  1. That chrome strip was what took most of the time for the Safelite dude. I watched closely how he did all that. I will attempt to put the seal on the glass and install the strip tomorrow.
  2. Thanks guys. Can I assume the square corners go at the top? Now all I have to do is get the courage to attempt intalling the glass. I got Safelite to instll a new windshield but they would not install the 33 year old hatch glass. It doesn't look that hard to install but its something I have never done.
  3. I just received what is supposed to be a hatch glass gasket for my 280Z. But it looks more like a windshield gasket to me because of the squared off corners. Can anyone confirm this is a hatch gasket or a windshield gasket?

  5. I did see it and was pretty disappointed. Apparently the BBC thinks a US version would appeal to us than the BBC version. Personally I thing the BBC version is much much better, other than they seem to hate everything American. Maybe after a few shows Tanner and the boys will get more personality and the show will improve.
  6. Black Dragon and MSA call them the SCUFF PLATE.
  7. I my case everything had been changed including the rack bushings. You could see the rack move side to side when you turned the steering wheel. It was obvious something was not in tolerance. The spacers fixed it.
  8. I tried several different bushings too but eventually did what EMWHYROHEN did and welded in 1/16" plates on both sides of the right bushing mount but only on the right side of the left bushing mount.
  9. I have a 280Z with a newly built LT1. I love the car but if I were going to start all over now I would go for the LS1. When I built my car two years ago the LS1 was twice the price of the LT1, that's not true anymore. The LS1 is just a better engine, lighter being all aluminum, more HP and a much more sophisticated ignition system that does not use the dreaded optispark. $2900 is a good deal if it includes the whole car. You could sell what you don't use and get a lot of that $2900 back.

  16. If I were going to do it again that's what I would do. But that bracket only cost $17 delivered so I wasn't going to pull the setback plate out just for that.
  17. I moved my knock sensor the the driver's side using a bracket I got from Detail Zone.
  18. I hear ya. And with all the other projects you have going this is the last thing you need.
  19. My condolences to you and your family. I lost my Father a few years ago so I know how tough that is. Glad the safety equipment worked and you walked away. Hopefully you can repair the car even better than it was.
  20. AH Man. That sucks. At least its not a huge amouont of damage but in a car that nice its a real shame. That's my biggest fear with these cars.
  21. Not for the LT1. check. You'll see they are for oval ports, not D ports. They do NOT look like block huggers and I wonder if they would really fit. What makes you think they are the JTR ones?
  22. Yeah they will bolt on but old school SBC ports were square, LT1s are D shaped. Trust me I learn that lesson on my AMX back in the day. I used 69 headers cause I got a deal not knowing the 70 AMX had changed the ports to a dogleg shape. The car ran much worse with those headers than it did with the stock manifolds. Also did he run these in a Datsun?
  23. I can't say for sure but the price is right. I think there is a difference between shorty and block hugger, you need block hugger. I don't thing Hooker makes a block hugger any more if they ever did. Also ask him if they are "D" ports which is what the LT1 has. Just because thye would bolt on doen't mean the will work properly. Maybe some one here has used Hookers on the LT1, try searching.
