  1. My initial timing no vacuum is +8. Initial timing with vacuum hooked up it stays at +8. Revved to full advance with no vacuum is at +22. Revved to full advance with vacuum is +35. The engine is a old Gen1 350 with an unknown cam, but not stock and HEI distributor, I don't know if its had a performance weight kit installed. Do these numbers look ok? The engine seems to run fine, just curious if its timed properly.
  2. I really like the look of your car. What wheels are those and what size are your tires?
  3. Very cool, little jab of the accelerator and it jumps sideways. That's going to be a handful and a blast, congrats.
  4. Yeah, 27.1 with 215/60/17 is still tall. I found one of those sites yesterday, that's why I asked. Right now with the 14" wheels and 235/60/14 I'm at 25.1". Seems like a lot of room left in there but now I'm thinking I should have gone with 16" wheels. But 23-24 seems mighty small. What tires did these cars come stock with?
  5. Nice look. I just picked up some 17x7 Honda wheels myself. I haven't really decided on tire size yet' date=' but I'm thinking sticking with 60 series. I'm afraid 50s or 45's will make it mighty tough to turn the front wheels sitting still. I'm running 235/14/60's now and its tough. Of course I do have that soon to be eliminated Scarab setup. Any idea if 17's with 60 series tires is going to be fit issues with a stock suspension? [img']http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/17x7-wheels.jpg[/img]
  6. How much are they getting for those LS1 crate engines?
  7. I believe you need to get the gear drive for the tranny to match your rear gear ratio and tire size. You should be able to get that from your Chevy dealer. http://www.tciauto.com/tech_info/speedo_gears.htm
  8. That is different for sure. If it has a L28 and you have enough width it just might work. BTW ya got cool wheels.
  9. You should contact them to see how thick they are so you'll know what the affect offset would be with those wheels you want to use. Thanks Ben, now you've got me interested again in going this way, LOL
  10. I've been wondering the same thing about the LT1 Z28 radiator. Hate to buy something ne when I already have this one. It looks like it might be a hair too long though.
  11. LOL, yeah there is nothing like big cubes in a lite car. There are some scary fast cars on this board too. NO clue if you could stuff a V8 in a Skyline, I've never even seen one of those.
  12. Glad to see you're up and running again. I read all your posts, did you ever figure out what the root cause of the bad bearings was?
  13. My timing is set at 12, but I don't know what the total is. I need to get a better timing light or degree wheel.
  14. hmmm I'm using Autotlite 25's now, any suggestions?
  15. I know this is an almost impossible question to answer but thought I'd give it a shot. I have a late GEN 1 350. It has a bit of a cam but since I didn't build it I have no clue about the specs. Its running stock manifolds, no headers. Its running a 725 cfm type 4150 # 4118 Holley on an Edelbrock dual plane manifold. The engine has been running rich since I got it. I'm planning a LT1 swap so I haven't really addressed the rich condition. But now I've decide to attempt to fix it. The plugs don't really look that bad, a little dark. I looked at the jets and power valve, they are the ones that come stock with this carb, 725 (F)68,®78 power valve 8.5. Obviously whoever built the engine didn't do any fine tuning. I don't have an exhaust analyzer and doing all out runs on the street and plug reading isn't something I'm going to get away with where I live. Is there a best guess for jetting this carb with what little engine information I have? I hate to have to buy a whole jet kit for this to shotgun it. Summit wants $42 for a whole kit and $7 for a single set.
  16. OH MAN! Your neighbors have got to hate you, LOL. The old dude up the street from me would have the cops there in a micro-second! Lookin' good!
