Yes I am, the headers that came on the car were trash and I don’t like headers on the street for the heat, noise and leaking reasons. Yeah, the manifolds did take some power away since this engine isn't a stock setup but my car is a daily driver, not a racer. I am running those old school functional vented louvers on the hood, I think they allow more air to flow though the engine compartment. You can't pull air through the radiator is it can't exit the engine compartment easily.

And don't just assume the thermostst is working. If its old it may be dead, Its a cheap part, just get a new one.

Depends on you intake but mine does, a stock chevy sender certainly will. Like I said I run about 180 as long as the car is moving and about 210 if I'm sitting in traffic, the fan rarely comes on, its controlled by a temp switch mounted on the fitting on top of the water pump.

You said you have a carbed engine move the temp sending unit to the intake manifold, there should be two fittings there. The headers can fry anything. The guage could be wrong but I'm running a stock gauge with no problems

That is way too high. What radiator are you using? Does your engine have a thermostat and is it working? Are you running a fan? I run a stock Datsun radiator and an electric fan on a temp switch. Even wtih that relitivly small radiator as long as I'm moving the temp never sits right at 180. The fan kicks on when I stop moving when the temp get to 210.

Funny you should bring that up. When I get my LT1 swap done I will have an extra 350. Just so happens there is a '71 914 on our bulletin board for $3500. hmmmm.

HOLY CRAP, thats a ton of HP in a very light car. A roommate of mine had a 914-6 in 1972 That thing was fast enough to get yourself in trouble, can only imagine what your's was like.

Its a shame isn't it? I'm an old hippie for the 60's and its just not in my make up to lie or cheat. I still think the best of people until they prove me wrong. But lately I seem to be getting burned a lot. I still believe in Karma and think those people will pay for thier actions in the long run.

But even in Atlanta if the car is 25 years old there are no rules. My little 6 cyl '01 Ranger has to pass but the over rich gas guzzling 350 Z does not, go figure,

Yes. I wonder if now that I have the new bushings and its all tight again that maybe the struts have become the weak piont in this suspension. I'm only gussing but these struts are likely the originals. They're only $42 a pop at Advanced, maybe I should just replace them. Hate to tear this all apart again!

I have installed Toyota 4 caliper front discs and 280ZX rear discs along with new urethane bushings in my '77 280Z. I did not change the shocks, mistake but I kind of ran out of money. But now I have a nasty rattling sound in the rear suspension. It sounds like something is totally loose but we can't find anything wrong. The noise only happens when I hit a good size bump or even backing out of the driveway with the wheels turned. Most of it sounds like its coming from the passenger side strut tower. Pushing down on the car while its sitting does not produce it, nor does attempting to rock it sideways. Driving at speed and swerving back and forth quickly does not seem to produce the rattle either. We've had it up on the lift and retighten and torqued everything it sight. Any ideas what to look for? This thing was very quiet before the conversion except for an occasional thump from the rear end when shifting hard.

LOL, I was at the local performance garage the other day talking about my wheel disc brake/suspension conversion issues. I told the tech I think my car is Chrisitine in Japanese clothing.

Too bad there is no easy way to test those things. You said something about where yours are mounted. I thought they were supposed to be reasonably close to the engine.
