  1. I have opinions these are '84 300zx hubs. Here's the pict.
  2. They're new to me and the guys at the shop have no clue either. I meant to take some picts today but forgot my camera. I'm not where the car is right now, I'll try to get some tomorrow
  3. Thanks but I already bought the correct hubs. At this point I'm curious as to what this guy sold me. Tip of the ice burg on this project. I have also learned the hard way a 240Z suspension will NOT fit in a 280Z. I was told by this guy it would. It also had CV joint stubs in the rear suspension without the adapters so that woudn't fit either, we had to use my 280Z U-joing stubs.
  4. I bought what was supposed to be a 240Z front suspension with Toyota 4 piston caplipers. The calipers were not installed. When we tried to install them it was obvious the hubs were not correct for the spacers we had, the calipers were about 1/2 " too far out and the hub did not look like it was seated on the spindle completely. We purchased 240Z hubs and it all worked perfectly. My quesion is what hubs were on there. Looking at Modern Mororsports website there are picts of 3 hubs, mine is not one of these. The ones I have are square, 4 lug, NOT scalloped like the 240Z hubs. Any ideas what they are?
  5. Yes it did. But I am running a Scarab kit now, going to JTR when I do the LT1 conversion. Thanks for the warning, we'll see what happens then. It might balance out since I am adding AC to the car which puts a bit more weight up front.
  6. Yep, thats it, sort of. We finally started measuring things what I really have is 240Z parts with ZX brakes, not the ZX parts like I was told. The geometry is totally different between the 240 and 280, springs are about 3 inches shorter on the 240 and the struts are smaller. So tomorrow we go back to the 280 stuff, change all the bushings I have and put the ZX discs back on. While we're at it we're doing the same thing to the front. What a mess, its tough when you trust someone. I don't know if he lied to me or he just thought it would all fit. Live and learn.
  7. What I have is a 280Z with a Chevy V8. I am converting to Toyota 4 caliper front brakes and 280ZX rear discs. I picked up the whole front and rear suspensions, complete with new bushings and struts. I have had problems with this whole conversion, nothing is what it was supposed to be. The rear is 280ZX, or at least its supposed to be. We changed out the CV stubs for my 280Z U-joint stubs because I didn't want to pay for the adapters. I'm now wondering if that 280ZX rear suspension is actually going to work.
  8. I bought the whole suspension/4 wheel disc brake setup from someone here who can't be reached, he's in Iraq. And from the problems I've had so far with this setup there is no telling what the springs are. The car is sitting too high in the front and too low in the back. We thought maybe they were installed F/B wrong so we switched them, same result.
  9. I bought a complete suspension system and ma having issues. Who make springs that are painted blue. Things are just not sitting right.
  10. The guys at Balanced Performance said the Miata guy is a regular and stops by all the time. I wish I had my camera with me to get some picts, it was gone last night. The Ford install looked very professional.
  11. This might help, got to electrical, wiring. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/explodedviews/280z/
  12. Thanks Jon, I didn't mean to go off on MM and I do understand. Its just frustrating when you email someone and they don't respond.
  13. I am installing a ZX disc brake setup on the rear of my '77 280Z and have run into a snag. I bought all this from a private sale and can't get in contact with them. The emergency brake cable for the 280Z does not seem to have the same hook up method as the ZX. Am I missing some parts or is there a trick to this?
  14. Man, those people had no clue what they had. They basically gave away a fortune in parts. We are all green with envy.
  15. That might work if you don't want AC. "This bracket mounts the alternator low on the passenger side of the engine. Works well where only an alternator will be used."
  16. Awesome. Sounds like you stumbled across a Z gold mine for sure.
  17. Nope, it was Balanced Performance in Sugar Hill http://www.balancedperformance.com/ .
  18. DOH! That would be better.
  19. Wow, that is one nice chunk of aluminum horse power.
