
  14. I got these a while back. 20 for $11 delivered http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/70-78-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-trim-panel-clips-rivets_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33705QQihZ012QQitemZ220122425174QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V Don't know about the size and type you need but http://www.mcmaster.com/ has many different plastic rivits for a whole lot cheaper than that, like 100 for around $15 plus shipping. Search for plastic rivits.
  15. No I'm not saying that at all. Just telling you what I experianced with my HEI and an undersized wire. Your milage may differ. But even if you have to get a new distributor you NEED that large gage wire.
  16. If you ran that directly to the battery your ignition would always have power and it would not last long and your car would be a snap to steal. Your fuse panel "should" be fine, as fine as any Datsun fuse panel is, LOL.
  17. Yes, but I'm confused now. My HEI did not use an external coil, it was build into the cap. Therfore there was no external ground wire. The ignition module was also inside the distributor. Like I said there was only one wire needed to run mine. Pictures of yours?????
  18. There should be two connections on the distributor. One for the tach and one that says Batt. The Batt wire needs to be really large. If the stock wire is not then you need to trace it back to its source and run a bigger wire. That should be a ignition switched +12v.
  19. How large of a wire to you have feeding the distributor? These things draw a lot of current. When I got my car the previuos owner had wired with about a 16 gage wire, not near big enough. I put a 10 gage on it and was shocked at the difference it made.
  20. Everything you ever wanted to know about HEI and more. http://reviews.ebay.com/HEI-Ignitions-A-primer_W0QQugidZ10000000002053885?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT:-1:SEARCH:3
  21. YaHooo, congrats, I know that feeling having fired mine up a couple weeks ago. Get that driveshaft and exhaust done and take it for a spin and get it on video.
